  2. It's not a scam because you should be aware that there is risk involved. It's more of an investment. Some are riskier than others, and you need to be realistic about what the end product will be. Greenlight and everything else is the same idea. You are paying to help something get produced, but you are also risking your money. Buy finished products if you are worried about not getting your money's worth.

  3. Concerning Lethandria's Devotion don't forget this behavior (in case you don't already use it): If you switch from the shield directly to a copy of the shield (e.g. weapon set 1: sabre + L's Devotion, weapon set 2: axe + L's Devotion copy) you'll instantly get one tick of healing. You can set up a script (like I did above) that switches all the time once you don't need to attack (so switching recovery malus doesn't matter). Maybe you can use that behavior to your advantage.

  4. Galaxy 2.0 is the only launcher that allows you to integrate and organize all your platforms in one place and thus organize and manage your entire game library in one launcher. It keeps track of achievements, hours played and games owned, combined across platforms. I've been using it since august last year (closed beta) and it's very impressive, and the kind of evolution I want to fully support -- hence my choice of GOG as my primary platform.

  5. Chanter+Priest+Cipher, needs two preservation items on the Chanter, one shield and one other: Chanter: chants Dragon Thrashed Priest: casts Withdraw on Chanter --> Chanter doesn't stop chanting and gets +100 to all defenses because Withdraw counts as stun effect Cipher: casts Defensive Mindweb --> everybody gets the Chanter's ridiculous defenses Barbarian+Chanter with Firebrand and Blood Thirst on the Barb Chanter: summons Skeletons, sends them to the front line Barbarian: summons Firebrand, hits Skeletons who stand near enemies --> Skeleton will get killed, Carnage damages enemies, Blood Thirst gets triggered also works with Barb alone if he takes Rymers' Summons as talent Barbarian+Wizard Wizard: casts Combusting Wounds Barbarian (need high INT): triggers Heart of Fury while dual-wielding --> creating tons of hits which all apply Combusting Wounds also works with Barb alone if he uses a Ring of Searing Flames Island Aumaua Wizard with Quick Switch and Coil of Resourcefulness equip 4 blunderbusses and suse Penetrating Shot cast Combusting Wounds fire all four blunderbusses on enemies with Combusting Wounds (applying 6 instances with each shot) add some missile spells and a Wall of Flame if needed Wizard + Cipher Wizard casts Combusting Wound Cipher casts Ectopsychic Echo Chanter with one handed single weapon get +12 ACC for all offensive chants Wizard + Chanter with White Worms and Blessed Was Wengridh: deactivate "gib" in the game options Chanter: lure enemies to a spot Wizard: cast Wall of Flames + Combusting Wounds --> kill enemies Chanter: lure more enemies to that spot where the corpses lie --> again Combusting Wounds, then use White Worms lure more enemies there: White Worms --> corpses can be used over and over again. You can clear whole maps with this one alone. don't reload in between or the corpses are gone an tank + Wizard with Blast and Kalakoth Minor Blights: tank engages enemies Wizard: summon Blights cast Pull of Eora cast Combusting Wounds shower enemies with Blights --> each hit from Blights (including AoE hits) will also trigger a Blast --> tond of hits that will all apply Combusting Wounds Rogue with spell binding gear (and scrolls): get Deathblows --> also does +100% dmg with spells get Deep Wounds --> does raw damage also with crushing/piercing/slashing spells pile up spell binding gear --> Flames of Fair Rhian, Sun Touched Mail and so on, everything that gives your rogue offensive spells get some scrolls --> especially of spells that deal pierce, slash or crush damage like Twin Stones or Concussive Missiles for Deep Wounds cast those spells on enemies who have two afflictions --> deal +100% damage with Deathblows Paladin + Fighter + Priest, get Munacra Arret and a marking weapon: Paladin is a Darcozzi Paladini with marking weapon, Coordinated Attacks and Inspiring Liberation (+10 ACC+10 ACC): cast IL on fighter Fighter uses Disciplined Barrage, wears Munacra Arret (and or Spirit Spiral, can also use Enigma's Charm) Priest casts Devotions (+20 ACC), then Inspiring Radiance (+10 ACC) Paladin attacks Dragon with marking weapon --> Fighter casts charm on dragon --> Fighter gets +10(Munacra Arret) +10(Inspiring Liberation) +20(Dispciplined Barrage) +20(Devotions) +10(marking) +10(Coordinated Attacks) +10(Inspiring Radiance) = +90 Accuracy on the charm which will crit-charm every dragon besides the one that is immune (Llengrath). Also works with Knockdown to knock a dragon over very reliably. But charm helps a ton with all the ads. Enigma's Charm doesn't have +10 ACC so its hit chance is slightly lower but it's 1/encounter. If you get Shame or Glory and Cladhaliath (with marking) or clone one of them with with the Helwax Mold you can give a +20 marking bonus instead of +10. Also works very well with a Cipher instead of a Fighter: no knockdown, but you can cast anything on the enemy. Especially if you combine Borrowed Instinct with Tactical Meld (on the Paladin): +30 ACC on top 6 Priests: Priest casts Devotions all Priests cast Aggrandizing + Inspiring Radiance all Priests cast Minor Avatar all Priests cast Shining Beacon with +10 INT, +10 MIG and +90 ACC (+10 from PER, +60 from Radiance, +20 from Devotions) --> delete even the atoms of the enemies from existence variant with one Wizard or Druid for CC and nuking: also nice if enemies are vessels then Radiance alone will evaporate everything (if not fire immune) Paladin with Outworn Buckler + Chanter with Little Savior: Chanter summons Skeletons, chants Blessed Was Wengridh + Comrades Paladin kills skeletons and triggers Inspiring Triumph Chanter keeps summoning if skeletons are all down --> endless flow of Inspiring Triumph --> party has stackable +5(Buckler) +5(Little Saviour) +10(Wengridh + Comrades) +7(Inspiring Triumph) = +27 to fortitude/will/reflex and +17 to deflection at all times with no per-rest resource costs spells etc. like Shields for the Faithful can stack on top Surely there's more but I have to go...

  7. context is important. warren has issued a statement in which she says, speaking o' a conversation with bernie, "I thought a woman could win; he disagreed." 'course, ask Gromnir if he thinks a woman could win in 2020 and we would agree with bernie, but not 'cause o' gender. the actual female candidates and their policy positions look wrong to us, but likely for different reasons than bernie would articulate. early we thought kamala harris looked like a moderate alternative to biden, but her tough-on-crime history which made her more palatable to independents and even republicans were increasing used to undermine her support from democrats. her second amendment position lost gd's vote and more than a few independents who might have otherwise considered voting for harris. also, we thought harris' campaign were too trump-like and caustic to succeed with those folks tired o' trump. no real signature program or slogan worthy position neither. tulsi gabbard has a slogan worthy signature policy position which resonates. stop endless wars. is everything else 'bout her which is terribad. klobuchar is capable and experienced senator whom most americans know little but she don't appear to bring anything unique to the 2020 campaign. no slogan worthy signature policy or program. don't get us started on marianne williamson. etc. warren is too liberal for independents to embrace. am thinking she is smart and has well articulated policy positions, but her slogan worthy program is gonna be something along the lines o' tax the rich. tax the _______ is gonna discourage moderates and even a few liberals. tax is not a good start. 'course is doubtful bernie saw warren as too liberal. if at the start o' the 2020 Presidential campaign we were asked if a woman could win, we likely woulda' said harris were a possibility, but such hope died fast and ugly. context is important. the thing is, regardless o' context, gender would not have been a major concern. twenty years ago if you asked us which would Americans be more likely to vote for President, a white woman or a minority man, we woulda' tabbed the fairer sex w/o any hesitation. full disclosure: little over a year has past since we were, for the first time, accused of mansplaining. had a case involving a catholic school and a 1st amendment issue. methodist parents were angry 'cause o' curriculum and treatment o' their daughter. were not our first rodeo, so at very start o' our work we provided the parents with a written list o' simple dos and don'ts. we went over the list with parents and we made sure they understood. we then we had parents sign so they understood importance o' the list. two months later we had to have a discussion with same folks and explain that their behavior had serious jeopardized the case... they had multiple times engaged in highlighted "dont's" actions. again, not our first rodeo, so we had a prepared speech we gave to folks sitting 'cross the desk from us when we explained, as polite as Gromnir possible, how they were sabotaging a case in exact ways we had recent warned 'em. took us near twenty years o' refinement to get our speech to level o' perfection we were satisfied. thankful we didn't need use the speech too often, but were often enough such that we developed the bit o' rote and we had used it to correct the behaviour o' men and women and even a transgender client. so imagine our surprise when mrs. _________ accused us o' mansplaining. have no idea what went down 'tween bernie and warren, but our personal mansplaining incident bothered us more than we woulda' guessed it should. maybe bernie is a closeted misogynist and has been hiding such for decades, but am also recognizing how innocent observations can be taken outta context particular where gender and race is at issue. HA! Good Fun!

  9. Follow-up tutorials: Adding New Icons, Adding Items to a Store, How to Upload Mods to the Steam Workshop. This is a text version of the video tutorial available here: In this tutorial, I'm going to show you how to create a simple data mod for Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire. By creating your own game data bundle files, you can create new items, abilities, classes, and other content; modify existing content; and also modify how some parts of the game work, as I'm about to do. First, you need to create a folder to put your modified files in. Locate the Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire folder. I've installed the game using Steam, so my game is in the steamapps folder. Inside the folder "PillarsOfEternityII_Data", create a folder called "override", if it doesn't exist already. This is where all your mods and mods you download from the internet will go. Inside the "override" folder, create a folder for your mod. Next, you need to provide some information about your mod. Inside your mod folder, create a file called "manifest.json". Open that file in a text editor, and type the following text into it. { "Title" : { "en" : "Per-Rest Resources" }, "Description" : { "en" : "Changes spells and class resources to reset on rest instead of after each encounter." }, "Author" : "BMac", "ModVersion": "1.0", "SupportedGameVersion" : { "Min" : "1.1.0", "Max" : "1.2.0" } } "Title" is the name of the mod. You can provide the text in multiple languages, each identified by its standard two-letter language code. In this example, I only provide English - "en". "Description" is a short, one-sentence description of the mod, and can also be provided in multiple languages. "Author" is the name or handle of the mod's creator. "ModVersion" is the version number of your mod. You should increase this each time you release a new version of your mod. "SupportedGameVersion" specifies the minimum and maximum versions of Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire that your mod is known to be compatible with. The game will warn your users if they are using your mod with an incompatible version, but your mod will still load if it's enabled. Change the contents of this file to describe your mod, then save and close the file. You may also create a thumbnail image that will represent your mod in the Mod Manager UI. This image will go in your mod's folder. It needs to be named "thumb.png" and the dimensions should be 149x84. Now you're ready to actually modify the game's data. For this mod, I'm going to change spells and class resources from resetting after each encounter to resetting on rest. Let's take a look at the vanilla game data, the data the unmodified game uses. This data is located at "PillarsOfEternityII_Data/exported/design/gamedata". I happen to know that the data I want is in the "global" gamedata bundle. Open that file in a text editor. The file is hard to read because it isn't formatted. There are many tools available for formatting JSON data. I'm using Visual Studio Code, so I just need to press Shift+Alt+F to format this document and make it easier to read (note: you'll need to associate the .gamedatabundle extension with the JSON format. link). Now I'm going find the properties I want to edit. I'll just use my text editor's search function (Ctrl+F) and search for the text "spell". To learn what all of these properties do, refer to the Game Data Documentation. I found the data. It's on the object called "GlobalGameSettings", so that's the object I need to override in my mod. I won't be changing all the values on this object, but I'm going to copy the whole thing for now, starting from the curly brace "{" shown below, all the way to the matching closing curly brace. Create a new .gamedatabundle file in your mod directory. Enter the text shown, and paste the object you copied. { "GameDataObjects":[ (PASTE OBJECT HERE) ] } Now I'll remove the data I don't want to override. Note that I always need to leave the "$type" and "ID" properties of the object, and the "$type" property of any components I want to alter. That leaves me with this: { "GameDataObjects":[ { "$type": "Game.GameData.GlobalGameSettingsGameData, Assembly-CSharp", "ID": "eddfc852-ccb9-4884-b901-e77e8ca31b48", "Components": [ { "$type": "Game.GameData.CharacterStatsSettingsComponent, Assembly-CSharp", "PowerPoolUsageType": "PerEncounter" }, { "$type": "Game.GameData.SpellSettingsComponent, Assembly-CSharp", "SpellUsageType": "PerEncounter" } ] } ] } Now I'll change all spells and class power pools to reset on rest instead of after each encounter by changing "PowerPoolUsageType" and "SpellUsageType" from "PerEncounter" to "PerRest". { "GameDataObjects":[ { "$type": "Game.GameData.GlobalGameSettingsGameData, Assembly-CSharp", "ID": "eddfc852-ccb9-4884-b901-e77e8ca31b48", "Components": [ { "$type": "Game.GameData.CharacterStatsSettingsComponent, Assembly-CSharp", "PowerPoolUsageType": "PerRest" }, { "$type": "Game.GameData.SpellSettingsComponent, Assembly-CSharp", "SpellUsageType": "PerRest" } ] } ] } That's it. My mod is now ready to test.

  10. I've backed about a dozen projects and they've all turned out pretty well. Space Quest guys are the only ones who didn't deliver. I paid for that doublefine space game too. It was a bust, but they did release a playable thing, so I can't call it a scam. It just wasn't worth the $20, but plenty of fully finished games let me down as well.

  11. You're kidding, right? CNN is the homeplace of "Enlightened Centrism" which you may as well call "the ashamed right". Certainly a lovely way to get the "fake news" crowd to sympathize with Bernie and give them an alternative to the orange golfer, though.

  12. No, it was not professional. The question posed to Warren deliberately implied Bernie was lying and Warren was telling the truth in the news story that CNN broke. It was a case of CNN determining that, CNN was correct. The juxtaposition of the questions in sequence is a purposeful manipulation. My post was to demonstrate the bias to the program implicitly stating Warren tells the truth and Bernie is a liar, topic notwithstanding. You're literally doubling down on a wrong statement because you can't take being wrong. You could make a death of the author argument about that *you* got a different intent from my post, but you're literally stating you know my intent was different than what I know my intent was. It's ridiculous.

  13. Why is it unfair? You chose to build a glass cannon in order to dish out as much dps as possible. You didn't raise defenses and AR. It's totally reasonable for the AI to target the biggest threat which also has the lowest defenses. You'd do the same, wouldn't you? You can either work with different afflictions on the enemy that prevent engagement (like Stun and so on), you could equip a pet that disables engagement (Grog), you could equip an item that prevents disengagement attacks (Nomad's Brigandine for example) and so on. Or use Wild Sprint in case of Barbarian. You could also use a reach weapon for this fight in order to not get engaged in melee but still use melee weapons.

  15. The first matter to attend to was to show a local strongarm that that kind of behaviour would not be tolerated. From there, a mother-to-be seemed to have a pressing concern which Elanna felt indebted to resolve. On the way to find Ranga, the trio managed to get slightly lost, and ended up helping cover up for a group of townsfolk down on their luck, being harassed by a bourgeoisie merchant. She hated to tell a lie, but couldn’t stand to see people run into the ground. The trio had no problems in completing Ranga’s requests and returned successfully to Aufra to give her the placebo potion. This time Elanna couldn’t abide a lie, even in good cause. Aufra took the news well and thanked them nonetheless. The trio then proceeded north to Valewood to investigate reports of some dangerous animal activity. It was here they discovered Nonton’s treachery. When confronted, the couple admitted all, and were thus granted redemption. The last small task remaining outstanding was the matter of a smith’s missing shipment somewhere on the road. Elanna and her friends managed to track it down to a bandit group in Black Meadow. Sneaking upon them in the dead of night the party judged them too dangerous to take head on, but vowed to return and mete out justice once they were able. It would have to be enough just to get the smith his supplies for now. Finally, feeling slightly more accomplished and worldly (and felling the good will of Gilded Vale on their side) Elanna and Eder decided it was time to pay homage to their god. Descending into the Temple of Eothas Elanna was aghast. The temple had been overrun by foul creatures and spirits. A man at the entrance claimed that the priests of the temple remained trapped below in need of a proper burial. The upper levels were cleared without incident and Elanna and her company proceeded to the lower levels with confidence. Such confidence soon proved to be unwarranted as the small band was accosted by a large group of spirits and oozes, and nearly met their demise. Eder was the first to fall, being laid low by a spirit with an icy touch who slowed his movement almost to a standstill. Aloth was the next to succumb when all attention was focused on him. It was only after making a tactical retreat that Elanna was able to finish off the monster piecemeal and revive her two new friends. In return for their sacrifices the party were rewarded with an artefact of Eothas himself, which Elanna looked forward to carrying into battle. Just as rewarding was collecting the defiled remains of her fellow priests and consecrating providing them with a proper burial, and hopefully a final rest.

  16. FF ability is using your fist as a weapon, and targets only one foe always. But if it proc additional attacks with Swift flurry or HBD, the following hits will be used with your main hand weapon. For example, if you put battle axe with modal and tuotillo hand as weapons, and use Ffist, then first hit will be with fist (with PL scalling and tuotillo bonus), and every other will apply bleeding cuts with axe, but your recovery won't be affected by axe modal. Community patch only changes FF to be tagged as melee ability instead of "spell like"

  18. Start the fight with Inspiring Radiance. It's a fast cast and thus you won't notice any difference whether DEX is low or high. This will give your party +10 ACC right away and they can start doing things like casting CC etc. Durance then has more time to cast his next spell without slowing your whole party down that much. If you also pick Aggrandizing Radiance he will get +2 to all attributes, including DEX. It stacks with everything. Also Durance had high RES. If you use him for buffs & heals mainly you can add a large shield and weapon & shield style and skip armor. That will reduce his recovery.

  23. Started playing The Long Dark's story mode Wintermute yesterday and I'm digging it. I bought the game back in 2017, when it was still in early access, dabbled a bit in Survival Mode and liked it well enough but decided to shelf it until the official release and some of the story episodes were out. The improvements made to the game since then and the quality of the story content is impressive -- the game oozes atmosphere, from art style to sound design, music and voice acting, and its more calm and thoughtful pacing is such a nice diversion. There's something oddly relaxing about sitting in a cave (having just looted a hidden stash of supplies after following directions on a note I found in an abandoned house), in front of a campfire, waiting for my Rose Hip Tea to boil while watching the night fall outside.

  24. Naturally, literally just a couple of days after Bernie takes a projected lead in Iowa for the first time a couple of weeks before the primary (with Elizabeth Warren in second), a story leaks about how he claimed a woman would not be capable of becoming president directly to Elizabeth Warren. Ignoring that he asked Elizabeth Warren to enter the 2016 race (before he did so himself when she declined), ignoring that he campaigned for Hillary in 2016 after he was defeated, ignoring that he has been saying publicly for 30 years now that a woman absolutely could and should become president. What a dirty bit - politics are so fun.

  25. Item VFX are more fickle than ability vfx, but it's trial-and-error either way until you figure out the format. Find the VFX for the cloak and then put it in the same place for the armor you want. Sometimes the VFX is in the statusEffect, sometimes it's on the item itself.

  26. One of Trumps bosom buddies, Rupert Murdoch has landed in the spotlight for deliberately lying about the causes of fires in his conservative propaganda media empire (News Corp), trying to sell the idea that climate change isn't real, it's all arson. Trump Jr., being from a family of pathological liars, of course jumped the bandwagon, retweeting the lies. Trying to sell the idea that it's caused by almost 200 cases of arson rather than unusually warm and dry summers. The real number is 24 cases of arson, throughout 2019, none of which were related to the current bush fires but a mix ranging from mentally disturbed people who loves fire to insurance fraud, people trying to burn down property to claim insurance money.. A number of other "fire related" offenses includes violating complete fire bans by using a BBQ in your garden and stuff like that, not necessarily causing fires. If Fox News is completely untrustworthy because of their tunnel vision perspective of the world, News Corp outlets are untrustworthy because of outright lies. Funny the Trump family isn't busy labeling them as "fake news" Makes you wonder what goes on inside the heads of people like that... https://www.bbc.com/news/world-australia-51071800

  27. Heya! It's me, Alesia- making a sheepish and apologetic return. Those of you who've known me for years are aware that I regularly vanish, often for long periods of time. My last disappearance was especially abrupt, however, and I feel pretty bad about it. I'm sorry, everyone! Life just unexpectedly took me elsewhere (an ecovillage in Central America, to be specific). I really should have let y'all know, though. Despite appearances to the contrary, I do and always have valued your friendship. Once again, I apologize! (And if it's any consolation, I'm known for Irish goodbyes in RL, too...) Anyhoo, I'm back now and I kind of feel like playing again. I'm pleasantly surprised to see that this challenge is still active! I see Serg is still posting, as is Ivanfyodorovich. And we have some new friends. Who else is still following along? Best, A.

  30. It couldn't be this complicated for you guys, could it? Making a 3D gameworld with 3D combat takes 6x the dev time (or whatever it is) than a stationary 2D background on a hex grid. If TOW was isometric with the same budget and dev time there woulda been that many more quests, that many more maps to explore and that much more reactivity in the gameplay. It's a pick your poison thing when it comes to AA budgets. If TOW 2 has a AAA budget, dollars to donuts it's gonna be deep as heck. Also 3D vs. iso is a preference thing when it comes to RPGs. It's like saying Zork is better than Bard's Tale because you prefer games without pictures. Well ok. That's fine. Cool story.
