  1. Battery power is already DC, wall power is AC and has to be run through a transformer to get to DC? So if the transformer (or rectifier maybe?) is bad... it causes fluctuating current and the over/ under volt protection in the laptop kicks in? I mean, I would have thought that would cause outright crashes/ dying rather than BSODs or revert to using battery power, but 'bad' power from a dying psu can give some pretty baffling symptoms as well. I've also had plenty of non computer stuff fix itself by changing a power cord.

  4. So I hit level 12, and went to go assign my skill points, but they were greyed out and I couldn't click on them. Thinking maybe it was because I was in a combat zone, I left the planet. Still couldn't. I have since leveled up, stripped naked, etc in game, reloaded the save, and I still can't assign skill points. Worse, I tried respeccing thinking that would help. I now have 120 skill points I can't assign. So basically, my character has become unplayable

  5. You begin a real empowered being if as a chanter you empower the invocation Her Revenge Swept Across the Land, then you get multiple 3-tiers inspirations, potentially all of them. With the weyc stuff, and the sasha sabre, and because of the accessibility of the ability, you have a great multiclass synergy. Maybe that can work with some other AoE spells, or likely multiple targets spells.

  6. When making a character, especially when hitting randomize, there is a complete disconnect between sex and gender identifiers. You can make a woman with a full beard and jawline, you can make a man with a soft face and bone structure, you can make someone androgynous or non binary. Yet, there is not a single NPC that breaks the gender boundary in the whole game. Everyone looks and presents like typical men and women. It would make sense that in the future the lines of gender are blurred, so its strange that only you do so. Anyway, have a nice day, thanks for listenin'.

  7. @Zoraptor "'bad' power from a dying psu can give some pretty baffling symptoms[...]" Amen to that. @Hulk'O'Saurus So wait, the system froze when you tried to enter control panel while on battery power? This is a weird situation. So if it were me, I'd be doing a number of things: 1. Since we suspect a power issue, set the CPU power level in Windows' advanced power plan settings to minimum (5% usually, I think). 2. Using temperature-monitoring software to make sure the CPU and GPU temps aren't weird (hwinfo64). 3. Memtest86 to see if the RAM errors out (though if the power supply is bad and causing power fluctuations or something, it may not necessarily be the RAM's fault that it's erroring out). Random BSOD errors like the ones you're getting is a frequent symptom of bad or malfunctioning RAM. I would probably also test plugged vs. unplugged since you've mentioned the different Windows experience vs. the two is still occurring, even if problems don't totally go away when running unplugged. 4. Run an external OS off of an external hard drive or a flash drive. Does it still keep BSODing? 5. Test more with battery power. Are you consistently getting significantly better uptime vs. when using plugged power? Is there any difference in the way you've used the two (i.e. waiting a while for the battery to charge to get a literal cold boot with battery power vs. frequent hot boots with plugged power)?

  9. I mean randomize means randomize. Yes, if you randomize your character, it will be randomized. I don't know how else to explain it.

  13. They send you an email with my key as well?!? Whoa, good thing I redeemed it before you did. You should ask for your own though.

  15. @Hulk'O'Saurus Memtest86 from the Memtest86 website. You use the included imageusb.exe to burn the image to a USB flash drive (or you can use something like Rufus if you need to do it to a CD/DVD instead), then boot the flash drive (let me know if you need help on figuring that out), start the test after it successfully boots the Rufus interface. If there are any errors at all, the RAM is the problem (and should be re-seated and re-tested one RAM stick at a time and maybe in a different motherboard RAM slot just to rule out any possible interferences).

  16. Made the final arrangements for my birthday wine tasting. A new yearly event where I invite my closest friends, and we have a (relatively) formal blindtasting of wines from my cellar. 4 whites, 4 reds and two dessert wines are good to go - the oldest from 1966.

  17. Hey! I was that nasenale! Jokes aside, I really liked Neketaka, and I did almost every quest there before moving elsewhere, and pretty early on too, and that made most of the game seemed provisional and uninspired in comparison. Neketaka was Deadfire for me in most respects, and it spoiled me rotten. But having that standard, I guess it would have taken the devs 7 years more to "finish" the masterpiece Deadfire Enhanced Uncut Director's version.

  18. ^ I have a sneaking suspicion that maybe those emails weren't 100% on the level.

  19. Amen, bruh! City bird here too and lack (or even total absence. Looking at you, Kingmaker, or should I call you "Village Elder Maker"?)of cities is detrimental to any RPG.

  20. Meh, RPG is only as good as it's city. Hubs are great.

  21. Just started playing The Outer Worlds last night and I encounter this bug (or similar) very early on -- my character had just hit level 2 and was on Hawthorne's ship and got the notice that I could spend 10 skill points and 1 perk point. I navigated to the correct tab(s) and chose the skills (and perk) that I wanted and when I hit the X button (on xbox one controller) nothing happens. Hitting Y or holding Y down works (clears a single skill/perk chosen ; clears all skills/perks chosen). B works taking you out of the skill/perk window, but X just will not save your choices. If you move around the various tabs and windows, you eventually get a warning that leaving Skills/Perks windows will result in your choices being lost, and it gives you the option to go back (B) or continue and leave the window, thus losing everything. I eventually got the 10 skill points to save, but I have no idea what I did to get it to save, but the Perks situation is ongoing -- I have yet to be able to get that one pesky perk to save by hitting the X button.

  22. Same here. I find if I keep hitting the E key multiple times it will eventually work. This bug should have been picked up before release.

  23. Unfortunately It is. I've already uninstalled and won't be playing again.

  24. So reached level 10....and now I can't assign skill points at all either. Please don't tell me this is a game breaking bug...

  25. Same issue, hit level 8 after leaving the first planet and all skills are greyed out, not able to assign any of the available points. Game is essentially unplayable and I'm definitely not going to repeat the 10 or so hours I have already played to get around a bug. No excuse for releasing something with game-breaking bugs.

  26. Same issue here. I'm at level 4, and I can assign my perk point but not my 10 skill points (I can choose where to put the points, but the 'E' key to accept does not work). Interestingly, I had no problem assigning skill points at earlier levels, and 'E' works just fine elsewhere, e.g. looting corpses. Very annoying. I've tried restarting twice. Respeccing had the same result for me as for AspenScythe -- I was left with all of my skill points which I could not assign. Thanks.

  27. I am having the same issue at level 4.
    1 point
  28. Hey, AspenScythe I'm sorry for the UI issue you have run into. We have our development team looking into it and hope to have a fix for it shortly. In the meantime, to expedite your request, you can send an e-mail to our publisher, Private Division at support@privatedivision.com. This will get your issue into their queue and allow us to prioritize requests to ensure the fastest possible turn around time. We apologize again and thank you for your patience while we work to resolve the issue.

  29. @Keyrock Fun fact: if the Cowboys lose out while the Eagles only notch one win against the Cowboys, the Cowboys would still make the playoffs at 6-10, .

  30. @Hulk'O'Saurus That's...odd. Never heard of something like that, though I have significantly less experience with laptops than I do desktops. What about being plugged in would cause the PSU to act abnormally? You'd think it'd be the other way around if anything, that it might not be able to fully deliver power if it's running off of battery...
