Confirmed on (loyal) Samara pulling through on the Biotic Bubble portion of the endgame. I had (loyal) Legion do the first part and he got a Collector Wasp to the noggin. Seeing as I had counted on his help for all of 2 hours, it wasn't a great loss. Don't know why he survived for you and not for me. Maybe something to do with your performance during that portion? I didn't make any obvious mistakes.

who was your second team leader? perhaps you need a valid second team leader in addition to right tech specialist.

Yeah, the second team leader does make a difference I think.

The Soldier's Adrenaline Rush power is ridiculously overpowered. It has only a 3 second cooldown, & combined with a sniper rifle it turns the game into Duck Hunt. The only difficulties I've been having so far are with those overgrown mechs.

On another note, I salute all people who managed to find all 20 dog tags in that Normandy DLC. Most tedious mission, ever.

The ending of the words is ALMSIVI.

The first time I ran through that end sequence..

I sent Legion up the pipe, and had Garrus lead the other team, and went through with Miranda and Grunt on my team. All survived the first stage. Used Zaeed to accompany the crew back. Chose Samara for the biotic bubble, and sent Garrus as the leader again for the second section. Everyone made it through that portion alive. Then did the final boss battle.. (keeping Grunt and Miranda on my team) and Mordin died.

Tried it a second time,

Repeated the first half, but used Mordin to escort the crew back to the ship, and then selected Zaeed as the leader for the team leader of the second half. And he died coming through the door, right before giving the speech and the boss battle, but then no-one else died.

Sent Tali in the pipes and she died by the door (headshot from yellow glowing thing), Samara as first leader survived without a scratch, Thane as second leader died damn easy, Jack held the bubble perfectly, Grunt led everyone back to the ship safely but Mordin died for some reason. I wonder if I could kill off everyone. Or myself. Ended the game with Garrus and Samara. Also I wonder how essential those upgrades are to the ship...

EDIT:

In retrospect, I'd send Mordin back with the crew and have Grunt lead the distraction team, simply because he can survive a lot. No idea who to send in the pipe.

No way I'm reading those spoilers, despite my weakness for forbidden temptation.

However, can someone give some non-spoilery tips/suggestions as to minimizing casualties?

Upgrade the ship  There are specific "instant deaths" for each ship upgrade not done. o O (hmm, hope that doesn't count as a spoiler)

Oh, and do the loyalty missions for each squad member of course

I'm not sure if squad gear/weapon upgrades actually change survivability or not...

Resource stuff is purely about having something to do during down time, it's exploration based, slow paced gaming. I actually enjoied it, it broke up the action and story and made me feel like I was preparing for a purpose. If I ever got bored of collecting resource's I'd just go do a quest, or seek out a side quest etc...

ME2 is now a very entertaining shooter as well as having role play and exploration elements.

Then again I suppose most folk think we should let the stats do all the killing *yawn*.

Well, if you are going to bother having stats at all, they should do something. Character building and customization is a part of RPGs, and BIO turned the dial way down for ME2. Everyone has different tastes and all, but at times it felt like I was playing a shooter with RPG elements, not the other way around. (Is that what's supposed to be?)

I agree with Grom on the resource thing. I never had resource problems, but that's only because I'm a tad obsessive about this stuff and can't leave any planets unexplored.

As for the huge hordes of husks, shooting their legs works wonders, especially in bullet time. Freezing ammo is quite useful as well.

It's quite clear they're going for the interactive story based shooter market. It's no stat based rpg, and in a way that's refreshing.

This does afterall come down to taste...

On a completely other unrelated note.

ME2 isn't really pushing the XBox to its limits at all... *sigh*.

I came up with Crate 3.0 technology.

Not Shepard's fault there. That's BIO's lame fault. Thats cene simply doesn't make since. The fact that Ashley believes 'rumours' over you is absolutely garbage.

It's a quick and easy way to deal with the character without having to DEAL with the character. It sucked that BIO did this, but ya know they can't do everything...

Speaking of stuff, the "alternate costume" thing is hilariously pathetic, you're not going to put any effort into it, just don't put it in the game.

Seriously, even the alternate costumes in Prince of Persia were better.

Eh. They had an easier out for Ashley. As we all know Ashley is all abiout the Alliance so easily could have belived your story but passed on your offer to join you on your current quest because she was needed by the Alliance since it seemed she had climbed the ranks more than a bit (largely due to the events of the first game). See. That way everybody wins.

BIO doesn't have to work too much to add extra stuff, Ashley stays true to her character, Shepard can respect her decision or go pyscho, and the player doesn't rage at the lunacy of it all.

I love how they don't make sense either. Garrus' suit is still broken, so is Legion's. The rest look about the same.

Why not? Because it makes that part of the game look half-baked.

If you're going to do something, do it right or not at all.

Jack's alt-suit helped, a little :/

Pay attention when they talk about what people need to do. Sending a biotic to do a tech specialists job is not a good idea.

Kaidan/Ashley would have worked much better as a DLC than this. Clumsy.

On a related note, characters don't even seem to account for hard vacuum. No, a plastic breather won't protect you from that. Not even a Cerberus plastic breather.

How hard would it have been to put them in hardsuits for those missions? They even had the models from ME1!

I think I had Samara for the first team lead as well. Figured since she was a fearsome warrior / 1000 years old she would be good. But now that you mention it yeah, I guess that explains it.

Weird, because Miranda mentioned she was a perfect choice to lead the first team.

Also, that

T-800 Reaper... good thing it wasn't complete. It would have looked utterly retarded as a complete spaceship, not to mention it probably wouldn't work as a spaceship either - too small, no corridors.

If anyone is looking for a way to get everyone out alive here's what I did:

(by the way, I did everyone's loyalty missions, not sure if that has something to do with it)

First part:

-Sent Tali in the ventilation shaft

-Garrus leads the Fire team

-I took Mordin and Legion with me.

That should get you into the rooms, linked up with everyone. Now you'll be asked to send someone back with the ship, and create another team with a leader.

-Send Mordin to accompany the crew back to the Normandy

-Garrus leads the other squad (again)

-Samara can do the bubble (I think Jack would be fine also)

Now you should be done making decisions, except for your "final" party.

Personally I took Tali and Legion (Legion cause he's my favorite).

I know it can run on a 8600M GT, but that's only if you're careful and take breaks to prevent overheating. :brows:

That was a pretty fun experence, lot of shooter though. But the world was well fleshed out, now I have to wait for ME3.

Sent Jacob in on the first team, in hindsight that was indeed stupid, but he volunteered! Kind of funny that only the black guy died on my playthrough
