  1. How about... Intimated Rooney Overated Nervous Yanked Also: CapeLOL
  2. North Korea training at a public gym. Gotta give the lads credit. Against the best team in the world, they played with the hearts on their sleeve...
  3. I can't for the life of me figure out how to save in a different slot (PC version mind you). Sounds retarded, I know.
  4. So far I'm loving this game. It's head and shoulders above the Gothic games IMO. One question though: Is there only save slot apart from the autosave & quicksave? If so, I'm all for that actually, since it adds to the "hardcore" nature of this RPG. However, if it turns out to be anywhere as buggy as the Gothics then perhaps I better back 'em up.
  5. I don't have a Sig-runt. I have a Justice (awesome!), Emo-Nate, Alistair-Mage, Low-Brow Dwarf, & Viconia.
  6. Is there anything important in the locked chests? I don't really want to have Nate in the party (since he's boring) but he's the only guy I have who an pick locks.
  7. The current consensus seems to be that the persistent CTDs are afflicting the Windows 7-64 bit OS. Which, incidentally, is what I've got. Am I right to assume you're not using Win 7-64? That's just it. I am using Win 7-64. Found this which may be of help. Possible crash fix Good news: The "fix" seems to have stopped the crash to desktop! Bad news: The "fix" replaced the CTD with a crash to BIOS, forcing me to enter windows in Safe Mode!

  9. Still haven't bought and played the expansion but on my PC the memory leak with the OC were never THAT bad. Sometimes after 2/3 hours the loading times would become Witcher-like () but that was it. ....... So you're telling me they managed to make it worse with the expansion? Yes, they somehow did the impossible by making the leak worse. In the original game the leak would gradually increase the loading times from 10 seconds to 10 minutes. Now, in addition to the loading times, the frame rate gradually drops from 60 to 20. But there's nothing gradual about the CTDs. They hit you in the face like Chris Brown on Rhianna.
  10. Alright that's it. I've been sticking my head in the sand until now, but no more. The PC version of Dragon Age if jagficially craptastic. From a memory leak that won't relent to incessant crashes to desktop courtesy of the new epansion pack, this game is borderline unplayable. I consider myself to be fan of Bioware, but this PC version is pure garbage. If it was any other company you lot would be crying bloody murder. But because it's Bio, this shamelessly poor coding is considered an mere eccentricity. Such a pity my Xbox 360 is currently laboring under the Red Ring of Death.
  11. So is this "Feastday" dlc thingy any good?
  12. And yet we'll still play it for laughs if it's a guy being raped. Hey, it's not rape if you enjoy it, right?
  13. This isn't a fundamentally Japanese issue, Grom. This is a universal issue concerning the decency of mankind. Human depravity is still depravity be it Nippon or Timbuktu. Condoning acceptance of rape and torture will only further desensitize our inhibitions against debauchery. For good or for ill, this is what happened to homosexuality. Now, I'm in no way saying that homosexuality is immoral, but, it was considered to be such yesteryear. But given the mainstream acceptance it acquired by the mass media over the last generation, it became socially kosher. Rape and torture, however, are not like homosexuality. Rape and torture are inherently vile and affront to all decency. However, the desensitizing effect of mass media makes no such distinction, and it will eventually create indifference if not tacit assent to these intolerant practices. By your own admission, it's already happened in Japan. Unfortunately, tolerance of intolerance is no tolerance at all. I may be wrong, but are you comparing societies growing acceptance of relationships between consenting individuals as a sign that society will accept nonconsentual relationships? I can't tell, but are you also arguing that some acts in video games will "desensitize our inhibitions against debauchery" but not others? Because if you're going to argue that "rape and torture" are desensitizing, then surely the same argument applies to any game with violence in it as well (which pretty much rules out any game that has physical conflict between entities). Or am I missing something? You're right Amentep, in that if you take that principle to its logical extreme it could, in theory, rule out a great many things. But that's in theory. In reality, violence in an of itself is not comparable to rape or torture. Violence may be a part of self-defense. Violence may be part of justice. Violence is always part of war. But these things are subject to justification. They can, a great many times, have a moral leg to stand on. Rape, torture, and pedophilia is without justification, and that's what makes it intrinsically debase. As legal scholars call it, it's the distiction between a malum in se (wrong because it's inherent wrong), versus a malum prohibitum (wrong because the law says so). This is exacerbated by the fact that most of us are either indifferent to or enthusiastic of gratuitously violent media, and so corrective action would likely be futile. The cat's already out of the bag and the desensitization has already taken place. But as RPGmasterBoo eloquently said, "at some point you simply have to draw the line." Thankfully, American and European society hasn't sunk (yet) to those depths of nonchalance with respect to rape, torture, & pedophilia. Hence, the current public outrage. We still hold some things sacred it seems. But if we continue down the path Japan have walked, then it won't be long before there's hentai on Cartoon Network or rape games on the shelves of Gamestop.

  15. Great justification there. That's like saying "I hate blacks. Why? Well, I hate Jews too." Now I understand that in a free society you can buy any media you want no matter how reprehensible it may be (for now), but be under no illusions: To play these, you're either ****ed up in the head (at worst), or two sandwiches short of a picnic (at best). The element of choice remains your prerogative. But don't try and sugar coat your devious activities as being morally acceptable due its alleged pervasiveness.
  16. I'm proud of you Di. I have seen the sun rise on the sandy beaches of Hawaii. I have seen the sun set on the coasts of Honshu. But neither dusk nor dawn compares the sumptuous beauty of the Geth Pulse Rifle. Nb - make sure you use it with maxed out inferno ammo, and you'll never have to ammo switch again.
  17. Same problem here. Unlike my Arcane Warrior who stays standing, when Low Brow Dwarf gets mobbed by 3 d00ds, he drops like a sack of potatoes. I'm not really into micromanaging during combat, so I managed to set up properly the tactics for Emo Archer with Daddy Issues, & also Sarcastic Reluctant Mage, but Low Brow Dwarf remains a problem. Also, my game won't progress past the smuggler battles on the streets of Amarantinewhatever since it crashes straight to desktop. Is this the end of my DA:A sojourn or is the game afoot?
  18. In America we bathe in a sea of blood, but are boob-shy of sex. In Europe you flaunt nekkid in nirvana, but are gun-shy of violence. In Japan, they simply combine both desires with none of the inhibitions.
  19. The game begins with a teenage girl on a subway platform. She notices you are looking at her and asks, "Can I help you with something?" That is when you, the player, can choose your method of assault. With the click of your mouse, you can grope her and lift her skirt. Then you can follow her aboard the train, assaulting her sister and her mother. As you continue to play, "friends" join in and in a series of graphic, interactive scenes, you can corner the women, rape them again and again. The game allows you to even impregnate a girl and urge her to have an abortion. The reason behind your assault, explains the game, is that the teenage girl has accused you of molesting her on the train. The motive is revenge. http://www.cnn.com/2010/WORLD/asiapcf/03/3...dex.html?hpt=C2 A gaming protagonist with an actual and believable motive? That's pretty rare these days. So what do you think guys? The lot of you complain about "open-ended freedom", well, you've got it. Choice & consequences? Check, & check. Even children are no longer safe (much to the delight of FO1 fans no doubt!). Or do you think we've pushed the dolphin to the climactic point where spelunker aficionados must submit themselves to the penal system?
  20. Goddammit! They never fixed that infernal memory leak. You know the one. Where your FPS would gradually drop from 60 to 20 after a few hours, which would only be cured (temporarily!) with a hard reset of the entire system.
  21. Don't be a graphics whore. It's almost 10 years old, and was pretty decent looking for the time. Regardless, BoD is about its awesome sword-fighting gameplay, not pretty-boy dolled-up looks.
  22. Wow, wow, wow. It seemed they killed off red-shirt Love they way Oghren just belched it off, btw. Also, very impressed with way you can handle potential squad recruitment. Nathaniel in particular. Brilliant so far!
  23. That happened to me in one spot pretty close to the beginning of the game. I restarted and disabled all the fan-made mods I was using for Origins. Everything was okay after that. I dunno which mod(s) specifically were causing the problem, I just disabled them all. EDIT: They weren't any mods I could use in Awakening anyway, such as the respec potion, the ancient elven boots fix, and the "skip the fade" mod. I think that was it. Thanks, sleepless friend. Problem solved.
  24. Just started this. I imported my arcane warrior and everything seemed fine, except he was naked during the intro movie! It turns out that Bio disabled the importation of DLC items. Of course, I didn't know that at the time, so I re-loaded. Now I'm getting a black background around the characters with no textures. Has anyone run into this so far? I tried loading different characters, but it's still the same result.
  25. Just finished this. Mixed impressions to be honest. The Good D2 is a real old school RPG that doesn't hold your hand. Nothing's more annoying that having a freaking arrow pointing out where you have to go (yes, I'm talking about you FF), so D2 has a real explorative quality to it. In fact, there aren't even any quest markers so you really have to put your hiking boots on for this one, which I'm sure will be annoying for your konsole kiddies. That pleases me in itself. However, unlike most old skool rpgs, D2 has excellent production values ranging from a main score that rivals that of JE or Morrowind, to voice acting across the board that sounds like something out of a Bioware title. D2 also sports a fairly in depth enchanting and alchemy system for the closet potion brewers out there, or those of you who want to walk around with an uber-enchanted huge sword to, uh, over-compensate. There's even a necromancy creature creation system where you can build your pet summon from various body parts you find/buy, with each changing your creatures ability. Also, the ending was decent and reminiscent of The Empire Strikes Back meets Bioshock. So while the ending won't satisfy the plebeian masses, those who appreciate a good cliff-hanger will enjoy it. The mind-reading system was a breath of fresh air, and definitely one of my favorite features of the game. You could reveal motivations this way, obtain alternative quest routes/rewards, and otherwise indulge your inner megalomaniac! What's not to like? And the digital babes in this game were sexy and plentiful! This X-Factor tends to be an underrated and classically neglected component in "the thinking man's genre of gaming" so it's nice to see it included in a manner that bound to cause your little geek to become stricken with rigor mortis. I liked how slutty and promiscuous most of Rivellon's women were, be they farm girls or warrior women. Naturally, their pixellated boobs, booty, and legs fit hand in glove (pun not intended) with the revealing armor sets in the D2. The armor-sets actually were pretty good in and of itself, as it fulfills the dopamine fix of gotta catch 'em all. The Battle Tower was the highlight of the game IMO. Everything from earning it through a blood-letting siege, to managing it was very satisfying. D'Arnisse Keep (BG2) or Cross Road Keep (NWN2) don't have s*** over The Battle Tower (<--queer name though). The Bad The story is about as bland as Ruth Ginsberg's face. Even Oblivion had a better plot. It's basically that standard Good vs. Evil (with no real explanation as to why these people are good or evil), all tidily wrapped up with everyone's favorite plot device: The Deus Ex Machina. I'd shed a tear if it I hadn't already plucked my eyeballs out in frustration with the dragon battles (more on that later). Most of the NPC actually had names, rather than being called generic townsman 2 or whatnot. But they were named NPCs in name only! Most of them didn't really have any quests to give, or were just there for the flavor. The quests were rather stale, though, to be fair, they better than the average fed-ex fanfare you'd get from Bethesda. Not by much, mind you, but there's still a difference. Unfortunately, there were many highly questionable game design choices by Larian. And not just the horrible dragon parts, but those jarring extra-genres implements that smacked you in the face like Chris Brown on Rhianna. You see, at some point I'm thinking that the Larian folks forgot that they were making an RPG and decided "Hey you know what would be cool? platform jumping!" And so I was treated with a Prince-of-Persia / Jedi Knight love child bastard design element that involved a ledge hopping, platform dodging, dropable walkway timing, lever finding conundrum that excelled as an exercise in frustration. And let's not forget that half the features of the game (potion making, item crafting, creature making, dragon transforming) don't actually become available until half-way through the game, which kind of sucks. I suppose there's no real loss with regard to the dragon sucktitude, but still. The Ugly 2 things: Level scaling & dragon mode. D2 players need not read on, as even I wouldn't invoke the sadistic horrors kept hidden in your repressed memories. The level scaling system seems more capricious and whimsical than Brittany Spears parenting skills. You see, your character's level affected more than hitpoints, stats, powers, etc. of your dude. Instead, there seemed to be nefarious hidden stats at work. Meaning that if your character & enemy's level differential was anywhere around 3 or more, you would either get one-shotted faster than you can blink an eyelash, or you'd be out right IMMUNE from taking any sort of damage at all. This of course, made the game a pendulum act between Nintendo hard head-breaking, to a Micky Mouse breeze. Matters weren't aided with the broken combat system either. Although there were plenty of options for development in the classless system, most of the skills were complete, utter rubbish compared to Magic Blast, Explosive Arrows, & Two-Weapon fighting. With those 3 skills you could steam-roll the entire game. Without them, you'd be properly screwed at quite a few points. But the single, worst part of this game was without a shadow of a doubt: the dragon morphing parts. God, give me Deep Roads (DA) any day of the week, but not this. What would be the best way to describe it? How about being on a plane to what you think will be an exotic location, only for the plane to be shot down, burn up in flames, where you miraculously survive on a desert island only to discover that you're stuck on it with Rosie O'Donnell and Ellen DeGeneres. *shudders* I know what you're thinking? Transforming into a dragon must be good thing right? How could this not be totally sweet and awesome? The implementation would have to stink worse than Michael Moore's toilet seat for this to suck, wouldn't it? Well, you bet it does, so cover your nose Boo! Firstly, the devs artificially demarcated the NPCs in the environment while in dragon-mode. So while you could fly around in the same map with objects on that map, you couldn't attack the bogies on the ground. This, of course, was utter retarded as you still attack cannon-ball placements, etc on the ground. Instead, dragon mode combat consisted of a highly demented arcade style shooter (you're up against flying beasties and tower-shooting-thingies btw), which wasn't even implemented the way an arcade shooter should! What's more, the exploration of flight was artificially restrained with the anti-dragon barriers that would kill you upon entering or outright block your path, making the game not only more linear than it possibly could be, but also a duck-hunt for the deactivating lever. Ugh! Pixel searching for zeppelin parts in wyvern nests or lever-hunting for path removal has no place in any 21th century game, let alone a self-proclaimed cRPG. Overall: 4/10
