"This planet is ours, witch!"

It's technically not an intro, at least as of yet, but it beats most other cinematics out there.

They should stop making silly rts games and do a feature length movie instead :ermm:

I think we have a winner.

(I'm also really shocked at the lack of "All your base" jokes in this thread.)

Fallout 2. Awesome. Blast away those smucks with the mini guns when they opened the vault.

BG1. Great intro to Sarevok and what lies ahead for you.

VtM Bloodlines. O NOES! I've been turned!

Fallout 1.

Hades was the life of the party. RIP You'll be missed.

I've watched very few intros which made me 100% sure that I was going to love it. Fallout 2, and Diablo 2.

FO2 needs no explanation; D2 simply knew what it was, a series of in-game FMVs, and performed that role to a level of perfection I have seen hardly matched. It has its own story so you want to keep watching, it has amazing voice acting, it had great graphics and animation for the time and it was well paced and never too long. Blizzard sure knows how to do things right for what they are.

BG and Fallout.

i also liked TOEE's - if only because it was great to see the battle of emridy meadows visualised. everything went downhill from there.

Oblivion's wasn't bad either - that sweeping shot of the imperial city worked well.

Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos

Starcrat: Brood War

Dawn of War

Hellgate: London - if only the game was as good as all the media they produced

Would have to say that when someone mentions best game intros, I automatically think NES Ninja Gaiden. I was 10 or so and I popped that cartridge in and got something totally unexpected.

I loved NWN2's intro. I thought it was pretty cool.

I still love BGII's intro as well as the Fallout's.

But if I HAD to pick "Which introduction to a game has left the biggest impression on you?" I'd have to say Fallout. In that for an RPG it completely set the mood, feel, look of the setting the player was about to embark on. (BGII I thought did this also very good).

Sadly most games lately just go for flash and coolness... but don't do anything to help set the mood\feel\look of the game.

Most games have always done that.

While my love of SS2 knows no bounds, I always found its intro to fall a bit flat.

Yeah, I was hoping this thread would show me some new intro's but do far it's mostly been people reciting their most favourite games.

Come on, people, I'm sure noone really thinks Fallout or Neverwinter Nights 2 has the best intro they've ever seen..

Perhaps they are. Perhaps, their favorite games are their favorites partly because the intros drew them in. Buyt, yeha, everyone should have the same opinions as you. -_-

The intro for Mass Effect is really good.
