You need to go to http://eternity.obsidian.net, click on the My Account link in the top right (http://eternity.obsidian.net/account) and click on the "products" tab. Any available keys should be listed there. Keep in mind that the beta is not open to every kickstarter backer. You had to either back at a tier of $110+ or purchase beta access as an add-on.

Arrows/Spells have no arc
MasterPrudent replied to Chilloutman's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
I like the limited range of ranged weapons. It helps keep all the action on screen. -
What is your favorite class at this point?
MasterPrudent replied to Marceror's topic in Backer Beta Discussion
I love the Monk. I like how mobile the class feels as a result of its movement speed increases and the special ability that increases the range of its melee attacks. I also appreciate that it encourages an aggressive play style. You have to soak up damage to be effective and you have to use your special abilities during a fight otherwise you will be punished. -
Josh Sawyer on the "naked ranged characters" issue
MasterPrudent replied to Infinitron's topic in Backer Beta Discussion
This didn't happen to anyone in the first build of the beta which suggests to me that it's a matter of difficulty tuning rather than an issue with the design itself. No it's not. Degenerative gameplay, as defined by Josh anyway (and I've never seen anyone else use it), is when the user is incentivised to do things that defy the spirit of the game. An example of this would be reloading until one is not interrupted by enemies while attempting to rest in the IE games. The current health/stamina system is working as intended when it makes you consider whether you need to heal to win the current fight or if you can afford to hold back in order to win future fights. -
Hi Zainfee, as was mentioned during the kickstarter and multiple times during development the game will not be fully voiced. It will however feature voice acting for narration and key lines as in the IE games. I think the success of Shadowrun Returns and Divinity: Original Sin shows that for many players it's not an issue at all.

I dunno, bring two druids along or roll with a druid and a paladin and you'll be alright. It's probably more than possible to play without a healer at all. It's worth keeping in mind that healing, while still useful, isn't as handy as it is in other games because the more you have to heal in any one fight the more long term health you use up. Do too much healing and you'll win yourself a pyrrhic victory.

Not sure if it's exactly what you want but there's already a mohawk in the game. The only catch is that it's a woman-only hairstyle.

[BUG?] Cannot buy all camping supplies in the inn
MasterPrudent replied to Ink Blot's question in Backer Beta Bugs and Support

The Insane Beta Battles @ Crossing
MasterPrudent replied to swordofthesith's topic in Backer Beta Discussion
The placement of that lone beetle by the river is really odd. There's never any danger of pulling it into a larger fight and, as Sensuki demonstrated, it only takes a few seconds to get rid of it. It seems kind of pointless. -
Character Art Issue List
MasterPrudent replied to Sensuki's question in Backer Beta Bugs and Support
Sorry for misinterpreting but I think it's easy to see why I made the mistake. (Quality of art wise I think the thick eyebrows on the Aumaua model are to make them stand out clearly from the surrounding warpaint.) -
Character Art Issue List
MasterPrudent replied to Sensuki's question in Backer Beta Bugs and Support
The clipping is one thing but I don't know about the comments regarding characters' beauty. A little diversity is nice; just because you don't like thick eyebrows on women doesn't mean that someone else won't find it beautiful. And even if there was a universal standard of beauty I don't think that it would then follow that all the pc models should be as beautiful as possible. -
[BUG?] Cannot buy all camping supplies in the inn
MasterPrudent replied to Ink Blot's question in Backer Beta Bugs and Support
Camping supplies are supposed to be limited. The amount you can carry at any one time is affected by your difficulty level. -
You need to investigate this one a little more. Are you sure the Ogre was responsible? If the ogre was responsible you need to find out if she is still alive or not. Maybe you should track down the ogre... They're far from impossible. Maybe check out the second impressions thread for some combat tips. Go adventuring.

It might be worth attaching a save game or an output log otherwise it's going to be difficult for people to reproduce/fix this: http://forums.obsidian.net/topic/67421-how-to-save-output-logtxt-and-find-saved-games/

Yes. The Skaen priests robes that can be found/looted as well as the default clothing for Monks. You might be able to buy or find the latter as well but I don't think they're in the beta, outside of chargen.

[v278] Characters not centered in their own circles.
MasterPrudent replied to Hiro Protagonist II's question in Backer Beta Bugs and Support
It's probably a good idea to upload your save because I haven't seen this issue at all and wouldn't be able to reproduce it on my machine - the same might hold true for Obsidian. -
[BUG] v278 Merdreth's party leaves boar behind
MasterPrudent replied to Ink Blot's question in Backer Beta Bugs and Support
That's expected. The boar is an animal companion of a ranger in Medreth's party, right? -
I don't know if that was the plan all along or if you're putting her through some horrible crunch time now, but... thank you! That sounds awesome and I can't wait to see the result. Kaz is a he! But he posted that someone else did the level one druid icons the other day so he might be getting a little more help with the 2D art than most of us forumites had assumed.

Dyrford Ruins - Bridge - how to use hooks with ropes?
MasterPrudent replied to Blu3Fr0G's topic in Backer Beta Discussion
The short answer is that you're missing nothing; the interaction is bugged. The longer answer is that some people have had success with the grappling hooks from the dungeon but not with the ones from the store. Some people say that it worked when the hooks were in their pc's inventory. Others have reported no trouble at all. And some, like me, couldn't get it to work no matter what we did. In any case you don't need to cross the cavern to complete the quest as the locked door in the village tannery gets you into the side with the key and the hidden passage in the wilderness area with the beetles gets you into the other side. -
Pretty disappointed, this launches in December?
MasterPrudent replied to khermann's topic in Backer Beta Discussion
IF there is an expansion, that is. ...If you catch my drift. I dunno, that's super cryptic Helm, but I think you're suggesting that there might not be an expansion because of poor sales. I think it's a reasonable assumption that there will be an expansion, if only because most of the artists who worked on Pillars have started pre-production work on the expansion. Which is not to say that it couldn't be cancelled but that seems pretty unlikely. -

MasterPrudent replied to khermann's topic in Backer Beta Discussion
Permadeath is turned on on both expert mode and Trial of Iron (aka Ironman) mode. There is, however, an option in the menus to turn it on without enabling either of those modes. This has always been the plan. EDIT: If you're playing without permadeath characters will get up with a wound in more or less the same manner as Dragon Age. Wounds are much more debilitating than they are in DA though. -
They've announced on these very forums that they plan to release the first patch on Wednesday. Given the reactions from some folks on the board to the initial beta release I can understand why they'd want to release a patch with as many bugfixes/improvements as possible. (Got to agree with BlueLion though - the style of those new abilities looks perfect. Although I want to see how well they evoke the spells before I lavish too much praise on Kaz .)

2nd playthrough worse; couldnt pass 1st quest barely
MasterPrudent replied to ltolman's topic in Backer Beta Discussion
I suggest that if your wizard's grimoire vanishes again on your next play through that you hire yourself a druid, a chanter or a cipher and keep trucking on. -
Guess the release date!
MasterPrudent replied to Sensuki's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
I can offer one digital download of the game when the game releases. I'm not sure how many of the voters would be super keen on an extra PoE download seeing as most (if not all) of us are digital backers. I'm happy to put a few dollars towards a sub $50 gog or steam game of the winner's choice. -
playing a priest of Skaen: any differences?
MasterPrudent replied to RedSocialKnight's topic in Backer Beta Discussion
Excellent to know. Hopefully this is an indication that there will be similar unique options for other classes/backgrounds/etc at other areas in the game. Sylvanpyxie also confirmed that there's an extra option for ciphers in the Blood Legacy quest as well.
