Winged ants, flies, dragon flies, butterflies. They are "creatures". You never excluded bugs OFC if that's 4+ and not just precisely 4. If you want specifically 4 then Archaeopteryx. Lizard that could fly. So technically that's 2 legs + 2 arm-wings. They predated birds. Dragons in most fantasy also have more of a 2 front arms and 2 back legs and not just 4 legs. Do bats count?. Also it's not "mistake" with fantasy dragons because they are... you know fantasy dragons. It's also not "they can't" fly but rather "we don't know any that could" or any that through evolution were like that. Doesn't exclude the possibility. That + not all dragons have 4 legs Game of Thrones dragons look more like wyverns for example but are referred to as dragons so duh.

Because there seem to be no schools, magic feels limited. I myself always went for illusions, summoning, mind tricks, debilitating effects and necromancy. To me magic that is just about a lot of damage is too simply, boring and imagical. Cipher thus far looks far more interesting than wizard as does druid.

Feelings are subjective. To me POE feels very IE in regards to art. Obviously updated and higher fidelity. Bit different angle but the feel is there. Combat still needs work but I entirely disagree on the feel of art.

@morrow1nd, can you type with standard colour and font size instead of switching it every single post? It's annoying. Imagine if everybode types like that. Chaos. OR do you like this more @morrow1nd, can you type with standard colour and font size instead of switching it every single post? It's annoying. Imagine if everybode types like that. Chaos.

Oddity: All Seeing Spiders + Priest Nuclear Strikes
Killyox replied to Fen(rir)tastic's topic in Backer Beta Discussion
In v333 for example priest's Warding Seal could easily wipe out Medreth's whole group on hard as well as sometimes my chars would miss all their attacks and keep getting accuracy bonus and when I would take weapon off he would do ~3000 dmg by hitting with fists. Maybe this is somehting similar? Some hidden bonus that's not supposed to work like that. -
Elves can't successffully breed with humans and vice versa, their union does not produce offspring it seems. Thus they are two seperate species rather than races of a species. Of course Humans and Elves do have their own races within their species, can't remember the names right now, it'll be on the Wiki I assume. So with an elf girl you are 100% sure it won't be your kid. Cool stuff

[364] Issue: Can't make a female pale elf that looks like new portrait

Model's face looks like Daenerys from GOT. -
Movement speed is like Usain Bolt on crack. And they wear armor, weapons and should be on guard. Movement speed seems to be the biggest offender. I must say I really dislike how you need to pause the game every 0,25 seconds. I don't like slide-show style games and because of how combat is it certainly feels like it.

Aww, went straight to the butthurt? Perhaps you should review what you posted: As someone who is just reading this thread I got to say this is really unbecomming of a forum moderator. And as far as your discussions goes he did say ie gameS. You gave an example of ToB. Which was expansion to a sequel of a game and only at high levels. What with BG, IWD, PS:T BG2 early etc? I myself like per-encounter and per-rest. To people who say having just auto-attack is the same as having current per-encounter skills - you are wrong Simple autoattack has 0 space for decisions. Having abilities gives that space for decisions. You are also wrong saying it's bad not to use all per-encounter abilities. If you just spam then sure, it has no depth. But they should be used when needed. i don't just mindlessly Trip enemy for the sake of it. I fight and use it when needed. When my caster is attacked or enemy gets buffed or whatever else. If fight goes by with no real need to use it all then it's not a loss. I simply were prepared to certain extent to counter other stuff thrown at me.

Is it just me or combat is really tedious?
Killyox replied to Zeckul's topic in Backer Beta Discussion
It doesn't. That's the point. It was kickstarted and crowdfunded for it to not cather to everyone and their mom but to have a fixed target audience. If Obsidian dumbed the game down just for the sake of cathering to more people, broader audience, like is so popular now with big brands, then it would be the last time they saw my money. -

That's actually not the attribute of a turn based system that I'm referring to, ironically enough. Turn based systems are by their nature, methodical and ponderous. Combat in PoE is methodical and ponderous. There's your linkage. Turn based systems are system where game flow is partitioned with well-defined and visible parts called turns, nothing more nothing less. Although turn-based systems can be more complex than real-time systems without causing severe issues in game flow as by nature they have more disjointed game flow. You're missing a detail here. Turn based RPGs pause the game while the player considers and enacts his turn for each party member they control. This is the methodical and ponderous part that I referred to. I've played plenty of turn based video games in my day, that pausing component is a fundamental part of the experience. I liken that experience to the longer pause times that I experience also in PoE. No in turn based game there is turns where player can do their actions and then there is turns for other parties usually AI or game master. Turns can consist very simple things like move one game piece to another square. Turn-baseness don't bring anything methodical or ponderous in the game, but turn-based systems allow more complex rules without making game unplayable in extent that most players can't play it. Because of turns there is no pausing in turn based games as time is controlled by turns not by clock. I am sorry but the underlined part is not entirely true. Whether there is pause or not also depends on type of turn-based system. Take Magic the Gathering: Duels of the Planeswalkers for example. There are turns there but also there is pause for enemy to use instant spells. Turn-based is a very loose and arguable term. It doesn't have fixed definition really. It can only be described in general sense. Might and Magic: Heroes VI for example also has turn based combat but based on units and not players. Xcom has turn based combat based on player and AI going one after another. Wasteland 2 has turn based system based on initiative and sequence. There are turns but units with higher initiative act not only sooner but also more often. I am seeing you guys arguing over semantics. What I am getting on with this is that there isn't any point in doing so due to loose nature of the term. -
Combat XP Poll - Let's See What We Think Now
Killyox replied to SergioCQH's topic in Backer Beta Discussion
I play for the fun of collecting xp. Why not play an MMO, like WOW, you can grind your way to max lvl with nothing but killing stuff. When you're done, do it again in different zone or diff char. Or GW2 where you get XP and benefits even at max level. No sarcasm intended. You will collect lots of xp -

Do people play for XP or for fun? I will go into that dungeon even with 0 XP for it just to have fun fights and maybe find some loot. Some XP would be ok for kills but if there is none it won't really bother me in any way at all. -
Combat XP Poll - Let's See What We Think Now
Killyox replied to SergioCQH's topic in Backer Beta Discussion
The game as it currently stands is truly a "Trial of Grinding" because you still have to wade through tons of enemies, but now you're not rewarded for it. Loot is your reward I guess. -
Way to hyperbole. They never said they will make old game. They said they will try to recapture magic of old games, not their flaws or mechanics to the boot. It is 2014 after all. Unless you want all of 2000s stuff and 640x480 resolution to go with it as well ? Oh, so granting XP for kills is flaw? Maybe you know some popular modern RPG that doesn't use this 'flawed mechanic'. Witcher maybe? LOL I never said it was flaw. Just that it's not the end of the world and can have a positive impact. Give it a try. Witcher is actually using killing xp really good. For gathering more info about your prey and so on. Geralt is a monster hunter afterall. Anyways, Shadowrun Returns also does not give kill xp. Just objectives xp. It works just fine too.

Fallout. 1997. Baldur's Gate. 1998. Yeah, genre was dead when BG got released. Yes, it was dead. LOL. Yes it was, do you know why I know that? Because I experienced it. ALL the big rpg series where dead, no company dared to make new ones, their was not a single good RPG for years. We have been playing different games then

I think leaving experience out is decent idea. At least there is no forcing to kill something for XP. In Wasteland 2 I can prevent fighting guys at the first Radio Tower and get xp and then just kill them and...get more xp which is somewhat stupid. On the other hand just tying it all to quests may be punishing for people that don't do all of quests as well as don't progress far into quest chain for some reason.

Scroll of Revival for most ppl would be very very valuable. Someone could stash it in such a place to hide it well from others. How does that not make any sense to you is beyond me.

It would be good to put info from that pic in the actual post. Some of it is hard to read with red font and all Ł=

Help! I've got a beta key and I don't want to use it!
Killyox replied to Hormalakh's topic in Backer Beta Discussion
Feel free to throw it at me -
Performance is always left for the end. Alpha is focused on features of the game, beta on polishing them and the game overall and end of beta is focused on making performance better when all else is taken care of.
