  1. I must say I am rather happy that Bethesda is making Fallout 4 and not Obsidian. Thanks to that we can have Project Eternity (and F4) I long for old-school isometric RPGs that are story driven but with some refined, more modern mechanics, that improve or take place of those that were not good. I am sure Obsidian delivers when it comes to reactivity and plot. Then I hope they also make combat fun and entertaining with balanced classes and skills.
  2. I just hope it doesn't end up as in case of Skyrim. Blacksmithing + Enchanting = god mode infinite power loop
  3. Huh? There were 10 on-use abilities available to the warrior pool in BG2. But the subject is not Promises vs BG2. It's Promises vs Infinity Engine Games. Plural. BG1 ID1-2 PS:T etc had nothing going for melee characters. Expanding upon what you have said; 10 skills is not that good when you consider how many close combat focused classes you had and that you couldn't have those 10 skills until very high level. They were also for the same classes, no uniqueness like in the case of spells. You could not even have all of them, just some, and even then usable like once or twice per day if memory serves. That's not something I want in modern RPG.
  4. Thoughts? GREAT NEWS! Why? Because I still have it fresh in my mind when fighters in Dragon Age could not regenerate stamina, there were no stamina potions and after 2 special attacks all you could do for the rest of the fight was to auto-attack. Mages on the other hand had items regenerating mana and potions. It's staple mechanic to have certain classes in RPG resource mechanic; Diablo 3, mana, rage, arcane power, hatred etc. Now imagine they could not regenerate it... BOOORIIING
  5. Some people will like PE more, some less and some not at all. There is nothing wrong with it really and it applies to everything man-made or not. Different people have often different expectations and needs. It's impossible to satisfy everyone in this regard. I must agree that Infinity Engine games were amazing...back in their day. Everything evolves. There are now better solutions to User Interface, computing, programming, combat systems and so on. You must take what was bad and throw it out the window and leave only the good things. Obsidian certainly keeps in mind that we live at present and needs to adjust the game to current solutions. UI must be easy to use, sleek, intuitive but also simple so it doesn't pull your attention away from the game. Combat needs to be interesting and engaging. Providing interesting engagements that can be completed in many ways without being similar to each other. Melee, ranged and magic has to be useful and fun for players to use it and similarly powerful so there is incentive to do so. All in all I think they are going in the right direction with the game based on what we have been shown and told. I don't want BG1 v2.0 or BG2.0 or PST2.0. I want new game that takes all the ebst things from those and improves upon them. EDIT: I must say that I most definitely do not want the return of D&D mechanics. While sorcerers and clerics were okay, melee fighters only amounted to point-attack-forget.
  6. Hello everyone! I was thinking to myself about all the information about Project Eternity. There is constant stream of updates about classes, world, lore, races, religions and many more things. There are however some of us (and there will be more when the game is released) that would like to know it all but instead of having to look around for it, to have it all in one place. Now don't get me wrong. I am fully aware Obsidian does not actually have lots of free time but hear me out. I think it would be great to have some Project Eternity PDF Compendium of sorts. That could get occasionally updated with new games and new information (if there are new games). It would allow many of us to indulge ourselves into lore-nerdinessy . Maybe even make it an online project instead of PDF, or both. I for one would be more than happy to know all the additional bits an' pieces that may not be thoroughly explained in the game. It would help players understand the world of PE better and get more out of the game itself. It would work as an additional background for the game and make it more alive, closer to us. Don't know if this has any chance of ever happening or if something similar was discussed/planned but I'm dropping it here. I am interested in hearing if anyone else would wish to see something like this made. EDIT: Just so you know. It would be a little different from the Wiki. I guess info from it would eventually end up on wiki too though.
  7. Thought's? That is far fetch from realistic. Realistic would be if after getting critically hit in hand with sword you would lose it. If your leg would get broken you would be crippled and generally slower etc for like 6 in-game months etc. Not just until the end of combat. It would make next engagements more dangerous.
  8. Well who says the LAW must bow to these petty humans? I think that Lawful is, as an alignement kinda bad. I would slap on Righteous on paladin more so than lawful. Following mortal laws is not what paladin does, he follow laws of his god imo at least https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=10KObAQFmlY In the end it (his monstrum) worked:>
  9. Your zealos dislike of religion and zeal dooms you. It's not dislike. It's just that your generic cleric or paladin is follower of god abiding by set of rules etc. Often those generic rules don't sit well with me. I don't mind angels and so on but I choose what I believe instead. For example; your generic necromancer is evil, scheming and would eat your soul. I would wish to play neutral good necromancer. I don't have to curse people and send undead against them to be necromancer. Necromancy is just a knowledge, a tool if you will that can be used for good and evil. If i could raise someones tragically killed wife in game so they could have last words of parting to lessen the sorrow I would do it for the good. It's like with knives. They can be used for preparation of food for the hungry (good) making yourself a snack (neutral) or stabbing people in the threat (evil). In the end it's tool. Generic stuff be damned
  10. From BG2 I only remember Minsk Dynaheir, Sarevok and that elf girl mage/cleric. Minsk wascool, dynaheir damn annoying, sarevok was ok and that elfie was meeeehh. From BG1....some of those form BG2 obviously and that's it. From PS:T, every single one. Morte, Anna, Ignus, Dak'kon, Nordom,Vhailor, Fall-From-Grace. Each and single one of them had really deep personality and was memorable in their own way. I will take any day of the week 9 really deep and varied CNPCs than bland and uninteresting ones.
  11. I want to play necromancer that isn't evil .
  12. Not really interested in a paladin myself. I dislike zealots on principle. I also don't like religious stuff so paladins and clerics are no-no. Druids, Monks, Sorcerers, Fighters etc are all fair game though. Everything that does not make my character god follower etc is fine.
  13. Fallout 3 was "good". Nothing more, nothing less. It suffered from limitations of engine and like it or not it was first Fallout for Bethesda. Fallout: New Vegas was Very Good despite engine limitations same as F3. Thing is story, world, plot all were superior. While I myself would prefer it was Obsidian doing next Fallout I have hope Bethesda learned a trick or two from Obsidian. I don't think anyone should antagonize Bethesda though. Thanks to them we even got Fallout 3 and New Vegas because they revived the brand. Also because Bethesda makes F4 now we can see Project Eternity
