My bad—confused that with something else. All right then; your point stands. EDIT: actually, a question—do enemies killed with a Cleaving attack trigger another Cleaving attack? If yes, that’s ridiculously OP.

I understand the Cleave cheese puts them up there, but I consider that a bug and therefore take for granted that it will eventually go away. If I’m wrong, then yes—Fighters are top-tier DPSers.

Fighters are not, in fact, the best DPS class. But they already have a subclass that makes the best tanks—they don't need all of them to be. It would be pretty boring.

Is this actually the case. Not that ive been messing with the beta i just saw this on somethingawful IIRC, it is. Try a Berserker/Wizard, for example. Cast Infusion of Vital Essence to gain an INT Inspiration, then go berserk. The Confused Affliction wipes your INT Inspiration; the net effect is that you're free of both and get to reap the benefits of the berserk rage without Confusion.

Monk beta analysis
A Shattered Pillar can use Duality of Mortal Presence to keep INT at +5 at all times and increase the duration and AoE of Torment's Reach. You can instruct the A.I. to use Torment's Reach only at 5 wounds; with a well-built Monk, getting 5 wounds is fairly quick and Torment's Reach generates at least 1 wound itself. You'll be back up at 5 in no time and Torment's Reach goes off again. The +10 is more useful to Helwalkers, IMO. That's the subclass that really wants to hold onto the wounds, and getting +10 CON or INT on top of +10 MIG is pretty good. EDIT: Has anyone tested the talent that lowers the threshold for wounds with a Shattered Pillar? Does it lower the amount of damage you need to deal to generate a wound?

Two handed style seems weak
What if you pumped Alchemy and chugged Potions of Deftness? In theory, a Fighter/Monk with Armored Grace + Lightning Strikes + Potion of Deftness should be able to attack with a 2H at decent speed and fairly high accuracy, damage, and penetration. Granted, it also depends on what armor you're wearing but medium should be enough for this character. That said—yes, 2H needs a buff to be competitive with the other styles. In terms of talents, DW and S&S offer much better bonuses (haven't really checked 1H in a while; did they change it at all? Was rather underwhelming IIRC.)

Content’s fine in PoE already (and the new content in the BG EEs is of dubious quality at best.)

We need more methods to boost PL
I’d like PL to make more of a difference, first and foremost—and I know you agree with this, already As mentioned in the tiers thread, the Fighter ability should probably be +2 PL. Passives with +PL would be great, but +1 PL is pretty weak—I probably wouldn’t spend a talent point on less than +2; even then, if PL isn’t made to be more impactful, I’d probably only take the passive if it was +2 PL and something else. I like the elemental talents as +1 penetration. Once they fix key wording, they’ll go well with summoned weapons, wildstrike, some bombs and a number of spells (Caleb confirmed they’re on it; no word on whether Wildstrike will be affected but we’ll see.)

PatriotChief — you can make the AI evaluate the condition every X seconds to avoid spamming. Works really well. Set the seconds to the duration of the buff and your characters will renovate it when it expires.

Same with lash weapons, Firebrand, etc.
