Expansion in two parts
illathid replied to BrainMuncher's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Paradox does have this reputation but it is mostly by those who don't actually understand how Paradox builds their DLCs. Each main DLC adds a large amount of new gameplay unlike the traditional DLCs other publishers put out. Additionally, with each major DLC, many new free features are added to the base game that are available to players who never pay for said DLC. No They don't. Just look at Crusader Kings II. There is DLC containing 3 music pieces or 20 new portraits and stuff like that. Bah. Paradox could've bundled the gameplay, music, and graphics DLC into one item, but them everyone would've had to pay for all of it instead of just the parts you want. It's a consumer friendly model. On topic, "chunky expansion" and "split into 2 parts" are not a contradiction. "Chunky" to me refers to total content amount, so as long as each part has lots of content (say 10-20 hours of gameplay?) they can each still be chunky. -
Pillars of Future, new Engine
illathid replied to argenti's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Exactly, because it has had great success I think to the his future. Soon will come out other tactical rpg and probably they will be 3d. I think this Obsidian, has taken into reckoning. I disagree. i think the best looking tactical rpg released for a while is Banner Saga: As you can see, there's no 3d modeling in sight. Everything was drawn by hand. Granted, PoE doing something like this is about as likely as it going full 3d. But on a purely atheistic scale, 2d is better. P.S. Banner Saga 2 is coming out this year as well. -

Pillars of Future, new Engine

Pre-renders let you do the same thing but it is less resource intensive for the end user. Yes, but you have limits. With the 3D you can open many possibilities such as the management of physics. Watch Divinity Original Sin, with the prerender certain things they would not have been able to achieve. Oh... Well then thank god! I don't want Pillars to be anything like that awful piece of trash. Thank you. You've convinced me even further that doing except per-rendered is the biggest mistake Obsidian could make. -

Dislike. Pre-rendered backgrounds and fixed camera are better. -
Some nags with the realism

Realism/simulationism needs to die in a fire. This is a game. -
Patch notes for 1.03

My experience with Aloth has been completely the opposite. 2 free magic missiles every trash fight with incredible spells to whip out in the hard fights. Wonderful balance. You aren't supposed to fire spells off constantly - nor are you supposed to just save them and never use them. Playing a Wizard correctly is all about rationing properly - it's a resource management game. If you don't like it, there's always Ciphers or Chanters for unlimited casting. So it's by design that you have to spam auto-attack for most battles? I like IE game implementation better, casting spells is fun. Come now, did you read what Matt wrote? Bad show, mate. -
People have come to expect their games to be buggy because 8/10 of their games ship buggy. The buggiest game I've played before this one was Fallout:NV. I've played over a hundred games since then easy. It's okay for games to have a few bugs. Even a major one at launch. Whatever. But this game has at least five game brea- wait. let's not say game breaking. Even though they are game breaking, people tend to say things in response like 'well, it's not really game breaking cuz you can still play even though your missing an entire category of stats". Let's call them critical. At LEAST FIVE very critical bugs. Five...unacceptable. Obsidian deserves their reputation as a buggy developer. I love obsidian and to reiterate OMG I LOVE THIS GAME TO DEATH!! but I hope the bugs in this game compact and cause people to criticize them even more for shipping buggy games. It's the only way they will start taking it seriously. They know their reputation and they STILL ship a game like this? COME ON! Well anecdotes do not make for good statistics. You're having a buggy experience, I am not. Unless we have some more detailed analysis, neither of us can say for certain which is the more common experience. And that's the fact of the matter.

I believe it's just vanilla commands. I installed the IE mod last night and played around with the commands. Then went to defiance bay and got the trophy for completing the act. I do have a question though... Could someone list what the code names for the vanilla companions are? Tried using the find character command to find out but it never displayed anything...
