  1. Well I started on hard and didn't find it too much of a challenge. Furthermore, as you might have noticed I know what Might, Dex, Int, Res, Con and Per modify, but find it unclear whether paladins abilities are affected by it. Thanks for the reply but I meant that attributes relative effect upon Paladin's abilities, not in general. The d100 role example clarified a lot.
  2. Hi people, I've been contemplating upon my paladin built. Rest of party will comprise: Cypher (ranged dmg dealer - wood elf) Druid (Death Godlike, aoe / nuker / cc) Priest (Buffs / Support) Chanter (Main tank - aoe buffs) Monk (DPS Off-tank) So for my paladin I'd like to go Darcozzi or Goldpact (either one is ok) - Human (this is set) I'd like my paladin to be a moderate buffer for my party Q1: Which attributes moderate the; 1) Strenght of aura's / abilities (seems to be static and not moderated by might) 2) AOE range of ability (it seems to be static and not moderated by intelligence) 3) Duration of ability (idem dito - intelligence) Furthermore, it seems that perception (high) has a chance to interrupt enemies; since I'd like to be the ultimate single-target hitter (big blows), would it be viable to max Might, Dex and Perception, dropping Resolve (seems least important in regard to offensive abilities)), Intelligence (seems not / moderately important (if it affects aura's range and duration) and Constitiuon (be kept at moderate level)? Please give me your thoughts, have been in character creation for hours romanoww
  3. Loving the reply Lasci; What about having the Chanter built as main tank (shield and weapon), Pali as secondary. Thus being able to make a more damage-oriented paladin (with 2-handed weapon). Could reduce Res and Per with 1 (since you get an early item buffing both stats with +1). Adding it up to Might. Furthermore Con or Dex could be deduced (thinking about the latter) into a dump stats. M: 19 C: 12 D:7 P:15 I:10 R:15 Would this be viable?
  4. Hi all, I've been playing PoE for a while now. Playing it on hard but not finding it enough of a challenge (although I reload quite a lot; need a harder challenge). I'm not totally on par with the mathematics of the combat mechanics, thus would like some help. So, I've got the following planned. Want to get my custom-build party at level 2 in Gilded Vale. Front-line melee: Paladin (either Darcozzi or Goldpact) - Protagonist Tanky with high damage output when swinging a double-handed sword / or other- thus low attack speed but high impact- preferably Human for role-playing concerns. Single-target damage + tanking main concerns, buffs and aura's secondary. Dump stat would be dexterity and maybe con (due to high resistances from Resolve and Perception). Monk (or other) High DPS while fulfilling a secondary tanking role. Chanter (or other role more fit for front-line crowd-control) Primarily focused on front-line crowd control and tanking. Ranged: Druid Main focus on AOE damage and occasionally going in melee (thus hybrid). AOE damage primary concern, crowd-controll secondary Priest Main focus single-target and AOE buffs for front-line. Cypher Max ranged damage output (preferrably single-target) with crowd control. How would I set-up such a party (stats-wise); the protagonist (Paladin) should also have some dialogue options (thus investing in Int, Res and Per). This thread might be too open-ended, but any suggestions or references would be more than welcome. romanoww
  5. I'm also curious on the ' to-go-to' spells, Most useful spells seem AOE (also affecting team-members), which requires on the point spellcasting. If I Delve into my BG experience, always spam those magic missiles (penetrate through high resistance enemies) , Furthermore, I'd be focusing on crowd control abilities and not so much as damage. But it would be nice if someone could set-up a lost for the best cc / damage / buff/debuff spells! 2
  6. Started a barbarian with 19 Might 16 Int and 17 Dex (10 Con) dump stats are resolve and perception (both 8 and . Seems pretty decent so far (playing on hard), First playthrough won't be around having the most badass party. This will come in latter playthroughs
  7. Thanks for the replies guys. I used to play rogues out of pure necessity for classic RPG-parties. Since a rogue was a must-have for lock-picking and trap detection, I figured it'd be best if I would play the role myself! However, I'm planning on running a comp without a rogue in PoE. Barbarian seems to be the most compelling route to take so far, but any more suggestions are welcome! I guess double-wielding only works for Rogues/Rangers?
  8. Hi people, I’m very excited to acces PoE through steam tomorrow. In good fashion, a highly anticipated game starts with preplay build-crafting. I used to be a die-hard fan of de BG-series, completing BG II several times (on insane). I loved to build a party around my protagonist who was the main damage dealer (fighter/mage multi-classed e.g.). Literally, any party member was built around either taking aggro from my PC or buffing my PC. Now I’m looking to do the same thing in PoE, but I’m indecisive on what class/race to play. Was thinking of a paladin (for role-playing purposes), but they seem rather useless on the offensive part. Now I’ve heard/seen several queues that would imply class is not all-defining in what your character will be capable of… The deal is I want to play the game on the hardest-difficulty. This probably requires a Min/Max type of approach for my PC. What class (& race) is offensively (melee or melee/caster) most suitable for dealing tons of damage while the rest of the party buffs, debuffs and crowd-controls enemies? I’d be open to any suggestion that IS NOT a rogue. Would like to hear your suggestions!
