Attributes
The attributes need tweaking and Health, Accuracy, and Deflection should be based more on Constitution, Perception, and Resolve. But the system is decent in theory and wouldn't be improved by spliting magical and physical damage.

Well it's an ocean covered area so I'll go out on a limb and say we'll see all those sea creatures, tentacles creep me out so any chance to exterminate krakens, squidmen, or other mollusks is good in my book. So that's a wilder and a few beasts that we're getting. For Primordials I'd like to see more varities of Delemgans and a seaweed lurker. Spirits I think more ghosts, varities of blights, and a sea banshee siren would be cool. Vessels I'd like to see more automations. Oh, and a ghost kraken, fampyr dragon, army of squidmen, a giant primordial ooze or spore, and an ancient automation-lich thing as part of a mega dungeon for the expansion or dlc.

PK htiw klaw eriF replied to JFSOCC's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)Yeah, in NWN a +2 in Hit and Damage doesn't mean much for a low ac character with 2 attacks per round and the loss of spell slots and spell DC is damning. Anything outside of pumping Intelligence as much as you can is a waste for a NWN wizard because spells will be superior than melee 99% of the time. And let's not even get into how you couldn't pick up a sword or put on armor without spending a once every 3 level resource. Comparatively in PoE my Wizard's spell casting improves with every stat besides Constitution. Might increases damage, Dexterity increases casting speed, Intellect increases AoE and Duration, Perception increases interrupt and accuracy, and Resolve improves concentration. Resolve is dumpable because concentration wasn't implemented very well, but otherwise every stat improves my Wizard's survivability and/or spellcasting prowess. If you want to argue that PoE stats are small in factor that's fair, but they allow more choice in theory than D&D's pump your main stat or suck.

It's magic dude, there's no real world physics that says being swole won't increase the damage of your fireballs as much as being smart. Besides, you're describing a character with high Resolve aka willpower so why not boost that?

PK htiw klaw eriF replied to JFSOCC's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)Might does as well, except it applies to damage with crossbows, firearms, and magic instead of having no attribite benefit damage or splitting off magic into some other stat. As a system it works, if anything the attributes that need work is Resolve and maybe Perception, everything else is clear and useful. Anyways I finished PoE+WM last night. Overall I'll say I felt it was an improvement from 1.x, the only quests I didn't finish were the bounties and combat felt nicer and either they changed something or you can get back to a certain city after a certain point in the game. Did get signifigantly easier late game though. Main issue I had was the pacing, Act 2 feels loaded while Act 3 feels very sparse in comparison and more quests like Champion of Berath would have been nice to give more content to Act 3 as well as puttig WM2 behind that event. Bounties should have moved some to Act1 and 2, a big reason why I didn't complete them was because they were gated off till close to the end and my party hit max level anyways. Theres also mechanical issues with the classes, but thankfully none of them were near as bad as a single class thief. Overall I'll say this run was a hell of a lot more fun than my first and I'm looking forward to multiclassing in Deadfire. I did play with the IE mod though. Oh and what do we import from? My game has an auto-save right before the final fight and the choices made right after that seem important. IE mod with autosaves every 30 minutes.

Content wise probably around the same or a little bigger given the higher base level cap. Personally I want them to work on pacing as opposed to amount of content, PoE feels like a lot of content is packed into the second act with the 3rd act feeling sparse in comparison. Could just be my perspective though.

That sounds like a game that would be so tedious that playing it becomes a chore.

It's fantasy magic, not real world science, intellect doesn't need to increase magic damage because some of you want the skinny nerd in a dress to be a demigod. Anyways having played through PoE's 2nd act and WM, I have to say I'd like for the expansion to be seperated more and not get locked out of certain areas after a certain event. PoE 3.whatever plays better than 1.whatever though, immunities make Prayer against StatusEffects much more valuable and I really like the WM content. And Rogues seriously need to be better, Devil of Caroc got booted when I finished her quest so Manhea could frenzy and jump into mobs. - US attacks on Syria
