  1. I love it. Think that 3D art should defenetly be inspired from his work. That picture of dwarf ranger on kickstarter page http://s3.amazonaws.com/ksr/projects/289461/posts/310512/image-159904-full.jpg?1347923140 is something close to his artstyle. It is promising if they choose to go that way.
  2. I dont want it to be gloomy world. But whn surrounded by pack of Goblins or Orcs or some other evilish traditional I would want my character die rather than being gang raped and than eaten. Also I would love to go to woods in hope of capturing a nymph and do the same to her exept eating her. That is why you need a garden infront of your house.
  3. The little I have seen looks pretty good to me. Who ever painted that dwarf ranger did great job and I hope that will be generall tone of the art. So far what little has been shown is tthat its nor warcraft and anime uber stylised and it isnt exactly photorealistic. I would call it belivable, proportionate, semi realistic. Semi being their own artistic touch. I just hope they will not be making ubersized shoulder pads and large exo-skeleton armors. I would rather like to see some pretty textures and stylised armor inspired by genuine medival ages than warhammerish/starcraft tank walking characters.
  4. RPGs have been watered down to appeal to broader audience and different platforms. I think majority got excited whn they sid they are gong back to roots. Reasoning in this project should be what people loved about those and can with todays tech be built on it. Evrything yo wanted to see in old titles but could not becouse of tech limitations.

So I am not sure what is your point? Dislike for the gun or that you see oriental influences where they might not even be?
  6. So far so good. They are about to hit 1.6 mill so another update is on the way. Hope to see some more concept art.
  7. Have it straight forward than, let the phyical build of your character be determened by his/her attributes, exept height, color of skin, hair and some other things :/ As for Npc's, it is about devs to make diversity. I hope we will still have Custom portraits option.
  8. I think vancian magic system is brilliant. But it is intended more for pnp. Maybe combination of vancian, point and power based spell system? You have Spellbook and memorise spells you want to use. These cost less mana, less time to cast and chances are higher they will work as intended. Any spells that were not memorised need longer time to cast, higher concentration (easier to disturb casting) During casting one can use mana or stamina to empower spells for higher or added effect. If a character is using particular spell over longer time period he gains it as permanent memorised spell or simply gets more proficient in that particular school of magic, it comes easier to him. There can be many ways to build this system.

  10. I like your arguments and some others. Death may seem cheap this way, if you are rich that is. But I still perfer permadeath. It just adds to tension in combat and I acually care for characters even if I dont like particular companion, I need his/her skills. Even if I had saved game i was hesitatnt and carefull entering new areas. In DAO I basically rushed in most of time and no post combat experience was issue as opposed to BG early on gameplay If I spot goul or ghast I do my best to avoid combat if I cant take him from distance. Early on desease, poison and paralasis was quite an issue. If you remove death with injury, than you cheapen the injury in similiar manner. Who cares if my arm is broken, just sprinkle some "remove heavy injury" and ready to go again. Maybe you loose influence points with your companions if they get too many near death expiriences while you dont. Maybe both you and they can get some negative traits, flaws that reflect on 'permanent' attributes, abilities, skills etc. There need be some compromise.
  11. Thanks, Tig. But I am not the target audience here. There is a difference between a concept mage robes that look like mage robes and women wearing Tit armor that exposes the belly. I don't really like feminists, but I am with them on this one. Or some Saudi Arabian guys with muskets... You can't have those without a camel... Concept art depicting guy with a gun looks pretty good to me, nicly stylised, not too much, pretty "realistic", aka no giant shoulderpads and uber sized weapons. See typical 15 century armies. Hmmmm...Saudi Arabian guys? Doesnt see that paralell. I am with you on "tit armor" Victoria Secret breastplate + 3 protection hehe
  12. This...tepepathy and telekinesis just might be branch of one magic school. If not, than we have to see whats devs vision of psionics. So far I had to say no, becouse for me it is magic until further notice.
  13. Traditional with a twist i guess. For all I care this just might be pararell universe of Abeir-Toril. Although with more mature setting. Generally rich and interesting lore about species and you cant go wrong.
  14. OP nailed it and I am happy that developers are aware of it. Still a sidequest "destroy ancient/ressurectet evil" ( orrr support it for whatever it may offer inreturn) wouldnt hurt either. Many have weakness for mystirious ancient myth stuff etc
  15. No reason to unpledge, it is still very blocky information we got. But I think it is good that OP voiced his opinion and worries. Devs DO want that, to hear what we expect, would like to see in game and what not. They said they made this project so they would be more involved with community and they would listen to community. I dont understand this hostility some of you have towards OP. Devs ego wont suddenly inflate and they will stop this project becouse someone feels his expectations for the game are being shattered. OP is basically worried that only 5 companions means they will dumb this game down. If we can expect same from this game as some titles that were mentioned I want ability to kill some of my companions, annoying ones especially. Maybe the moment I see them, I might pay consequences later on. Why not give me that satisfaction, why limit it. Remeber encounters with yourcompanions in BG. As for House, thats OK. But whn I heared about this project I hoped they will take from previous titles and build upon it. Maybe some characters are content with simple housing but what if you RP evil or good for that matter but "scheming" character and you want your own lair? Secret hideout? My english is not good. It can be stereotypical cave, wizards tower, maybe even you can make your own faction or secret society as those we encountered in BG and BG2. You had these in Fallout as well. Rogue class might have their own thieves guild, some sort of spynetwork or you can even use your companion to influence them to have that position if you play different class. As for magic I am with OP in this one. I really dont know what to make out of soul magic? He said soul is tied to magic and empowering magic or something like that. What does it really means and will magic be dumbed down? As someone mentioned before DAO had about 40 spells and BG 300. So it is okej to ask these questions early on as devs go through this process of making the game. I hope devs will give us ability to make our own spells. Either ingame or some sort of editor. So questioning this early is great and I think devs will apreciate feedback. They said they want to go back to roots and build on that. What OP is mentioning is something that was also voiced in BG and was made for BG2, strongholds for instance aka housing. Anyway I have feeling this is sort of prototype for what is to come :D
  16. I hoped there would be destructble enviroment...a fireball in a house! Or on a house...fun fun fun! It will be okej with 2d background and 3D chars. But i have to agree that there hasnt been yet system to visually create your 3d character as a 2D portrait can do. Remeber those awsome portraits from BG series and IWD, there are none 3D creation game that can capture what 2D portrait can offer. I still hope there will be way to modify your character beyond hair color. Not face nescesserlly as Portraits can cover that, but body type scale, fat, muscular, size and such...leave faces to portraits.
  17. I guess most are lore fanatics, if world you have entered is immersive and interesting you just want to know evrything about anything. Ahhh If i could just recapture that feeling from BG...but I maybe i am just chasing the dragon and cant rally catch him :D hehe
  18. If this project depends on donation, than this is happening. They reached their goal and there is still 30 days left. I am positive about this!
  19. Since its not pnp they should add mana/stamina bar for mages. But I dont belive they should nerf spells for that matter, rather make it more tactical. Memorised spells cost less mana to cast and take less time to cast. Also higher % that they will work as intended. Unmemoriesed spells, reading from the book, take longer time to cast and cost more. High end spells might be devastating, but can be exorting on character, as it can take longer time betwean casting or even makes character unrespond, faint etc. Many interesting possibilities. One could boost spells by adding more mana to spell and giving it better effects as more damage obviously. Or even on higher lvls ability to cast several lower lvl spells and make spell combo on fly. Or just ability to cast lot of spells very fast until certain lvl, depending on skill/perk one choses.

  21. There will be dwarves, possibly human ones...and good party needs its maskot, so yes to dwarves.
  22. Hmmm. This can be tough one, skill system is cool,and you have lot of freedom but people end up being jack of all trades. Having multiclasses and good class progression, prestigeclasses etc is also interesting and very rewarding especially if you are working toward specific class. There are lot of good arguments here for both...i just realize my english is very limited. Hmm, but mission here is to revive feeling of BG series, ice wind dale etc. So I will have to trust devs on this one, unless they make their own sistem, something betwean class and skill system, depends on what skills you hone you get your class???
