  1. defenetly no must...like they had in BG2, have flirts or something. My characters motivation is never "love" for another character, unless it is practical in some way, like those influence points and you already break the code of asskissing characters personality through dialog to earn those. Since you know their approval wil benifit you in the end. It becomes part of gamemechanics...but they stated that companions are optional and that makes me happy.
  2. Baldurs Gate, my first true love of rpg and adventure games.
  3. OP has a good point. Hope Obsidian will take notice of some very good advices community has to offer.
  4. Born Montenegrin, raised brunost-and-bakels-Norwegian. Pozdrav komsija seems we are neighbours, I am in Hordaland
  5. So, souls in this setting are sort of trapped. There is this cycle of birth and rebirth, both in flesh of "our" reality aka bodies and death (rebirth of the soul) .Seperation from the whole, which might be the universe or whatever. Sounds like something from the Vedic sanscripts. Something ("Gods", some law even "Gods" cant control) is making souls get reborn again and again. As it was mentioned before, bodies are sort of batteries. So souls go to this higher dimension and than are flung back again. I guess our character becomes "awake", something like Buddah on steroids. I am awake and I am angry! grrr So, how does this realm of souls looks like...will it remaina mystery somewhat or are devs going into the realm of higher dimension with a twist, giving us taste of how higher demesions work rather than our limited 3D sight. I would love to see some different approuch to godlike realms than another Elysium or Tartarus add ons and explanations we see in traditional fantasy. Especially since this will have mature setting. I just found this video, i initially searched 5th demension becouse someone once told me that is where souls are and than this came up and it is kinda awsome. I hope devs cook some nice lore.
  6. Arcanum was great in many ways. Only thing that I disliked, which was kind of core of the game was tech vs magic. Whn I bought game i had totally different expectations, I thought decline of magic was becouse of people prefered technology becouse it was more accessable, userfriendly so to speak etc. Not becouse magical energies interfered with working of machines. That was not so plausable for me. What was difference betwean magical lightning and usuall lightning, or fire or or, etc etc. Magical aura disturbs devices...nah, I never bought that..also I wanted to make technomage...i kinda hoped I would be able to make devices that would amplify my characters use of magic or something. Beyond that kind of magicvstech, I pretty much liked the world setting and its lore. Btw, I started once as a dwarf so i could see female dwarf but still i was killed if i remeber correctly. Whats up with female dwarfs?
  7. I think it looks beautifull, especially that statis game...i will defenetly be checking that out!
  8. Bosnia, but for past 15 years I live in Norway. Any others from former YU?
  9. Those games had some of the best background visuals in their time. Knowing this, it should elevate stress of some people who were fearing cartoony approach.
  10. Exactly. I just expressed what is my logical assumption. Mage best knows how mage works. So far nothing prevents mage to use guns. I would like idea of playing a techo-mage. Mage that uses complex-tech to amplify his/her power.
  11. Depends on the power of the mage in this setting, an assasin specialised in taking out mages makes sense. But best mage-killer would simply be another mage. Exept if we have nation that frowns upon unregulated use of magics and they have like secret police..like Templars in DAO.
  12. I am not sure what to think about magic and souls and how it is tied together. Something like "CHI"? Evryone has potential, no matter the soul, but it is about training? Or you choose soul archtype that defines how or what your magic skill might evolve as or how you develope your character? I have sneaky feeling that idea behind the souls is what keeps our reality or universe together, sort of like the great wheel and the souls are the fuel, immortal like recycling. Or maybe they just fuel the "gods" own existance, they feed upon the souls energies that mortal has acquired through his/her life time, based on mortals own struggels. This concept has been explored before, they even based movies Clash of Titans on such idea. If someone remebers Black and White series where you play a deity and as such, one's power is determened by prayers of your followers. More followers, more power. I think that souls might work in similiar fashion in this universe. This is all stinks about some sort of freedom idea, ultimate freedom from powers to be. Something like ; We dont need them, they need us, mention of a battery comes to my mind and etc. Fantasy matrix. Hmmm, I could go on speculating, its quite fun...but more info is needed. I am entering territory where i just might love lore of the game or totally hate it. Anyway I intend to explore it.
  13. more variety in terms of charcreation is always good, even if it is subtle.
  14. Had to go with BG2 option. Having a housing that can be class oriented, would be epic! Planar Sphere in BG and Your OWN CASTLE and serfs or Thiefs guild...just great. A rogue class could have its own spy network. I think housing should be a bit more than just place where you can put your loot. A lair if you go dark side. Might be in sea of cliche, but hey, It should be optional. At least in future expansion pack they could add it.
  15. It would be great if we could choose what sort of "house" we get. Yes a plain simple house where you put your stash and have companions wait for you is fine but having a lair would be awsome. Yes, a lair or housing like a wizards tower, with that plainhouse just beneath. Or if you are warrior stronghold, if priest a shrine that ca be upgraded to tempel etc. Idea is not new to devs, probably we want have it if it doesnt fit story. So I hope game will be highly moddable.
  16. Mix of vancian, memorisation and mana/stamina point based? + rewards based on spell school that you use most. Wasnt there like 5 threads about magic system already?
  17. I think that you are unable to differentiate a fantasy world from our own history. Advancment of science in our world WAS considered evil, like during entire middle ages. There is reason this period of our history is considered the DARK AGES. The most obvious exampel would be Catholic Church, Vatican condeming every discovery that THEY FELT challenged the scriputers and most importantly their authority. They tried to ban crossbow as it was cowards weapon and every peasnt with little to no training could with one shot kill highly trained knight. Gunpowder whn first discovered was considered devilry and magic. For all we know, gunpowder in THIS setting is considered magic, maybe it is not even called gunpowder, maybe they use fairy dust? First opposition to mention of guns is that people went to our own medieval history and how guns changed the rules of war and knowing that, how having guns would 'suck'. Like why wouldnt evryone start using guns as they made other weapons more or less obsolite. This is not our world as you said. We still dont know how much gun in this high fantasy setting matters, how is it realistic or stupid and why wouldnt evryone just use it next to metheor showers, fireballs etc. In high fantasy setting, where magic is pretty common and quite deadly and havent made evrything else obsolite, why should guns?
  18. Can I upgrade/change from my existing pledge 65$ to 140$ ? Or it is permanent and I have to make new pledge so to speak?
  19. OP makes good point. Armor and weapons with a style. Thank you. No animish giant wapons and armors.
  20. It does need to be balanced. But I am with OP on this one, your profficency/character sheet should matter more. A lvl 1 fighter with + 10 katana should loose against lvl 10 fighter with +1 katana. I am for having nice and deadly and magical weapons in game, but these should be bonus for your character, reward or quest related.
  21. Let there be resitances that mitigate damage, rather than immunities. If there are immunities, let them make sense...no abstract sense. Smart immunities like Stone Golem is immune or heavily resistant to arrows, daggers, swords, makes sense. But Golem is supposed to be always epic encounter.
  22. Btw firearms were introduced in medieval ages. If implemented right, why not. It would fall into category of piercing weapons. We have magic and explosions and no mage thought to harness that power in one form or another to make projectile weapons. ( wands to not count ) C'mon.
  23. Where is armor? Shoulder pad and wrist gueard?
  24. Combination betwean memorisation and skill, mana/stamina would be ideal for me. Having your spellbook, you still have access to all spells, you just cast them at slower rate and maybe higher exhaustion. One can not predict and be 100% prepared for every encounter and situation, but there is fun in unpredictable. There is another way than, something that OP suggest, like exaustion, but I dont know if anyone has tried application called Alchemy? You start with 4 basic elements and build upon results of those. If foundation of reality can be summed down to those as ancient greek and some older civilisations thought. One could have Magic system based on that. It should be pretty straight forward and result of spells you create is based on your attributes and skills. Magic would work like One Power in Wheel of Time series. Since we can pause and cast, this system would be great for this kind of game.
