Paladins and Bards
Pidesco replied to AlphaShard's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
Fie! A pox on you and your scions, you addlepated ninnyhammer! Beware! I'm listening to music right now, and my mp3 player is giving me +1 to annoyance at silliness and -2 to my ability to listen 30 years from now. -
Paladins and Bards
Pidesco replied to AlphaShard's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
My two most hated classes in D&D, so I can't say I care. The bard in particular is ridiculous. -

It seems like this thread has run its course. Locked -
Seriously, that sounds disgusting. Translation of the recipe: Mix fat, with fat, fat and fat. Fry the fat in fat. + Season with lots of stuff. Put on bread and add fat Eat. Proceed to die of fat overdose.

Strawberry icecream with raw garlic mixed in?

That sounds tasty. Also, garlic seems like a good addition to that.

RE4 is rubbish. Terrible gameplay, stupidly repetitive and way too easy. Also, RE plot.

Overreaction theater!

With the announcement of crafting, last day's pledges doubled the amount of the previous day. So maybe people who post in forums are a weird, very minor cross section of the population interested in the project. Maybe. -
HAPPY BIRTHDAY CHRIS!11!

He used to post many, many moons ago. During KOTOR2's development, I think, and perhaps NWN2's, as well.- 11 replies

Polite Forum Request
Pidesco replied to Monte Carlo's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
We are on it, and waiting for the change from admin. -
Thread locked. We feel that, at this point, all that can be discussed about romance in Project Eternity, has been discussed. Right now, the thread as devolved into mostly trolling and flame baiting with a lot retreading of previous discussion points. As such, we have decided to put a moratorium on new Romance threads, until some time has passed. We hope that this decision helps respect among posters and fosters discussion other subjects. So, from now on all new romance threads will be locked an referred to the previous threads on the subject.

In all CRPGs of the last 10 years flexible has meant watered down in some way.

The real problem with the position of "I want to play the game, but with story only, no combat," is that it's the same as a guy buying a comic book and complaining that the comic book doesn't allow him to enjoy the story without the drawings.

I like both gameplay and story, but the POV of people who don't like the former is pretty obvious to me. Books are linear storylines, while cRPG games offer branching storylines, thus being completely different in terms of "enjoying a story". How is that so difficult to understand?

Bioware's idea of attaching basic game usability to the characters' skill tree was very, very dumb.

My perception: There's a hefty market in Europe for RPGs, especially Obsidian's, and especially compared to the US. However, a significant percentage of RPG fans are already proficient in English and, importantly, would rather play the game in English. This is due to two factors: given the choice, original is better, and translations are often terrible. I'd say that translating an RPG is a worthy goal but, in the case of a Kickstarter, it should be one of the last stretch goals. Unless Obsidian hires me to do the translation to Portuguese. In that case translating the game should be the very first goal. Portuguese is one of the most spoken languages in the world, and has more speakers, than German or French, for instance, which already have been chosen for translation. Also, can I interest you in these fine leather jackets?

Translations
Pidesco replied to jerf's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Portuguese, so Obsidian can hire me to do the translation. -
