Rhythm game. So The Witcher 1?

So you've become a collective? It's certainly not what I wanted. It'll probably be okay, but I dislike anything first person that isn't like the old Wizardry games.

Throw in a Circle of Protection Against Those Damn Teenagers, and I'm in!

Not really sure how to feel about this until I see what Obsidian is putting out 2-3 years down the line. Pretty certain I won't be buying a console, and have never used the Windows Store, so I don't really have an opinion on that. Hopefully it doesn't destroy the company, the forums, or what I liked about their games.

I finished all the Legacy Ops. While Shen's was the best (<3 Lily), the end of the final one was great. All of them are good though. I really like the way they did the storytelling/narration in them. Also, I'm pretty sure the Legacy Ops aren't really canon. They're just Bradford telling stories to recruits/random people post-war.

Pathfinder Kingmaker is bigger then Deadfire

le sigh. harrim, with a 10 charisma, were able to level-up and gain new spells pre 1.06. so apply your reasoning to pre 1.06 harrim and to what conclusion does you arrive? wisdom were indicated in level-up as the prime attribute o' a fey speaker, and a 10 charisma feyspeaker harrim aquired druid spells o' level two and three and beyond. am not saying charisma were useless to a feyspeaker pre-patch, but at the very least, pre-patch, wisdom were also effective for a feyspeaker... and as the actual in-game level-up indicated wisdom as the prime attribute... a viable build concept, a build concept supported by in-game description, were rendered largely impotent by a patch. kiss +12 hours o' gaming goodbye. HA! Good Fun! Ah, well I didn't realize that was the case. I tried to make a wisdom-based Feyspeaker and the game told me I couldn't cast any spells, so I didn't realize that Harrim could, despite his charisma. Perhaps it was a multi-classing bug? Regardless, while the stat recommendation thing said wisdom, the descriptor for the ability to pick extra spells always said Charisma (which is how I realized they needed to be charisma-based.) Regardless, I've kind of put the game on hold while they balance/bug-fix. Was really annoyed my two-weapon fighting grenadier lost the bonuses from the feat as soon as I rested or leveled up anyone else. -
FTFY. Honestly, the only part of the Forgotten Realms that I find remotely interesting are the Moonshaes. And I mean the original Moonshaes from the original Forgotten Realms novels (Darkwalker on Moonshae, Black Wizards and Darkwell.) I also really dislike 5E D&D (though it's not as bad as 2E or 1E.) Still, if such a game is made, I'll probably end up buying it (though unless it's turn-based, probably not until it's $5 or less,)

But Feyspeaker spells were always based on Charisma. Otherwise my 18 Cha 10 Wis Feyspeaker wouldn't have been able to cast spells above level 0. It was just level 0 spells that were calculating DC incorrectly, supposedly. I don't really know about that, because I never cast any 0-level spells other than light, but max spell level and bonus spells were definitely always charima-based for Feyspeakers. -
I wouldn't have been sure what "Glass him" meant. It's just never a phrase I've seen used before. That said, I remember reading (or possibly hearing) somewhere many moons ago that apparently people get "bored" if the written text matches the spoken dialogue, so that's apparently why they don't match up, even if they're just a short phrase.

I was a backer, and the beta stuff I've seen looks mostly good (the character creation/level up screen looks terrible, imo). I'm hoping there's going to be more prestige classes than they've got in the beta, because 3.5/Pathfinder doesn't really work well without at least some prestige classes (for example, a fighter/mage with no prestige classes is terrible at both.)

I picked up NBA 2K18 from the Steam sale (I haven't bought a sports game since NBA 2K04) and it's a pretty decent game. Yeah, I know the whole VC thing, but if you don't have to be the absolute best and have super skills right off the bat, there's absolutely no reason to buy any. I've put a total of 500 VC into non-skill related things (seriously, why don't you have a reasonable selection of hair and beard options during character creation?) and my OVR is up to 67, and I'm starting (though we lost the first game I started, but I'm playing with the Pistons and we were playing Houston.) Sure, I'm not tearing up the stats sheet (the game I started I had 11 points, 4 rebounds and 6 assists, shot 50% from the field and made all of my free throws) but those are pretty decent numbers for where my character is at, I think. I pretty much always have an A+ teammate score, and we'd won 10 straight games before we played Houston. Most importantly, though, I'm having fun. I haven't played a sports game in forever, and had been tempted to buy one of the NBA 2K's for a while, but I hadn't seen one at a decent price, and 2K18 was less than $10, so...seems worth it.

After looking at The Fate Testarossa and seeing that Avenging Storm apparently works with the procs from Lord Darryn's Voulge, it got me wondering about how it interacts with carnage. I'm guessing that, like most things (everything?) it won't proc off of carnage hits, but I don't really have an easy way to test it, so I wondered if someone else had. I'm debating between making a Tempest (Berserker/Lifegiver), a Warden (Devoted/Lifegiver), and an Ascetic(Nalpazca/Lifegiver), and I'm not entirely positive which I want to go with.

Have you played it much? I bought it during a sale a while ago, and the game crashes consistently after the second boss. I've tried everything I could find on the internet to fix it, but none of it worked. Anyway, the last game I bought (if we're not counting Deadfire) was ME:A, which isn't as terrible as it's made out to be, but suffers from serious open world syndrome. There's so much to do, but it's mostly pointless fetch or "go there and push a button" stuff. Not a problem unique to ME:A (the Witcher 3 suffers from it too, which is why I've never finished it) but still annoying (though not unexpected.)

RANDOM VIDEO GAME NEWS - VISUAL NOVELS ALLOWED
Vaeliorin replied to Blarghagh's topic in Computer and Console
That's awesome. I've been wanting an Exalted game for 20 years or so. I swear I recall there being one in production a long time ago, but it was an action game, not an RPG and it got cancelled early on. -
I honestly couldn't care less about it, but my mom is traveling and so she's making me record it for her (because she doesn't know how to work her DVR...) Honestly, I don't get why people care, at all. But then, I don't care about any sort of celebrity culture, and that's basically what the royals are at this point.

It will go away even without resting. I've yet to rest in Deadfire (playing on Veteran and only in Nekataka) but that buff has disappeared from my Watcher. Not sure exactly how long it lasts, though (I wasn't paying attention to it, since I'm playing a Harbinger and I don't have access to any healing yet.)

RANDOM VIDEO GAME NEWS - FREE WHITE HOUSE MONTAGE
Vaeliorin replied to Blarghagh's topic in Computer and Console
My sentiments exactly. I hate that terrible action MMO with a Forgotten Realms skin. Worst part is it was the only 4E game made. -
I'm not sure what all equipment is available in the beta to test this, but does the INT/CON from Duality stack with items? Cause that would push me back in the direction of monk/skald (though maybe not Shattered Pillar, cause they'd only get max +5 INT, correct?) since with +10 INT I could reasonably reach 30 int to be able to maintain 2 phrases all the time.
-
Cool, I'm not super familiar with all the abilities as of yet, so I didn't know how hard it would be to get the various inspirations. If it's that relatively easy to get those, it should make such a character much better to play (maybe I'll go paladin/druid...I just wanted a tank with the storm spells, honestly.)
-
True. I was just watching a video the other day where someone's druid was getting stun/interrupt locked by just 2 enemies, and if you're tanking 4 or 5, I was worried that even if you were getting mostly grazes you'd still be getting constantly interrupted trying to cast something with a 3+ second cast time (what with wearing heavy armor.)
-
I was thinking on a second or third playthrough of Deadfire that I'd like to play an Unbroken/Lifegiver. The idea being that I could be a tank who could drop AoE healing spells on myself and my other melee folks, as well as having Returning/Relentless Storm, Taste of the Hunt and various buffs/debuffs available. Having watched several videos, however, it occurred to me that such a character would likely never manage to cast a single spell (other than some of the extremely quick casting spells, which druid mostly lacks from what I've seen) due to constantly being interrupted (even with Concentration.) Is interruption not as great a concern as it appears to be, or am I correct in my surmise?

I'm not saying it's right or that people shouldn't fight against it. I just don't think that people should be treating Obsidian like they are some sort of monsters when, despite how it's apparently been painted, what they have supposedly done is basically standard practice in a lot of companies. Edit: To be entirely honest, I don't really care one way or the other about the whole thing, I'm just annoyed how this has painted a pall over things when I'm excited for Deadfire releasing in a week.

Like Valmy pointed out, we have to see the issue from Obsidian's perspective as well but still, that sounds extremly hostile to me. Why would they want to revoke his rights to work on any RPG and how is that even possible?! Non-compete clauses are something pretty commonly attempted by companies. If you'll recall the creator of Ark got into trouble over this a couple years ago. Apparently they're not enforcable a lot of places, but it's still a way a company tries to protect itself from getting staff poached by direct competitors. I doubt it was a genuine 'non compete clause' as implied, I'd suspect that if Chris asked out of his contract then the reply was "fine, but you cannot work on RPGs until its term runs out/ time x" which is far more reasonable since an early release is doing Chris a favour so quid pro quo should be expected. He essentially seems to be asking for such favourable treatment while still expecting to have benefits of employment- like medical insurance- maintained which would be rather on the nose. That's why I'm extraordinarily skeptical of Chris's claims being accurate, they're not internally consistent and read far more like an internal rationalisation. To be fair though, the whole thing is like a river flowing around a submerged boulder- you're judging what and where by the ripples rather than seeing it so it's speculation, and may be unfair speculation. But Chris is making it very easy to assume that he was the problem, especially since Obsidian hasn't been publicly contributing to the river at all. The issue of any ownership stake is a lot more murky, but there isn't even enough information to speculate on that, except what no legal action from Chris implies. I make no assumptions about anything one way or the other, and haven't read the interview or any of the Codex thread. I was just pointing out to Katphood that non-compete clauses aren't all that unusual, particularly in situations with talented individuals who are likely to join direct competitors. A lot of the stuff people are saying is "so terrible" seems to be pretty standard parts of the way the business world works. Yes, it sucks, but it's reality.
