  1. Grim Dawn's expansion comes out October 11.
  2. Yes. Anything over 100 heals. I'm guessing that character is either undead or has the zombie talent, which makes you heal from poison (and be hurt by normal healing, iirc.)
  3. I'm in no way saying that normalizing obesity should be a thing. Heck, I don't have any wish to have a fat player character. But there have been fat characters in games at least since Baldur's Gate, and they tend to always be either evil or comic relief. Honestly, I hadn't even noticed it until I was playing Baldur's Gate a year or two ago and started clicking on random citizens in the actual city of Baldur's Gate and every single citizen with the fat character model either talked about food or made some sort of joke (often related to food.) If they just got rid of fat characters in games, I wouldn't complain. It's just that if they're going to be there, it would be nice if they were offered roles as diverse as characters of any other body type. Honestly, if developers just relied less on stereotypes, I'd be happy.
  4. If you can point me to a fat character in general in a game who isn't comic relief or evil, I'll be surprised. Honestly, I don't care if there are fat people or not in games (creating a model/animations for fat people seems kind of pointless to me unless there's a really important reason for it), but if you're going to include them, maybe make some of them just regular people?
  5. Well, you don't need all three rubbings to access the spire. Those mostly serve as guides. I'm currently playing through the game again though going through the Rebel path so I don't have an answer. Technically, sure. But it still annoyed me. I ended up looking it up online because I couldn't for the life of me figure out what I was missing, and it turned out I wasn't missing anything, it just wasn't possible to get. It just felt wrong to "cheat" my way in, and it kind of killed my enthusiasm (that, and the fact that everything suddenly became all "go here, kill them" instead of actually being able to talk to and reason with people.)
  6. Right, so waiting for it to be on sale, which was my original thought. By the by, anyone know if they fixed it so you can legitimately get into the tower in Lethian's Crossing if you go to the Burning Library instead? When I played I only had access to two of the rubbings, which bothered me.
  7. Just out of curiosity for anyone who's played through Bastard's Wound so far, how much content does it add? I saw reviews that claimed to have completed it less than 8 hours after it was released, so it makes me somewhat concerned about the amount of content for the price.
  8. No, I don't really think they'll go Terror From The Deep either (especially since Jake Solomon stated in the past that he didn't really like TFTD) but I hope they do some sort of explaining of that underwater rift thing, especially since they added more stuff referencing it at the end of WotC. The rift thing just reminded me of Pacific Rim, and I thought people might freak a bit about the idea of XCOM: Kaiju Edition.
  9. So finished WotC. Definitely need XCOM 3. I know people don't really care about the story, but I want to know what that undersea rift thing is. Is it going to be XCOM: Pacific Rim? Training with AP definitely makes characters pretty overpowered. I killed every avatar the turn it appeared. The first one went down to Banish, the second one to my Ranger's chain shot, and the third one to my Ranger's Rapid Fire (which has a cooldown now, which it apparently didn't before? Or at least there's a mod to get rid of the cooldown claiming that it was added...I honestly can't recall.) Also, either there's some serious cheating going on or some of the stats are really messed up. The average AP for the world was 257k and average intel for the world was 157k, which are just way out of the range of possibility. Doesn't really matter either way, I suppose, but it kinda surprised me.
  10. Yeah, I'm missing out on some difficulty mods. Granted, I'm only playing on commander, but once I got high-ranked soldiers with plasma weapons, pretty much every mission is flawless. I did have one where two guys got injured, but they were trivial injuries (and one was because I missed that a car was burning.) One of my favorite mods (Scanning Sites Plus) I don't think will work well with the fatigue system, though, because it generates a mission for every scanning site, so I'd be doing like 8 missions a month, and there just wouldn't be time for soldiers to recover (or I'd have to have 5-6 squads, which would be fine late game but early game would be awful.
  11. 1 facility left, Avatar counter at 0, and final mission unlocked. Will have to wait for tomorrow to finish it, but I just spent 300 AP tricking out the squad I'm going to take on the final mission. Oh...and 28 Colonel Soldiers and 4 maxed out Psi Ops. And an Aspirant Spark (they seem okay now, but no bonding and no ability training makes them kind of suboptimal, imo.)
  12. So, I've kind of been drawing my War of the Chosen game out because...I guess I want to do more covert ops. Anyway, I finally in January of 2036 got my first mission that had turrets that wasn't an extraction. So I could finally research the defense matrix, that I will never, ever use (I don't even have a spot for it.) That said, all my weapons have +1 damage, my beam weapons have an additional +1 damage (so pretty much everything does +2 damage), and all my weapons can use 3 upgrades. All the Chosen are dead (and honestly, the Hunter and Warlock were cake since I had high level soldiers and plasma weapons for them.) All the Chosen weapons are pretty awesome, though I was hoping for some sort of awesome psi amp or templar gauntlet from the Warlock. It's pretty funny seeing a soldier with 140% to crit when not using a shotgun (and I can't recall if any of my shotguns have gotten that high, but I know it's quite often well over 100.) I'd have preferred that the hunter's weapon had an expanded magazine instead of the stock, too. Also, I have a continent bonus that makes all my weapon upgrades more effective, which basically means they're just improved one step (4 ammo instead of 3 for superior magazines, 20% hit instead of 15% for superior scopes, etc.) I killed all the Alien Rulers on the first encounter except the Berserker Queen, and she escaped with 1 health because the shot that hit her as she was going for the gate was a graze. As for the hero classes, the Reaper is far and away the winner as far as I'm concerned. The amount of damage they can put out in one turn with Banish + Claymore is insane (admittedly it's only 1/mission, but with the upgrades I've got they can put 7 rounds into an enemy.) Add that on top of the scouting and as far as I'm concerned nothing else really compares. Templar seems like a pretty awesome utility character (that +33% damage to an enemy for 3 attacks power is awesome) but their pistol is useless and I'm not big on charging into melee when it might reveal more enemies. Skirmisher seems pretty good, but I was a bit disappointed with their colonel level abilities. Battlelord seems like it could save you if you got yourself into a mess, but the other ones are kind of meh as far as I'm concerned. I had thought the reduced cooldown one was a passive, but it's a 1/mission active, which is just worthless to me. Anyway, it seems like there are lots of resistance orders that can seriously change how your game plays out. For example, I've seen one that gives double AP on missions, and another that makes your soldiers bond 25% faster. Depending on which ones you get randomly at the start or through early covert operations, it seems like it could really change how the game plays out. The only one that seems completely indispensable is the one that makes every successful attack against the Lost a kill (though I admittedly haven't seen any Lost in quite a while at this point...I've got enough firepower and good enough hit chances that I probably don't need it anymore, although a sharpshooter with the Shadowkeeper is awesome against the Lost as long as you're using that order.) My only real disappointment is that the Boltcaster and Axe seem to lose out. On the rare occasion that I take 2 rangers I use the axe, but the Katana is just better, what with ignoring armor and never missing. The Boltcaster does a bit more damage than a regular assault rifle, but I'd rather have an assault rifle that has +20% aim, 20% kill chance, and 4 guaranteed damage for my secondary assault rifle characters (the first assault rifle I use is the Warlock's) as opposed to a point or two more damage and a stun chance that almost never works for me. Oh, and I still haven't been able to recruit a second Skirmisher, which seems weird. Not sure if Sparks are any good now, either, as I've built one but never used it. They were so terrible in the base game I haven't bothered to use it, but I imagine I will at some point. The fact that they can't bond is pretty big points off, though. Still, I don't really have a must-have squad setup at this point, unlike in the base game. Grenadiers are still pretty good, but having 2 grenadiers isn't necessarily ideal any more. I think my final squad will probably be Reaper/Ranger/Specialist/Grenadier/Sharpshooter/Psi Op for the last mission. Overall, it's probably the best expansion pack (or DLC or whatever you want to call it) that I've encountered. There's so much content and none of it is bad. It's also given me the opportunity to drag the game out as long as I want, which didn't seem possible in the base game (I've got facilities that I haven't gotten around to attacking that will take the avatar counter back to zero.) Okay, I'll stop gushing now. Sorry.
  13. I'm relatively far into my XCOM2 - WotC playthrough, and I spent most of it without my frost bomb. I had a Templar who was carrying it get captured in like March or April, and I'm now in November and just finally got a mission to rescue him. He's a corporal on a team where I have to scroll down to encounter non-colonel soldiers. Doubtful he'll see much use now.
  14. You know, it's a small thing, but I really like the Propaganda Announcers after the missions. I did have a crash last night, but it was on a mission where I kind of screwed myself anyway (I keep forgetting that I don't have True Concealment, so engaging the enemies straight away isn't a bad thing, hence I ended up trying to fight 3 pods at the extraction zone on a VIP rescue.)
  15. They killed the guy with loot on one of my retaliations and it expired before I could get to it. I hate them! Nah, they're pretty cool, but that annoyed the heck out of me (mostly because my loot drops so far have been garbage...I haven't gotten a single scope.)
  16. It appears (through 2 campaign starts so far) to always be the assassin. My second one was immune to explosions, funnily enough, but is weak to close range attacks. Shotguns ahoy, I guess. I'm really, really out of practice with Vanilla XCOM. I'm used to having higher level troops at this point (because I almost always play with scanning sites plus, which means way more missions, so even though you only get half xp, you still level up pretty fast.) Also, I miss snapshot. A lot. My research has been all over the place because of various inspirations and whatnot, but all my non-cannon weapons have +1 damage, so that's nice. I feel like I probably built things in the wrong order, too. The training center really shouldn't have been a priority. I've got some cool secondary skills I can buy, though, such as chain shot for one of my specialists, and shredder for one of my rangers, but they're pretty expensive. The warlock seems really tough so far. I might actually start having to use mind shields, because he's immune to flashbangs and loves to spam mind control. Also, he has an annoying chain daze power, summons exploding zombies, and mine also has the ability to summon extra troops. I let him kidnap (I was hoping he'd only interrogate) my templar in the last mission I had against him because I needed him off the field. Speaking of the templar, I'm not super impressed so far. They look flashy, but their damage is pretty meh (though I can't upgrade their weapon yet) and they have to engage in melee to be at all worthwhile, and that's something I generally try to avoid (because it inevitably activates extra pods.) Mine's only a corporal, iirc, so maybe they get better at higher levels. All in all, really enjoying the expansion, though I'm wondering if I might need to drop down a difficulty until I get a handle on all the new stuff.
  17. Playing War of the Chosen as well. Was a bit annoyed to not get my key until 7 hours after release, though (at which point I was too tired to do anything other than start the download and go to sleep.) After playing a few hours this afternoon, I'm going to start a new campaign (I played with the tutorial on earlier to see if there were any changes, and it forces you to do things I didn't want to do, like start excavating in a bad spot.) Curious to see the differences in my first Chosen (my initial one was weak against explosions and took cover next to a car, so 2 grenades + exploding car = dead Chosen.) The lost are a blast to play against. I had a sniper take out 7 or 8 in one turn (he had an advanced expanded mag so I took out the higher health ones first, then finished off a couple more with his pistol.) I think it would be cool for them to keep a stat of most lost killed in one turn for soldiers, though I suspect rangers would dominate with Reaper.
  18. That would explain all the spam I've been getting lately... But yeah, I had to fight with it for a while to get it to work too.
  19. I'm not a big fan of Japanese voice-acting (the timbre of voices they tend to use for Japanese dubs as well as the inflections specific to the language are usually pretty jarring to me), but, I mean, it's gotta be better than that garbage. When I was in college I watched a lot of anime, always subtitled, and I never really encountered any voice acting that bothered me. Haven't played a lot of games with Japanese VO (I'm not sure I've played any, tbh) but even what I'm told is bad Japanese VO doesn't bother me anywhere near as much as bad English VO. I think not having a clue what they're actually saying (or how it should really sound) makes it less noticeable for me.
  20. Oh god, that voice acting is terrible. Hopefully there will be an option for Japanese voices with subtitles, because I generally can't tell when Japanese voice acting is terrible.
  21. I don't really care one way or the other about it if it's a pre-made character. I used to try and play about 50/50 male/female (for example, despite female being the better choice for characters in Wizardry 8, I usually do 3 male and 3 female characters), but lately I find myself playing more female characters simply because I have an easier time coming up with names I like for female characters (which, yes, is kind of a silly reason to pick a certain sex, but meh.) That said, I didn't vote because there isn't really an option for "I play both"
  22. I bought it during the Steam sale, but consistently crash either while fighting or just after killing the second boss. It seemed pretty decent up to that point, though.
  23. So I played the open beta of this and it was...okay. Not worth $25 as far as I'm concerned, but not completely terrible. It's more Harry Potter/fantasy Ark than anything else.
  24. Wow, that looks amazing! I'll buy it, even if it turns out to be bad. hmm...I'm slightly concerned about the combat. It sounds like it might be that weird turn-based where you all act simultaneously and you have to guess what the enemy is going to do, and I don't care for that at all. Other than that it looks pretty neat, thought.
  25. Yeah, the only things tempting me on Steam at the moment are the first Styx game and Lord of the Fallen. Everything else is either more than I want to pay for it, or has DLC that isn't on sale (or on sale enough.) Mostly I'm waiting on the XCOM 2 and Tyranny expansions.
