That would explain why she's been sick. Not enough private time to siphon life out of poor unwilling victims to keep herself energized. Seriously, the thing that bothers me the most about these e-mails is the terrible grammar and spelling. The people who run our country should have at least a high school level of education, and the e-mails read like they were written by a 6th grader.

Yeah, I got the email about the Wasteland 3 kickstarter (figstarter?) but the link just wants me to sign up for Fig, and that's not happening. Hopefully some helpful people post all the "confidential" information somewhere (not that I'm going to back it...doubtful if it was on Kickstarter, no way on Fig.)

I saw the preview episode they had on after Sharknado 4 (don't judge me! ) and I felt it was pretty awful, but it also isn't the kind of thing I normally enjoy. I hadn't been paying attention and expected a Victorian London type setting, not near-future post apocalypse.

Given how Enemy Within worked on consoles (iirc, you had to buy the whole game over) I kind of figured they'd release an expansion alongside the console release of XCOM 2, but it looks like that won't be the case, seeing as they haven't said anything about an expansion yet, and the console version comes out next month. The season pass stuff for XCOM2 is, admittedly, not terrific in terms of adding new content, but the 2 missions are pretty good, as far as I'm concerned (though Shen's Last Gift is ridiculously hard without at least mag weapons, and is still pretty hard at that point.) If I'd paid for it separately, I might be kind of mad, but I bought the Digital Deluxe or whatever it was with enough of a discount that it was actually less than just buying the game, so I can't complain too much.

I've been playing (heavily modded) XCOM 2 on Commander, and it's harder than I remember. Maybe it's just because this run all my 70%-80% shots are missing, I can't hit flanked enemies worth a darn (seriously, 3 people missing an Advent without cover...) and the enemy seems to be hitting (and critting) up a storm, even when I'm in full cover.. It's weird, because at the beginning of the campaign it was feeling pretty easy (I saved 11 civilians on my first Retaliation and I don't think I've ever saved that many before, even in Veteran), but I just had a Retaliation where there were so many pods, so spread out, that I actually couldn't save 6 civilians despite dashing around to get to new pods (admittedly, activating a pod on the last move of my first turn was a bad start...I was apparently one tile away from activating them with my first move, and figured I was safe to grab the cover one tile over, only to find a berserker, an Advent grenadier and an Advent surveillance drone.) I'd heard that the Long War Alien Pack really amped up the difficulty mid-to-late game, and though I've got mag weapons and predator armor, I wouldn't really consider where I am mid-game.

Honestly, I'm not particularly upset either way. When there is friendly fire, I tend to not memorize spells that cause friendly fire (I can count the number of times I've cast fireball in the IE games on one hand), though that's less of an issue when I can actually see where I'm casting, as opposed to having to guess. Sometimes, though, I just want to have fun with spells that just don't really work well with friendly fire turned on (hello, Walking Bomb from the DA series...) so I have, on rare occasions, turned off the friendly fire in games that allow it. All that said, I'm much happier with friendly fire in turn-based games as opposed to real time (granted, I prefer turn-based in general because I think it's ridiculous that you can screw up and position your party such that an AoE gets dropped on you by the enemy, but still manage to scramble everyone before the spell goes off and avoid all the damage in most real time games.)

Hey, I totally didn't notice that redstone torch when I set that TNT down.... Or, well, in the kind of (heavily modded) Minecraft I play "I didn't realize that nuclear reactor wasn't properly cooled!"

No Man's Sky looks to me like it could be really awesome if it was moddable (I'm envisioning a Space Engineers/X/Eve mash-up sort of thing) but I don't think it is (you need to be connected to their servers, don't you?)

Could also apply to the article about the North Korean weightlifter GD posted in the Olympics thread.

I imagine that's all the developers managed before they went out of business. The fact that Rage of Demons even got released was a surprise, as it was after the developer closed, and the publisher hadn't exactly been communicative about what was happening with the game/expansion. Hopefully someday soon the price will drop to $5 and I'll pick it up (yes, I know it's been $7-$8 recently, but I said I'd buy it when it was $5 and I'm sticking by that.)

Also terrible combat mechanics. It's like they joined the worst of old school MMO combat with the worst of action MMO combat. I honestly have no idea how people ever thought it was going to be a WoW killer (although I guess every big name western MMO gets called a WoW killer.)

Just out of curiosity, where does one acquire honey by the pound? I don't imagine you just buy 50 of the little squeezable bears ( ) from the grocery store.

I prefer Colin Hay's acoustic version, personally

You've got my vote, Hurlshot.

Shani for the first game Triss for all the sequels. Next game better have a new main character...preferably another white male. Shani for the first game, and never Triss. She sexually assaulted my Geralt in the first game after I decided to be faithful with Shani. Never forgive, never forget.

Yeah, when they talked about rabbits being stealthy, my first thought was an army of attack rabbits. Those systems they've implemented seem pretty cool. Sadly, they're in a game I have no interest in playing (I don't like non-turn-based first-person games, but I especially dislike first-person melee combat.)- 503 replies

I've been playing fairly heavily modded XCom 2. Using the Long War Perk Pack, Laser Pack, SMGs, and Muton Centurion along with A Better Advent, Additional Mission Types, True Concealment, Increased Squad Size, The Axe Mod, and a couple UI things. It's really fun and challenging. A Better Advent adds some crazy (and scary) enemies. In particular I hate Advent Gunslingers (nothing like getting your whole squad shot at when they use FaceOff) and Advent Tech Commandos (who can blow up your grenades like the Psi Ability Fuse...they need to die first.) A Better Advent always changes the AI. I actually lost a "Protect the Device" mission because, despite having engaged them, an Andromedan and a Sectopod (not at the same time) attacked the device, doing a combined 21 damage to it and destroying it, which is something I'd never encountered before. Also, a Snapshot Sniper with Run and Gun from the AWC is pretty awesome.

I WOULD be such an expert, but I have no phone!!! WTF NINTENDO!? I DON'T OWN A FRIGGIN PHONE, I HAVE MORE IMPORTANT THINGS LIKE GAMING DEVICES!!! Crap, I'm finally gonna have to buy a phone so I can play this. I gotta catch 'em all, and be the best like no one ever was. Also here's a decent review from a surprisingly balanced reviewer that by all rights should be a Nintendo shill: I like that he called his Muk, "Your Waifu". No phone?! That's pretty hardcore. That's right. Screw phones. Why would I have a phone? Until now all phones where worthless to me, but now I need one, cuz' to catch them is my real test, to train them is my cause. Also this isn't the first time I've ever stated that I don't own a phone on this forum. Nobody noticed then, I guess. *shrug* I don't have a phone either. I'd happily go without a home phone as well, but it's sometimes necessary to be able to call people, and 911 access is probably a good idea.

The 2003-2004 Detroit Pistons gave up 84.3 points a game. I personally found that a lot more enjoyable to watch than what we see now. Mid/late 90's to the mid 2000's NBA were my personal dark ages for basketball. You had coaches dictating pace to a grinding halt. Only Don Nelson and Mike D'Antoni were advocating up tempo play. Only Rick Adelman's Sacramento teams utilized a motion, backdoor-cutting based (Princeton) offense. The Phil Jackson Triangle teams were deliberately slow and punctuated by heroball and Shaq postups. Guard play was de-emphasised and stifled. The abolishment of the handcheck rule after 2004 was the best thing that could have happened to the NBA game. Smalls such as Steve Nash and Chris Paul cold finally break free and properly weave through defenses that are now forced to move their feet as opposed to constantly hacking, holding, and clutching guys from the perimeter. The floor opened up, and now you can free up bigs who have the skills to play outside-in. Coaches started to loosen the reins and allowed players to freestyle and play more on the open floor. Increased spacing opens up wider passing lanes, allowing greater emphasis on team play. We started to see less isolations. The pace of play increased, players started to share the rock again, and team defenses became more sophisticated with the advent of Tom Thibideau's ICE and increasing use of defensive rotations. In short, the game became less one-on-one and more team oriented on both sides of the ball. Today's game overall hasn't been this aesthetically pleasing since the early 90's when Magic, Bird, and Jordan were hooping. Well, I've always been an admirer of big men more than guards, so that explains a lot of it. Heck, my favorite player growing up was James Edwards. So this version of the NBA that's basically done away with big men just doesn't appeal. Way too many 3 pointers, post play is basically non-existent, players just allowing layups instead of punishing guards for going inside...it's basically the antithesis of what I liked about the NBA. It feels like Bill Laimbeer would have no place in the modern NBA, and that's not a good thing, as far as I'm concerned.

The fact that this isn't a laughable idea is why I have no interest in the NBA any more. A team scoring > 90 points should be a rarity.

Same. Picked it up along with Dark Souls II at the end of the Steam sale. I wouldn't mind the hiking if the outside walking speed was the same as it is in towns, and if there were less freaking wolves. I feel like I'm too high level or something, though. I'm like level 14 or 15 and I'm getting prompts saying when I hit level 10 I can change vocations (which I already did when I was level 10...)

It's also pretty cool when some of the Uruks pull a protagonist and come back from the dead. There was one guy I had to kill like 5 times, and the last time he just came upon me randomly just as I was about to leave the first map. By that time he was just a giant mass of bandages, but it was pretty satisfying when I beheaded him and knew that he was finally dead for good.

So, Hillary has started running ads now, and she's Helen Lovejoy-ing for all she's worth. It's incredibly annoying.
