While KoTOR's combat was pretty uninspired (spam Master Flurry all day), it would be nice if the remake would at least stay in the same genre, which seems unlikely given the first person view. I know they said there was third person as well, but I can't imagine putting first person view in a real-time game with a dice-based combat system. Seems like it's gonna be another action game calling itself an RPG.

It used to be OP a patch or two ago. Now it's just pretty decent. Personally I'm low 60s in Grim Dawn (haven't played in a couple days) having finished every quest in normal and gotten honored with all factions, now about half way through Act 1 Elite. Gotten 5 legendaries so far, and one of them was a duplicate (a caster off-hand for an occultist, which is at least right class-wise, but I'm playing sword and board Witchblade.) Gotten some decent blues, very happy to see that weapons that used to have %physical converted to health (which was useless against bosses, since they're immune to %health reduction) changed to %physical converted to vitality (as I'm running Vitality/Chaos/Physical with some bleed/internal trauma that I'm not gearing for thrown in.) My devotions (Wendigo's Mark and Tip the Scales) provide healing while also doing decent damage, which is nice. Was getting a little burnt out on Grim Dawn, though (I've been spending a lot of time theorycrafting and trying to come up with different builds when not actually playing), so I loaded up Diablo 3 to do the current season stuff. Two days and I'm almost done with it all. Have to kill something on Torment IV, and I've never played above Torment II before, so that will be interesting, I guess. Might end up going back to Grim Dawn before I finish it, though (I like character building, and that's just not really a thing in D3, it's all about the gear.)

Gotta be honest, not a bourbon fan. Granted, I've only had one bottle (Knob Creek some years ago) but I just found it a bit too high proof for my tastes. Personally, I'm a Scotch fan. Of course, I also like straight vodka, so apparently I must be Russian...

I saw a dev post that said as long as they're blue you can get the rare drops, and I got one from Cronley when I was late 40's (don't remember exact level, but it was for the Outcast quest, so not long before I finished the game.) I still don't have a relic, only made one for a bounty. None of the ones I have recipes for (and can make) really do anything for me. I have a recipe for one I would like (I believe it's called Torment), but I don't have all the recipes for the relics needed to make it (I'm missing either Squall or Guile, can't remember which atm.) I haven't done Bastion of Chaos yet (well, I did up to the door), and only ran Steps of Torment once (for a quest or two), but it was after killing Log. I need to remember to hit up Hallowed Hill, too. I didn't get the one shot chest there on this character. Meant to do it today, but I forgot. There's probably other one shots I've missed as well. I need to farm some components too, particularly Kilrian's for the relic I want (I eventually want Solael's Malice, but that's a long ways off.) Would like to get all factions to honored so I can get more quests as well, before moving on to elite. So much to do.

Beat the final boss in Grim Dawn on Veteran. I was level 51, which apparently is pretty high level to do it, but it isn't as though I did a lot of farming. I did maybe 10 bounties, killed the Warden 2 extra times trying to get Tainted Brain Matter, and other than that just cleaned every map. Unfortunately, the legendary I got is terrible (for me) as it's a caster off-hand, and I'm not much of a caster fan. At least it's for one of the classes my character was (occultist/soldier) but not for a damage type I use (I'm doing physical/vitality/chaos, and the off-hand is acid/poison.) I do have 3 total legendaries, but only one good for my character (heavy chest armor.) I might have to make someone to use the legendary rifle I found, but I'd kind of wanted to do a dual pistol ranged character (not that I couldn't do both.) I've got a couple more things to do on veteran (there's a shrine I haven't gotten yet as it requires honored rep with the Rovers) but then it's on to Elite for me (though I may want to make another character...i'd like to make a dual-wield character, probably a Nightblade/Shaman.) The game is really good (I wouldn't have over 100 hours played if it wasn't...I rerolled at release which is part of why it's taken me so long to beat Veteran...I've also spent several days messing with other characters.) I really want the expansion already though, because I want to see the continuation of the story (I know, a hack and slash with a story worth paying attention to is shocking.) The game is very appropriately named, some of the notes you find, particularly in the last third of the game, are really dark and disturbing. A triumph for Crate and I hope to see a lot more from them in the future (and what people can do with the modding tools once they're released.)

Personally, I've never gambled. Granted, the only time I was in Vegas I was 6.

Add me to the list of those playing Grim Dawn. It's amazing how much better it is playing on all maxed settings graphically as opposed to minimum settings (new PC is operational, no longer playing on a toaster.) Not because it looks better (but it does) but because it's much easier to identify some of the enemies and avoid their attacks (mostly a matter of particle effects.) It seems like they upped the enemy density (at least on Veteran) in Build 31 as well. My Witchblade (only level 20 so far) is killing it with maxed Solael's Witchfire and Sigil of Consumption. Tons of damage that also heals me, and the more enemies the better. Going for a vitality damage build, with lots of damage converted to health. It kind of annoys me that I'm kind of stuck using an implement endgame (there's an epic dagger that does vitality damage, but it's worse than a green implement) but it definitely is doing well so far.

74°F is warmer than I like, but is tolerable. It's the high 80's and 90's that we get during the summer that I realy hate. I generally don't feel the need to alter from my preferred garb (jeans and short sleeves, as I don't wear shorts in public) until it gets below 40°F, and that's only if I'm going to be outside a while, and I generally don't wear my coat unless it's mid-20s or below and windy.
-
I definitely would, though I question Bioware's ability to make a decent tactical game. None of the combat systems they've designed themselves have been particularly well made or balanced.
-
Me too, though I think my problem is at least partially being unable to choose a character to play. The rest I kind of attribute to actually having to pay attention to the filler combat. 90% of IE fights were just Select All -> Attack (and of the last 10%, those mostly just needed haste outside a very few specific battles) but in PoE you actually have to do stuff and use abilities in every fight, and it just begins to wear.

Beyond Zork is best Zork. Someday I'll make it to the Implementors without mistyping or misspelling anything. I want to see what they say instead of insulting you about your mistake. -
Possibility of Vampire the Masquerade:Bloodlines sequel
Vaeliorin replied to jaspertrolling's topic in Obsidian General
I don't necessarily object to modern setting with vampires. I dislike the way Vampire tends to handle technology, though. Take something like the novels True Blood was based on, which aren't particularly good, but I feel handle the juxtaposition of real world and vampires better. The vampires in those books are, when the cards are on the table, savage, bestial creatures who are all about claws and fangs. A vampire with a flamethrower, grenades, or some sort of electrical gun (which I seem to recall from Bloodlines, though I may be getting it confused with Requiem) just feels like some guy, not like a vampire. -
Make it 60, and you've got a deal. Honestly, I can't remember the last time I zipped my coat (I think I might have a couple times when it was really windy in Jan/Feb in college), and 75% of the time I don't even bother with it because I won't drive with it on, and I'm usually only outside for a couple minutes at a time in winter. It's not like I live somewhere warm either (I live on the Ohio/Michigan border.) Personally, I'd like to move to the rocky part of the coastline in Maine or SE Canada. Lighthouse keeper would be something of a dream job for me, but it's highly unlikely to ever happen.

Possibility of Vampire the Masquerade:Bloodlines sequel

I have to admit, I don't care for modern Vampire. Vampires running around with machine guns just feels off to me. But if they make it not first person, I'll probably play it (first person doesn't make me motion sick, but I find it very disorienting, mostly because my ability to control my motions with a mouse is so much worse than my ability to control my actual self.) -
Honestly, the biggest reason I bought them was that I could never get the widescreen mod to work. I always ended up with a mostly black screen and a tiny BG im the upper left corner. That, and I got them on sale so I got all three for the normal price of one. That said, I think the UI is no better or worse than the originals, which admittedly isn't saying much.

Crime And Punishment was about the only one of the "classics" I was forced to read in school that I liked.

A president nominates a justice. The senate confirms. It is possible for a president to nominate a justice and then have that justice confirmed after the president leaves office.Ah. I just wasn't sure if the change in power would cause the nomination to be dropped. (Yes, I realize now that I said appoint when I should have said nominate. It was unintentional, and a result of not paying close attention when I was posting.)
-
Just out of curiosity, anyone know what happens if Obama appoints someone, but they aren't confirmed during his tenure? Do they continue through the confirmation process when a new president comes in, or are they tossed out and someone new appointed? Personally, not opposed to liberal justices, but I am opposed to activist judges, and the two seem to generally be one and the same, sadly.

I just beat the game. That last battle (not the last mission, just the last engagement) is just silly. I ended up just doing the objective and ignoring the enemies, as there was simply no way I could have beaten them. At least I didn't get anyone killed. Definitely an excellent game. Looking forward to patches/expansions/DLC/mods. Going to take a break from it for a bit (60.2 hours played already...) but I'll definitely be back.

Huh...out of 4 I've seen in two campaigns, only 1 ever got to attack, and it murdered a Mec I'd hacked. That's interesting to know about them attacking allies.

The entire point of Berserkers seems to be distracting you from other enemies. They're bullet sponges that you really don't want to actually get attacked by (getting meleed in general in XCOM 2 sucks), so you focus fire them down, giving other enemies a chance to actually live amd do something. On an odd note, apparently getting marked triggers Return Fire.

I've built one (of everything), but never used it. Mimic beacons are too good, though I suppose I could swap out one of my incendiary bombs. Mostly I forgot, though. Anyway, I had what may be the best ambush I ever have. I had 2 pods (7 enemies total) together on the roof of a two-story building. Opened from Ambush with a Blaster Bomb, does massive damage (obviously) and drops all the enemies 2 stories. Out of the initial 7, only a Heavy Mech survived the blast plus fall. It was pretty amazing. Also, I have no idea what the new DLC class is going to be, but I can't imagine what would be good enough to replace a second grenadier. I can't imagine not having Chain Shot and Volatile Mix both available in my squad. The +2 damage from Volatile Mix applies to the DoT damage from grenades (at least fire and acid...I haven't tried gas, as I found Gas Bombs a little underwhelming.) It's lovely dropping an Acid Bomb on a pack of chryssalids and knowing that even though they have 3 hp left they're already dead. Oh, and a word of warning. Apparently at least some Elite Lancers have Shadowstep, as I had one run in between two overwatches to attack someone (he missed, thankfully) without drawing a single shot. I think I'm within 2-3 missions of finishing the game. I'd have probably finished it already but I've been trying to get a second Blaster Bomb and Tracer Rounds from the Proving Grounds. I have permanent "Unassigned Engineers" and "Low Intel" warnings, but given I've got every single facility fully upgraded and staffed, I literally have nowhere to assign my extra Engineer, and I don't really consider over 1000 intel low. I'm pretty sure the Low Intel appeared as soon as I finished my last contact, so I'm assuming it's just something weird in the coding. Edit: Meant to mention, some corpses seem really rare. I'm nearing February 2036, and I've seen a total of 2 berserkers. 1 for autopsy, 1 to make the utility item they're required for.

Definitely past the point where difficulty drops off. I think the only thing that might give me grief now (by which I mean do more than minor damage to my troops) is 3+ sectopods or 2+ Gatekeepers, or some combination thereof. I did manage to 1-shot a Gatekeeper with a crit Deadeye shot from a sniper with a plasma lance and AP ammo, but I wouldn't want to rely on that. Did see one of the more hilarious things I've seen so far, though, when an Andromedan suit panicked and ran for it...left a nice straight trail of acid going off the edge of the screen. There are some really dirty combos you can pull off, like Salvo for a grenade to strip armor and destroy cover, followed by Chain Shot, or any source of Rupture plus a gunslinger (5 pistol shots in a round equals +15 damage from Rupture.) A Guardian Specialist using Aid Protocol with Threat Assessment on themselves prior to opening an ambush is pretty nice, too. Let's you overwatch while still having a move if you need it after your cover is blown. I rule all of the world except Europe now (there hasn't been a facility in Europe so I've had no reason to expand there...it's next on my to-do list.) Got a second comms and power set up, only have one spot left in my base, which I assume is for a lab as all I can build now is a lab, comms, and power. I guess it's possible there's a second plot-related structure, but it seems unlikely. I'm really not sure how I feel about how they did psionics. I've got a fully trained Psi Op who's never left the Avenger, and somehow that doesn't feel right. Maybe some sort of mod that limits the number of powers you can train based upon rank, gaining ranks the way normal soldiers do would make them feel a little less easy.

I've been on the last couple days of the countdown timer a couple times now, but it was intentional. Figured if I can't keep up with it, might as well save facilities until the last ticks of the timer. Granted, I'm in August and have yet to Skulljack anyone, so...I've kind of been slacking on moving forward.
