Journalism and Bias in the Gaming Industry
And that is a good thing. Well, it would be better if it was governed by character stats. I couldn't care less about fighting games. But in RPGs, I hate it when my ability to fast-click the mouse or smash at the keyboard becomes the most important thing. His waxing lyrical about positioning, blocking, special moves, dodging and all this crap is what ruins an RPG for me. AAA or not. [/OT] Also, how is the video relevant to the topic? If your ability to fast-click the mouse or smash the keyboard is the most important thing, it's not an RPG. That said, I personally find the Arkham combat system awful (admittedly, I've only played the first one, but I did beat it.) It's not challenging, you can basically win by just smashing the attack button. I'd rather have something like Dark Souls (without the semi-forced PvP if you're at all interested in co-op) in terms of challenge in an action game, personally. Or at least something that lets you make the cool looking combos yourself, like Kingdoms of Amalur (which would have been a great game if it wasn't so ridiculously easy.)

Journalism and Bias in the Gaming Industry
Freudian slip? Anyway, it wasn't saying something about SJ that got him made fun of. It was his gleeful statement that he didn't know anything about things that someone who claims to be a video game journalist should know about.

What are you playing now?
Just finished BG:EE (second time I've finished BG ever...yay!). Now to move on to BG2:EE and hopefully actually complete it (or even get any amount into it, which I've never done before...it just doesn't seem to catch me.)

RANDOM VIDEO GAME NEWS
I'm currently playing BGEE (I bought all 3 when they were on sale during Steam's summer sale) and I appreciate what they've done (though, admittedly, I could never get the widescreen mod to work, so I appreciate the resolution options more than some might.) I've only encountered a couple bugs (the endless combat music and the end of Rasaad's quest not firing the dialogue), so nothing terribly bad. I like the quick loot (though I wish it would stack things like picking them up normally) and have found the added content okay. It's occasionally funny, occasionally lame, which is pretty much in keeping with the rest of the writing in BG. My only complaint is that they added weight to throwing daggers, which makes being a dagger thrower kind of a pain. I consider myself cautiously optimistic about Adventure Y (the game they're making in between BG1 and BG2) but it's certainly not something I intend to get at release (or at full price.)

What you did today
Your muscle density is now approaching that of neutronium. Upgrade your furniture or you'll be awash in kindling. Obviously, the same thing is happening to Woldan as happened to Cleve. Soon, cars will be crushed when they run into him.

STEAM!
You know, I might have picked up BG1/2 and IWD if BG1 had been 66% off like the other ones.

Road to the White House 2016
66% Sanders for me. As usual, I don't much align with any political candidates.

E3 2015 AND YOU!
Have to admit, that did look interesting. It appears it's a PS4 exclusive, however, so...meh.

E3 2015 AND YOU!
Already 3 $10,000 backers. While I've heard of Shenmue, I've never played it (never owned a Sega or Microsoft console), and didn't realize it had such a fanbase. Already over $750,000 in an hour, so it'd be kind of stunning if it didn't break a million by midnight.

E3 2015 AND YOU!
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/ysnet/shenmue-3 Well I wasted money contributed on Dreamfall Chapters so it would be criminal not to help Suzuki-sama. Wow...it went up $470,000 in the time it took me to read through the pitch. That's pretty darn impressive.

SW: The Old Republic - Episode VII (J.J. Strikes Back)
The f2p works in the beginning, but later on you will be severely restricted by it. Compared to other games (like Rift as an example) it´s a horrifically bad one. Do they still sell hotbars? That was pretty much the breaking point for me on ever playing it again. It's nigh impossible to play some of the classes with less than 3 hotbars, and if I'm remembering correctly you only get 2 for free. The only other comparable thing I've encountered in a f2p game (Vanguard, in this case) was having to pay to use equipment above a certain quality (per piece). I could have lived with it if quest rewards and crafted items weren't restricted, but they were.

The Latest Reading Thread
I think Dumas was paid by the word for that one. He could have cut out quite a bit without hurting the story. That's one of the few books that's ever defeated me. I had to read it in high school, and while everyone else apparently read the 300 page abridged version, I picked up the 1000 page unabridged version. After 700 pages of nothing really happening, I just couldn't take anymore, and never finished it. I keep meaning to read Patrick Rothfuss's newest book (The Slow Regard of Silent Things), but I really haven't been in a reading mood lately. Not sure why, just can't read for more than 20 minutes or so without getting really restless.

Western spies forced to pullout : Snowden to blame
Darn that Snowden, stealing the spy condom fund. How are they supposed to spy properly if they have to worry about impregnating their targets?

STEAM!
It's weird how the first couple Steam sales I was all excited and bought a lot of stuff (some of which I've never even played) but since then, I hardly end up buying anything at all from the sales. Partly because things that I'd be interested in aren't on sale (or aren't on sale enough) and partly because even on sale, some of them are more than I'm willing to pay (mostly because they're things that I think I might like, but I'm not sure, and 2 hours isn't enough time to really get a feel for a substantial game, in my opinion.) I guess I developed a "nothing more than $10 unless it's something I really, really want" and those sorts of things I probably bought on launch (or Kickstarted.)

Journalism and bias in the gaming industry
So basically you are saying that you are fine allowing a forum like this to operate even if its only purpose is to cause animosity and hurt towards fat people ? Yes. And I'm one of the fat people. Doesn't bother me if a bunch of morons want to make a bunch of jokes that I'll never see.

RANDOM VIDEO GAME NEWS
Yeah, I saw that XCOM2 announcement, and I'm definitely excited. I really liked the first Firaxis XCOM, so I'm definitely up for this (though I'll admit to being annoyed they're going to have multi-player again.)

New Real Time With Pause Dungeons & Dragons RPG - SWORD COAST LEGENDS
A) Neverwinter has about as much to do with 4E as...well, I was going to say Baldur's Gate Dark Alliance has to do with 3.X, but BG:DA's rules implementation is several orders of magnitudes closer to 3.X than Neverwinter's is to 4E. Neverwinter is basically an action-MMO with a Forgotten Realms veneer. B) Sword Coast Legends is "using" 5E. From what we've seen so far, it looks like it's probably about as close to the actual rules of 5E as BG:DA is to 3.X. I really wish they'd release more about the actual gameplay. I'm kind of hoping they've been so quiet about it because they're ocmpletely revamping it do to all the complaints, but that doesn't seem very likely.

NFL 2015 Season
I figure that on appeal it'll get dropped to 2 games, but the draft picks are really beyond the pale, particularly given that there's no actual proof. Here I thought the NFL couldn't get any more ridiculous on the punishment front, but now I don't know that there's a bottom to this well.

Hero-U Kickstarter: Quest For Glory spiritual successor
Just out of curiosity, did you try the new demo? No, I haven't. And I don't think that there was any ill intent on the part of the Coles. I just think they've let their imaginations run away with them, and the project will never really be in a finished state, particularly since I really doubt the second kickstarter will succeed. So, while I still expect to get a game out of it, I don't think it will be one that's really complete, but rather one that they're forced to put out because they run out of funds.

Hero-U Kickstarter: Quest For Glory spiritual successor
I gotta be honest, this is the one Kickstarter that I funded that I've written off as a lot cause. At this point, I don't expect to see anything worth playing out of it. It's too bad, as I loved the Quest for Glory games (well, not 5, but that's a given) but I just don't see it working out.

If cats make you happy you probably have a parasite in your brains!(srs)
I don't hate cats (I prefer cats to dogs, mainly because dogs, in my experience, want fairly constant attention) but I've no real interest in owning any. So I guess I'm safe.

Sleep : How much you have ?
I'd prefer to get 8-9 hours a night, but I usually end up with 6-7. I don't nap, it's just not something that I've ever done. As I've gotten older, I find I need more and more sleep, though it's possibly just untreated sleep apnea. Granted, when I was younger, I could get by with 2-3 hours a night for a week or so, or none for 2-3 days. In college, I even read a 1200 page book and wrote a final paper on it in the 24 hours before it was due, and I got an A. If I tried that now, I'd fail miserably. The longest I've ever slept was about 17 hours, but that was after being up for several days straight.

Wizardry 8
Wiz 8 is probably one of my favorite class systems. Wizardry 6 & 7 however, have insanely abusable class systems that almost demand you save before leveling up, reloading if you don't get the stats you want. Constantly switching classes every few times you level up (which is basically mandatory in order to get the skill points you need) is just silly.
