  1. So Rey is Revan?
  2. Actually, Wizardry 8 doesn't have random rolls, and is much better for it, in my opinion. They also got rid of the massively exploitable multi-classing system from 6 and 7. No longer does it let you keep everything, but reset your experience required to the same as any first level character when you change classes. Now you still need the same xp as if you'd always been that class (not total, but if you'd say need 1000 xp to go from level 4->5 fighter, you'd need 1000 xp to go from Valkyrie 3/Fighter 1-> Valkyrie 3/Fighter 2.) It's still apparently pretty brutal for new players, but I played Wizardry 7 enough that I didn't find it too bad when I first started playing it.
  3. Yeah, I'd certainly be glad to have something like that in some games, but others where the combat is something I really enjoy, I'd skip it. That said, I'd only really want it if it was efficient. There's nothing I hate more when playing a strategy game with auto-resolve than when hitting auto-resolve ends up with you losing units (sometimes many units) and resources that you would have kept easily if you actually played the battle out. Often, even when I don't want to play the battles, because I know they're trivial, I end up playing them because the auto-resolve is so awful. So, you've got my vote, as long as the auto-resolve plays at least as well as I would (which, depending on the game, could be anywhere from terrible to great. )
  4. Wizardry 8, a game that's largely all about Keyrock's hated filler combat. Trying a 4-person party for the first time ever (never done less than a full 6 before.) Honestly, it's one of my top 5 (maybe top 3) favorite games of all time, but I kind of hate whenever I start playing it again. I get obsessed with different party combinations and ways to play, and spend hours thinking about it. Then I spend hours searching through old archived Geocities sites and trying to find anywhere the game is still being actively discussed to see if anyone has tried this or that and how it worked. I end up losing sleep over it. Occasionally I'll come across a 10 year old discussion that teaches me something I don't know about the game (like how the critical hit skill actually functions) and that will shake things up all over again. Still don't know if anyone else has ever gone Bishop 11 -> Hybrid (Lord/Ranger/Samurai/Monk) before.
  5. Personally, I love crafting. Always have, always will. I just like my characters being self-sufficient. Inventory management, on the other hand, I can do without. It's just tedium, and I can't recall ever having a hard decision in what to keep and what to throw away (usually what was thrown away was just something I was keeping because I'm a pack rat.) That, and it usually means I have to schlep back and forth a lot to sell things (yes, I need to sell everything! ) Personally, I love Wizardry 8's inventory system. Unlimited party space (with weight divided up among the party) and limited character inventories (which are all that's accessible in combat without losing a turn.) Basically, kind of like Pillars, except with weight and the ability to store stuff in chests (or just the floor in random houses, since items don't despawn...not that I've ever left tens of thousands of arrows, sling stones, and crossbow bolts on the floor of a house before...)
  6. You get stat points every level, iirc, so it would be kind of hard to hit all the wisdom/charisma (and maybe intelligence? It's been a long time) checks without leveling up. Not that it's necessary to make them, but there's some really interesting stuff. I'd almost be interested in playing it with all the enemies removed, just so I wouldn't feel compelled to make a character who can actually survive, and could thus ignore all the physical stats. Anyway, an unsurprising pick, honestly. I can't imagine anything else that could have been reasonably picked ahead of it.
  7. If only college wasn't over many, many years ago. Not that I wouldn't mind going back and studying something else, mind you, but I doubt that's the intent of such a program.
  8. I'll admit, as someone who's fiscally conservative but still supports equality and environmental protection, it's nearly impossible to find a candidate I agree with 100%. When there was that quiz to determine who you supported a couple months back, I ended up being closest to Sanders, but I hate his economic policies. It leaves me every election struggling to find who to vote for, and I usually end up only voting if there's someone I'm very opposed to running...but it still leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Well you will never find a candidate who suits you 100 % so might as well vote Clinton as then at least its a Democrat vote Considering that I swore the first time she ran that if Hillary was elected I was going to leave the country, that seems unlikely.

  10. Man, that would be interesting. Imagine Bernie and Trump both running independently with Hillary and whoever the Republicans pick. I've got to admit, I can't recall what exactly happens if no one gets a majority in the electoral college (it simply has never seemed like a real possibility in my lifetime, so if I ever knew it was just for a test in school) but it would be interesting. It would still be 4 bad choices, but it would be interesting.
  11. I've got to be honest, I'm kind of glad Firefly didn't continue. There was a gathering several years ago of a bunch of the actors and people who worked on the show, and the stuff they talked about that Whedon had planned for the future sounded pretty terrible, and incredibly dark. Of course, I also hate Serenity because I think it really departed from the show, both in tone and the kind of person Mal was. That, and the killing of characters...even if one of them was the actor's idea.
  12. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IXJ36-y5bjg The only Christmas song I like. Kind of gets what the true spirit of Christmas is to most people, I think.
  13. I actually kickstarted Planetary Annihilation, so I've got it and Titans. I was so angry at the devs shenanigans at launch (online only, no saving, etc.) that I've never actually played it, though. Might have to remedy that at some point.
  14. I don't know about bad writing, but it just might be the holy grail of bad voice acting. Is all the voice acting in Fallout 4 this emotionless? Shouldn't that kid be hyper excited to get out, imstead of just sounding kind of whiny? Wouldn't the PC be at least somewhat startled or incredulous when finding a kid who's been locked in a fridge for 200 years?
  15. While I can't say about Grey Goo, SC2 and CoH2 are both small-scale micro games. There's been a serious lack, for a long time, of large-scale RTS. I miss the days of Total Annihilation, when I could fight 7 AI's and there'd be 4000 units on the map. Those are the kinds of RTS i loved. I like the micro games well enough, even though I suck at them (my APM would be lucky to make it out of the teens) but I miss the massive battles, the playstyles that aren't viable in most micro games (I'm a turtle at heart, and Starcraft and it's ilk seem to demand an aggressively expansionist playstyle...you can't even build walls or decent defensive weaponry, for crying out loud!) and the lack of DOTA style missions in the campaigns (I seriously hate the "take these 6 units and go kill stuff making sure none of them die so you have a chance against the boss" type missions in Starcraft.)
  16. Well my good characteristics are I don't steal from the workplace. My bad would be that I drink too much and have an terrible temper. And I don't take rejection well. Just once I'd like to say that just to see the look on the interviewer's face. The one time I actually answered an interviewer's questions honestly, he kicked me out about halfway through the interview. I didn't really want the job anyway, so it wasn't a big deal. I honestly do not get the point of interviews when it's clear they don't want someone who will answer honestly or thoughtfully. The only way you'll get the job is if you bull**** out the "proper" answers, which everyone semi-competent will do, so why bother? I guess they're looking at body language, but given that body language isn't consistent through all people, particular in a situation where people are nervous, it just seems pointless. Seems the only point is to justify the jobs of HR people.
  17. Why does a 3D game need to be cinematic? I'd personally like a text-heavy 3D game, as I feel text does a much better job of communicating information and feel as opposed to cinematics. Don't get me wrong, I'm in no way saying POE2 should be anything other than isometric, but I'd really love a 3D RPG that was as text heavy as POE (or PS:T).
  18. I had zero problems with NWN2's camera and have never really understood the complaints. Personally I prefer a rotatable camera just because it prevents designers who think they're clever from hiding things behind walls or other objects (yes, this is a pet peeve of mine.) I don't dislike isometric, and I would happily buy more isometric RPG's, but given my druthers, I prefer 3D (granted I also see no need for a game to be more graphically advanced than NWN2, which I still think looks quite nice.)
  19. I'd like to able to say it's the worst division I've ever seen, but there were some pretty terrible years for the NFC West not too long ago. I still think they need a .500 or better rule to get into the playoffs, though. I'd rather have a third wild card team instead of a stinker who just happened to be the least awful in an awful division.
  20. Yep...seems like just a way to squeeze the FF7 fans more. If I ever buy it, it will be a complete collection at a discount (and on PC, seeing as I haven't owned a console since the PS2.)
  21. Possibly...I haven't really paid much attention to FF since 12. Honestly, I'd be a lot more excited for a Legend of Dragoon remake or, better yet, sequel (starring Meru, of course.)
  22. Are you sure? Looked to me like you still had Attack/Magic/Summon/Item in the lower left, they just made the animations all fancy. I'd be really sad if I couldn't spend hours grinding Master Tonberrys while half-asleep by running in circles and spamming the x button...though I'm not sure I'll even buy the remake, despite spending far too many hours playing FF VII when I was younger. The bigger complaint is that Barret is too skinny and they haven't made Yuffie the main character.
  23. Capra Demon was the reason, why I stopped to play DS (I played as pyromancer and was unable to stay alive in the room more than 5 seconds... after few hours, I just quit the game for good...I had very close to Demon's Souls platinum, and not a single boss on NG+++ were so annoying and depressing for me than this one :-/I actually never played DS1 that far (burned out on many hours of playing DS2), but I think I've heard you can beat him with throwing firebombs into the arena without actually being in the arena? You can kill him with dung pies or whatever they're called, throwing them up over the wall before ever going through the fog gate. Seems really cheesy to me, so I've never done it, but I know it's possible. Probably could do it with firebombs, but I've never seen that.
  24. That's because the areas are not designed to be believable - they're designed to be strange, unsettling, to tell you a story and, of course, to provide the best and most varied gameplay possible. Remember, not all games strive to be realistic and I believe level design of Dark Souls serve well to give you a feeling of something alien and bizarre, which I do believe was the primary goal all along.I realize it's designed for gameplay as opposed to realism, but it still bothers me. It's distracting when I'm going through the areas wondering who on earth was actually supposed to have used these areas for anything, as opposed to picking up on story hints, or just enjoying the combat. It's hard to care about a place that feels so fake. It's not inherently bad (I've been playing From games since the first King's Field, so I obviously enjoy their work), I'd just prefer that the areas were designed well from both a gameplay and a realism angle. I could do without the forced multi-player, too, but that's a separate issue entirely as I pretty much hate all forms of PvP.
  25. It did come out, but was apparently pretty bad. Boring, repetitive content and zero replay value, from what I've read, which is sad because I was interested in it. I almost backed it, but Schafer.
