  1. Regardless of intelligence level, it's become pretty clear that there's a lack of common decency (on both sides) in modern society.
  2. Hey, it'd probably be pretty funny. At least we could have a bit of hilarity before settling in for four years of a horrific president.
  3. I've more or less enjoyed Limitless, but that ending of the season finale was some first class bs. Unless it turns out to be a hallucination (which seems unlikely), it was just some deus ex machina garbage to allow there to be more seasons. I'm not sad about there being more seasons, but it seems like there had to be a better way of handling it. Also, I started watching The Magicians, and after 3 episodes it seems like there's basically one major character who's not a complete ****. I know that's kind of trendy nowadays (thanks, Game of Thrones ) but why would I keep watching a show (or reading a book) where I couldn't care less about the characters? They could kill off every major character, and I wouldn't be sad in the slightest.
  4. Unfortunately not. It's a commonly requested feature on the forums, though, so maybe someday. It would definitely be nice though, was annoying the first 2 relics I ever made were for quests (I never had a relic to actually use until I was 50+)
  5. Damn you. You just made me realize a woman 20 years my junior would be of legal age, and that makes me feel freaking old.
  6. That said, I'd love something like this. As Leferd points out there's lots going on. You could run it as a kind of 'bladepunk' setting, using themes from Cyberpunk but replacing the cybernetics with the new fencing styles and the faceless Megacorps with the faceless Church. As to the lack of magic leaving you with just auto-attack, that is patently untrue as there are many tabletop systems that don't use magic but are still indepth. Without having to develop a magic system they would actually have more time developing the normal combat system, developing for a Renaissance setting would be a great opportunity to develop a system that plays on the different styles of the fencing styles at the time. Special attacks, defensive maneuvers, acrobatics depending on how cinematic they want to get it, stealth kills, all sorts. The system would also be built with the knowledge that there is no 'fast healing' in the game as well. And of course, combat may not be the focus of such a game, not every RPG is a dungeon delve after all. I realize not every game needs to be a dungeon delve, but I am, at heart, a systems person. I tend to think in terms of crunch, not fluff (note that fluff is not intended as a derogatory term), and the non-dungeon delving parts of games usually don't tend to have a lot of crunch to them. I'm not even sure you could come up with crunch-heavy non-combat gameplay that people would like or accept. Anyway, in my experience, things that would make for interesting gameplay (such as the things you mention) are decried by the "realistic games" enthusiasts (those I would expect to be most interested in a truly historical RPG) as unrealistic, usually quite loudly. How much of an effect this would have on Josh and company isn't really knowable, but they've acquiesced to (unreasonable) fan complaints in the past. As for the game being built with the knowledge there's no fast healing, this has, in my experience, usually resulted in games where you either take almost no damage, or you die almost instantly. It's not as if a significant sword wound will heal within a matter of hours, or even days, and there's no way the plot can reasonably take weeks or months of (essentially random) recovery time into account. Anyway, this is just my own experience when trying to deal with games that tried to do a real world setting. Whether or not Obsidian can overcome these problems (or if they would even intend to do a truly realistic setting) is something we'll just have to wait and see. Of course, if they intended to make it an action game, instead of being stat driven, the whole thing goes out the window.
  7. For me, the biggest problem with a purely historical RPG is having gameplay that's interesting. Without any kind of "supernatural" abilities, you're basically left with nothing but attack. I guess you can add aimed shots, knockdowns, and the like, but there's not a ton of room for interesting abilities. Also, no fast healing, which becomes problematic. That said, I'd love something like this.
  8. Some who'd be willing to put up with me. Granted, I wouldn't want to inflict myself on such a woman.
  9. Hey...the Browns are going to win it all this year...or maybe next. It'll happen some time...right? Right?
  10. Yeah, as much as the first was good with the choices and such (and how beautiful the art and animations are), unless they've completely overhauled the combat it's a deal breaker for me. The way health and damage were tied together made melee characters worthless as anything other than punching bags.
  11. We don't get the option to vote for horrible, horrible death? It seems like the preferable option. It'd be easier to vote if we knew who the VPs were going to be. Then we could vote for the better VP and begin making plans for them to have a sudden rise in stature. Anyway, I'd probably vote for the Donald, if only because he has less chance of implementing any of his insane ramblings, whereas Hillary has the shady connections to implement her insane ramblings.
  12. I just got around to finishing Shadow of Mordor (which is good, but overstays it's welcome. It becomes a bit same oid, same old towards the latter part of the game.) The final battle was a freaking quicktime event. And not even a drawn out, challenging quicktime event, but like 6 button presses, to kill the guy you'd been after the entire game. How does any designer think that that's okay?
  13. I've got to admit, the Fire Emblem games look like something I'd enjoy, but I've no interest in buying a console (particularly a handheld...I had one and I barely used it...not sure I finished a single game.) I suppose I could find an emulator and such, but I'd rather have some legal way to play them.
  14. It was much, much harder to make good areas in the NWN2 toolset. Even someone like myself, with basically no artistic talent, could make decent areas in the NWN1 toolset with a little effort, but it was all but impossible for me to make anything I didn't hate using the NWN2 toolset.
  15. GMG had Shadow of Mordor for $9 the other day, and since it's been on my wishlist for a long time (but I didn't want to pay much for it, as I wasn't sure I'd like it) I decided to pick it up. It's incredibly fun. Not deep, but a lot of fun to faff about in. I had one Captain come back 5 times on me...it was pretty satisfying when I finally took him out permanently.
  16. I've been thinking of buying one myself, either a Ferrous Wolf, Sin Bad or an D'Capitan, I have a really hard time deciding though. They all so smexy! When I was in college I seriously considered buying a battleaxe, but the blacksmith didn't sell them with sheaths, and wanted me to email him my credit card number (this was back when the internet was just becoming a thing...my first year was the first year the dorms had anything other than dial-up). I don't imagine my RA would have appreciated it, either. She gave me enough of a hassle over having my bow in my room (I was taking an archery class, so I had a legitimate reason to have it.)
  17. The engine for NWN2 was terrible. Even on a machine built ~10 years after it was released, turning shadows all the way up caused my video card fans to turn into jet turbines.
  18. In this screenshot you have not lost a single hitpoint, you have not wasted a single mana (except the part that's reserved by your aura), you have already been in battle for a while (the little bright yellow part at the end of the xp bar indicates this) and you have not used any potions lately (they're not on cooldown). How is that possible? Default attack on LMB (no mana cost), and with enough lifesteal, your health can stay topped up against anything non-hero.
  19. Do I need to explain the "mansplaining" joke to you?
  20. Bruce, quit trying to SouthAfricansplain what conditions are like in the US to Americans. It's pretty disrespectful.
  21. Ooh, something like Lionheart, but well done, would be pretty cool. Alternate history is usually pretty fun.
  22. I've definitely had to watch myself near them as well. My Witch Hunter has lots of regen, so I can tank through most things. But what do I have more than regen? Poison. SO MUCH POISONThe worst part is when they're in the middle of a pack and you don't notice them. The aura that Possessed Archmages (I think that's the one...it's some sort of possessed mage) have doesn't stand out that much, and when you hit several at once, it's pretty painful. At least they don't reflect knockdown.
  23. Yeah, it's been a pretty bad offseason so far. Not really unexpected, but I wish we could have a decent season for the first time in 20+ years.
  24. Demolitionist (Fire Strike) and just about anything works. The other possibility, which requires using a 2-handed weapon (rifle or crossbow) is Shaman (Primal Strike) and something of your choice. You can also potentially go soldier, but Demo and Shaman are probably better. If you want a ranged caster, Occultist, Shaman, and Arcanist are probably your best choices as far as I know (though casters aren't something I like, so I'm not so knowledgeable about them.)
  25. Okay, I'm jealous. Those would be perfect for my character. They are actually awesome so I would guess they fit most non-caster builds. Aside from the obvious stats, the Sigil skill it has is great. My build is centered on full on assault, where everything I hit feeds me hitpoints. I have to balance my damage output with my armour so that I don't get hit harder than I can hit them back. This worked well for large groups of melee enemies (hard hitter on left mouse button, 270 degree arc on right mouse button), but I had problems when those groups had a lot of casters/ranged enemies. The sigil that this piece of equipment summons hits no matter the distance and it activates every third attack (which is all the time). It creates a round area around the attacking enemy that sucks hitpoints from them and transfers to me! Works wonders for those pesky ranged enemies. Also, any other enemy who wanders into the circle are also affected so it's kind of a tiny area of effect spell. Oh god, I'm beginning to sound like a Grim Dawn nerd. I don't know anything about builds, I promise! Cadence LMB, Blade Arc RMB I'm guessing? My character is a vitality damage focused Witchblade, so I spent the first ~35 levels using Sigil of Consumption as my main skill. Now I have Blade Arc with the transmuter as my main skill, which is great because it provides good damage as well as CC (love watching enemies ragdoll when I knock them down). I have the same issue with ranged enemies, which is why I'm working my way towards Autumn Boar in the devotions. And yes, I am a proud Grim Dawn nerd.
