  1. I"m playing "Watch Steam take forever to decrypt XCOM 2" I mean, it's less time than the download, but it's already been 20 minutes.
  2. I recall quitting the game at the beginning of chapter...3 I think. Regardless, it was at a point where I was supposed to run around town doing...something, and I just got bored. The terrible combat didn't help, nor did the investigation quest that told me that I'd ruled out people I hadn't even talked to yet, when I personally hadn't ruled them out. Oh, and Triss forcibly having sex with Geralt when I'd decided to go with Shani didn't really help either.
  3. I broke down and bought Grim Dawn (it was my birthday, that's my excuse) and it's pretty darn good. There are a few complaints I could make (like the return of barrel smashing, I liked that not being a thing in Titan Quest) but all told, really pleased. I died twice (one right after the other, I didn't realize the water in one area was poison, I assumed it was the boss + hero combo that was killing me so fast) but that was all in 7 hours (again, birthday) and 18 levels. Haven't been super lucky on drops (and iron is tight so the few good weapons I've seen for sale have been way out of my price range) but I'm getting by, although I started going through potions pretty quick the last bit I played. Looking forward to more.
  4. Huh...the previews I'd seen (admittedly a year or more ago) seemed to imply that if you tried to solo stuff, there'd just be too many enemies and not enough abilities on your side for you to deal with them. If that's not the case, I might have to look into picking it up when it's cheap (though it'd be nice to have some AI teammates.)
  5. I've been playing Titan Quest because my PC bit it and I'm waiting on parts, and the only PC I have access to is a bit naff. It's making me very tempted to buy Grim Dawn (which, admittedly, I was tempted by anyway) except I'm not sure that the masteries in Grim Dawn appeal to me.
  6. I have been remiss. There has been no Silverun Pickups in these threads, and that's pretty criminal. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TK9vq1D5FZA
  7. I actually got a B in one of my CS classes because I didn't attend the lab often enough (they marked me down a full letter grade.) It was stupid of me, but the lab was all the way across campus, way too early in the morning, and they didn't have anything there that I didn't have in my dorm room. So even labs are (apparently) an important part of a CS degree, at least according to the universities. That said, I'd love to be able to go back to school and just take random classes. I took way too many random classes when I was in college (though some of them, such as C#, proved to be pretty useful, Japanese not so much) but I don't think I'd want to pursue another degree because I'm sure I'd have to take a bunch of pointless garbage again (like those stupid HCI classes. All these studies on human computer interaction, and if anything, interfaces have gotten worse over the past half dozen years because they're trying to make them one size fits all across tablets and phones.)
  8. This is me. I've got a couple games I'm interested in (there are 14 on my Steam wishlist), but other than XCOM 2, there's not a one of them that I'm willing to buy at more than $10-15, simply because I've been burned so many times by games that looked interesting, but turned out to be just terrible (for me.) I think I've finally managed to get buying Bethesda games out of my system at least (I keep buying them when they're very on sale trying to figure out what people see in them, and I just find no enjoyment out of them. If they had non-terrible game mechanics they might be fun, but...that's unlikely to happen.) So, other than XCOM2 and the various kickstarters I've backed, the only thing I'm looking forward to (and I don't know when it will release) is Defender's Quest 2.
  9. You know, I used to like pepperoni, but nowadays it seems every place I try pizza from, the pepperoni is always floppy, and I hate that. I want it crisp (I'm the same way with bacon.) Anyway, I personally prefer a thick crust with lots of sauce (tomato-based only), lots of sausage, and just enough cheese to barely cover, but I'm from the midwest, so perhaps that explains it.
  10. That's what the more sausage is for. When I was in college the price of a pizza included up to 5 toppings and I always got quintuple sausage. Granted, the place had 2 kinds of sausage, so technically I'd get triple of one and double of the other. It was a lot of sausage, but man was it good. Edit: Hawaiian pizza is awful. Of course, I hate pineapple and ham, so....
  11. The only acceptable pizza toppings are sausage and more sausage.
  12. I remember the first videos of it, and it looked really interesting. Then I found out it was multi-player/online only.
  13. Man, I guess I was lucky. I had all 4 wisdom teeth out at once when I was a teenager, and was eating roast beef the next day (it was my sister's birthday, and no way was I going to miss it...my mom only cooked that maybe 3-4 times a year.) The worst pain I've ever felt was when my idiot doctor did the wrong surgery on my toe (of course he couldn't send me to a podiatrist, he'd not get paid as much then!) The injections in my toe to numb it hurt so bad that I pretty much instantly developed a fear of needles. Since he was an idiot, the surgery didn't even solve the problem (I got really bad ingrown toenails in my big toes, and the one the doctor operated on he just cut the entire nail off, leaving me with a toenail that grows all messed up, and a couple months of horrible pain should anything touch the nailbed.) When it came back, I went to a podiatrist (who happened to be my next door neighbor) and he just cut the sides of the nail off and did something to keep then from growing back. I ended up having to have it done to both big toes, and the one that just the podiatrist worked on looks absolutely normal.
  14. I've been tempted to join an RP persistent world (I spent a ton of time doing that with NWN1, even helped build and run one) but I don't know that I want to commit the time or deal with actual people.
  15. I was tempted, but I think I'm going to wait for a sale. Especially since I just broke down and pre-ordered XCOM2 (the 25% discount was too tempting, and it's something I know I want at launch.) I've been playing Neverwinter Nights 2 recently. As much as the story is kind of meh, and the gameplay isn't that great, I just love character building. I don't even really like 3.X D&D, but I can still spend hours trying to come up with builds.
  16. HA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA! This would be Dorthy who traveled with a living scarecrow, a man who consists of tin replacement parts for his original body after a witch's curse caused him to cut all of his body parts off and a talking lion; who got help from a good witch; who killed two evil witches and who eventually gets home by a pair of magic silver slippers. BUT the important thing to remember is Oscar Zoroaster Phadrig Isaac Norman Henkle Emmannuel Ambroise Diggs was an old fraud (from Omaha, to boot!) Honestly, it sounds like someone who only saw the movie and has never read all the Oz books.
  17. A turn-based Exalted game that somehow manages to actually include the bonus dice for cool descriptions bit A turn-based, well written 4E D&D game Wizardry 9 I'll second a (turn-based) Weird West RPG A turn-based RPG centered around sailing and exploring in a fantasy universe Turn-based WH40k RPG Orcs Must Die 3
  18. I quit after my initial month at release because I got fed up with the amount of generic MMO quests I was forced to do to level. Granted, I had a max level character within the first week and was leveling a bunch of alts. I tried to come back when it went F2P, but then I saw they were trying to sell basic UI elements (I can't recall if it was the 3rd or 4th hotbar) that I'd needed when I played previously, so that was pretty much an instant nope.
  19. I sometimes think about going back and finishing it (I got to the final boss accidentally my first playthrough and never finished because I was annoyed at missing all the optional stuff) but BS like time limits to get a character's ultimate weapon have kept me from doing so. At least I'd know to keep all the starter weapons around this time. Truth be told, I think the only Final Fantasy I'd be willing to re-buy is the updated version of Final Fantasy Tactics, just because I'd love to have Agrias' job class available to everyone.
  20. It's great until your buffs wear off because some villian decides to spend 2-3 minutes monologuing.
  21. If I had my druthers, I'd live 6 months at the North Pole and then 6 months at the South Pole. I'd stick with the dark months, as I hate the sun.
  22. Hire a professional DM (since I always get stuck with the job) and a team to help me write and develop a pen and paper RPG. Make a cRPG with the system that's everything I've always wanted in a game. Market it to the point that deep, turn-based RPGs are more popular than Call of Duty/FPS in general are now.
  23. I'll admit, every time I click on this thread I'm tempted by Might & Magic X, but I just have no desire to have anything to do with UPlay.
  24. If you think that's the goal of Obama's policies you've been gravely misinformed. The middle class has done nothing but shrink for a good number of years. If you'd listen to the people who live here instead of the talking heads on TV, you'd realize that it's not the common people that are doing well, it's the elite. Many people are underemployed, the minimum wage isn't enough for families to live on, and for the first time in generations people don't expect to be better off than their parents. I'm not saying any of the candidates will solve these problems, but sticking with the status quo certainly won't.
  25. Merry Christmas, everyone! The family will be here soon, so off for those last minute finishing touches.
