I admit I have a bit of trouble imagining how the class works. I set my Cypher to go medieval on someone, charging his focus. While probably another two melee characters are whailing away at the poor target. Wouldn't the target die too fast to get a proper level of Focus. How much Focus do you expect a Cypher can gather before target #1 dies? Enough for a weaker "spell" against target #2? If they beat down two, will he have enough for a stronger ability/aoe? If you fight alone, I imagine the damage reduction helps to gather high Focus should you need it. I like how fighter-type opponent can "actively" defend themselves from abilities/resistance lowering by being good at defending themselves. Refreshing change from Fighters Are Dum-Dum Their InsertMentalDefense Sucks Hurr Durr. Btw, I assume these small ability sneak peeks are just a fraction of a given class' repertoire. About how many abilities can we expect from a character? How many class specific feats?

I figured they meant it as the targe soul being used as a flintstone to generate a spark that becomes an electric shock. But that's just my interpretation.

That's a pretty cool trailer.

Of course, they're the main bad guys, but it's the Daud hit where all the revenge motifs get cranked up and discussed.

DD: I didn't mind that when I was playing the game, but you're right. And how well they handled the Daud encounter just makes it a bit sadder that the other targets didn't get this treatment. On the other hand, Daud was your foil, while the others were to Corvo, less important. Don't forget that, from Corvo's point of view (at least what the developers intended), Daud was the focal point of his hatred, since he killed the Empress. The Spymaster and others were treated more as the enemies of Dunwall/the resistance than Corvo himself. Could they have made the political targets more personal though? I think so.

Do the pretty little slooooow animations still rule over gameplay, or can you actually play the game this time?
-
You didn't. I did. We are allowed to do that you know, bring new things into a discussion Yes, and we are allowed to laugh at you when you miss the point of my post and derail it into a Steam comparison, then start handing out condencending winks. But hey, you're the Master of Communication, amirite? Did someone by any chance get out of the wrong side of bed this morning Past 4 days actually.

Danke schön! ^_^

There was some tiny fine print ont he back of the boxes that supposedly explained the big "Games for Windows Live" label on the front. The boxed copies were clearly labeled as being GFWL. What was not clearly written was what that actually means. It was, in tiny fine print and then, on later boxes, slightly larger tiny fine print noted that the service was not available in all countries. In that it was far more clearly labeled than Steamworks on boxed copies that required it. At least early on. I accidentally bough Dawn of War 2 back then without knowing it would force me to download Steam and have me on a two day waiting list for downloading and playing a game I owned a physical copy of I didn't mention Steam, did I? Though Steam at least got better with time. GFWL is still crap. Now it's just available in my country crap.

GFWL: Required for games, not available in my country. Is there a notification for this on the game's box? Of course not. So eff that system.

Update #64: Developer Q&A with Kaz
Oner replied to BAdler's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Announcements & News
No, not final at all. Most of our current portraits in-game are using cropped images from non-portrait pieces of art (e.g. our wallpaper image from the Kickstarter drive). Even if we use some of those images as a starting point, the portrait artist(s) will be creating images specifically for portrait use in-game. Thanks for the answer. I asked because the orlan detective guy ..well, he looks like he's sleepwalking behind the party with that portrait.- 151 replies

You missed a part in the chronology though. EA acquires BioWare and then all of a sudden DAO finally ships. Sure you can look at that and get upset because they also helped push forth the console versions (which is defintely a risk mitigation maneuver). Again, I don't understand what you are getting at here. You blame EA for DA2, yet forget that they made DA:O possible in the first place, I assume. I can kinda-sorta see where Allan is coming from. EA went for the shorter dev cycle, yes, but it was BW that wanted to squeeze in more stuff anyway - which led to less polish and more asset reuse.

I think they said in an earlier update that you can import your previous character? Hm, they didn't. Guess I confused it with some other game.
