  1. Yes because in Arcanum it worked so well and added depth. Did I miss something where Arcanum was the only game lacking a hard cap?
  2. Are you saying that Ziets will be a companion? Great to hear. I was slightly worried we wouldn't hit it. Last night had an amazing surge, though.
  3. I think everyone should have their XP based on the PC's. Either everyone just follows his level or they have set level adjustments and will always be X levels ahead or behind. I like to have my entire toolbox be useful. And I hate to grind. If a companion falls enough behind that his ability to land an attack against the enemies the rest of the party fights is half that of the party, then there's little reason to ever use this character again. And how would the custom Adventurer Hall companions be? Would they start out at level 1 when you're 20, making them useless? The worst I can be comfortable with is if there's a mechanism that allows them to catch up. Say you're level 20 and the companion is level 1. You fight a level 20 enemy and the companion gets bonus XP allowing him to start catching up. I still don't like it because it reintroduces the grind. Just less grind.
  4. Interviews have them state that there are no alignments. But there will be a reputation system tied to various factions.
  5. The same way you explain a wizard casting spells. Because he's a wizard and a warrior, not just a warrior. No, it requires whatever you require of a standard wizard. You're going to have that same problem with regular wizards. How does a wizard jump from level 1 spells to level 2 at all? That's the training issue, but it's not exclusive to multiclass. Just say he was training all along, but it is only strong enough now to manifest or be useful. Levels are discrete because that's the mechanical limitation, but the things they represent are granular and you must imply the smaller steps. Yes. He's a level 1 fighter. That's what, a mere +1 BAB? And a feat? He's not a heavyweight boxing champion from one level. He didn't gain any spellcasting ability from that level, either, unless he's a practiced spellcaster and that's kind of the implication of that feat. Clearly he was doing more training of his physical than his mental during that time period. More likely he made simply adjusted his training regimen.
  6. Maybe you're just playing with the wrong people. My Rogue/Rangers and Rogue/Warlocks were always about a character concept. I even built a Rogue/Warlock in 4E when the multiclass was a waste of a feat for her. I don't see where the idea comes from that it's so special to be multiclass. It allows for blending of concepts. Like my previously mentioned Rogue/Ranger I had. He was envisioned as an urban ranger, a man tracker. Does that require some special order be created? Or that he just fight underhanded while following people around and breaking into their homes?
  7. As I understand Dame Judy Dench mentioned that she would Dungeon Master for her children. That's why he bugged her to do it for him.
  8. Then you either have to grind to catch them up or they become completely useless and will never catch up. As they fall behind, they will only contribute less.
  9. They could be referring to subraces by the "races." Tiefling, Aasimar, and Genasi are considered different races in D&D, but were subraces of Planetouched in Neverwinter Nights 2.
  10. Tale

    STEAM!

The sale page seems to be displaying the lowest available price, the bundle.
  11. I'm going to be the odd man out here. The Mega Dungeon is supposed to be optional. Putting major content like that at the bottom? Me no like. Putting the city on top, like with Waterdeep and Undermountain? That I can get behind.
  12. Bad stuff does not happen around me, it happens after I leave. I am the bulwark against chaos and despair. Take your chances.
  13. 1) Paypal does go to the stretch goals at the end of the Kickstarter. 2) I don't know. 3) The city at 1.1 probably wasn't that big. The entire game is larger than it would have been at the base level of funding. That means more is going to be spent on the main city now than at that base level. And I suspect they want to match that new size. Second, stretch goals are not a budget. Just because it's a 0.5 million stretch doesn't mean they're budging that one feature in that entire stretch. The entire game gets larger along the way.
  14. It would have to be pretty significant clues. You're at a disadvantage if it's merely "impossible!" Impossible is the job. It helps if the math is transparent. Then they can see just how badly they are doing. And if there's enough leeway to make that evaluation before it's a party wipe.
  15. I personaly whouldn't mind a undead (lets say lich) as a primary oponent in eternity, i mean undead that thinks that he is doing something good but his wrong. Lets say a lich soul-eater that think when he take enough power, he will rebulid the world, ending pain, brother-fights, wars, hate and make a perfect world etc. but first he must kill everywon, put there souls in new bodies a make happy new world, better then even gods desinged it ... thats only a example... Play Arcanum.
  16. Have we not been there already? Planescape: Torment, countless vampire media including Buffy/Angel and Vampire: The Masquerade, and A Christmas Carol. D&D has a Lich-like undead that's primarily Lawful Good known as the Baelnorn. Sesame Street has one as a regular cast member.
  17. I think they're going creative for one of them. And given that they have't so much as named the other, probably both. I hope it's a Dromaeosaur.
  18. Indeed. Everytime I did a character that had any rogue in it, I always went rogue at level 1. The 4x bonus disproportionately benefited him. And almost any dexterity based character could benefit from a level of Warlock in Neverwinter Nights 2, due to Leap and Bounds. That's a really good point I'd forgotten all about.
  19. I think the point of the jumps is to represent just how significant it is. Having to have smaller steps before them would either push them back or subtract from the miscellaneous work done with each increase in budget. These are, to my mind, the two most significant features remaining and would not like to see them hindered. Definitely not just for a Necromancer class.
  20. I was kind of expecting to see some placeholder characters in there. But for pure environment work its fantastic. Now to see it in motion.
  21. Since the update has dropped, let's shift the discussion over to the official thread. http://forums.obsidian.net/topic/61324-update-20-lore-tidbits-campaign-almanac-big-ol-stretch-goals-and-environment-screenshot/
