  1. Pretty sure it doesn't any more; I think it used to give +3 to Electricity power levels, though. Not sure, though. That being said, Storm of Holy Fire (priest PL7 spell) does have the Storm keyword, so...
  2. I would like to know this as well. it's like a one shot burst of brilliant - just one class resource, for both classes if it's multiclass. If it's a caster, it's only one spell, and it's random. Considering it's attached to a once/rest ability, and that you're likely using this on a hard enemy likely near the end of the fight, it's not that great an effect. Well, that sucks. Looks like priests really got the short end of the stick in just about everything. You're talking to a guy who mains priests all the time, so you'll never get me to agree that they got the short end of the stick on many things Marux amanth specifically binds to paladins and rogues as well, and each class gets unique bonus; priest probably actually got the best (10% chance of echoing priest spells). The worthy sacrifice effect (class resource regen) is the same for all three, though. (I think paladins probably got the shaft for marux amanth) Well, since you main priests, which priest would you pair with a Troubadour? I'm thinking of trying a Celebrant with Robes of the Weyc bound to the chanter class (1.5 second chants, anyone, for fast invocations?) plus Salvation of Time to keep spamming invocations quickly for about half a minute. EDIT: 1.5 second chants + Brilliant = lots of invocation spamming. I tested this and it works. iirc, the robes only grant brilliant to nearby allies, not to the person wearing it, so you couldn't pair a priest and celebrant and equip them with the robe to take advantage of that itneraction. also, no joke the one priest multiclass i haven't satisfactorily and effectively/synergestically cracked, it's celebrant. so i have no idea. Yep, you're right; the Brilliant gets applied to everyone but the robe wearer. Still, 1.5 second chants + Brilliant on all party members nearby for upwards of 24 seconds (2 Salvation of Time casts)... that's pretty good. Pair it with another priest for another Salvation of Time (recovered by Brilliant) and get even longer invocation spamming... or a LOT of skeletons or refreshing shields from the chant.

  5. What happens if you revive an ally? Do you still keep the +MIG & RES? What if the revived ally falls again? Do you get another +MIG & RES?
  6. Since Blood Mage can cast this invisibility spell multiple times, what would be the best way to abuse it? Rogue Assassin multiclass constantly getting backstabs? Chanter multiclass constantly disappearing (and healing with ancient memory) while summons do the work? Something else entirely?
  7. Also, what about the Blood Mage's drop to defenses and Psion's loss of focus generation when hit? I would think that a different subclass of Wizard, even no subclass, would be a bit better because of that. EDIT: While the Wizard side would be constrained in the early game without Blood Mage's spell-gaining ability, late game you'd have more than enough spells to finish most encounters. EDIT2: Not to mention that a non-blood mage can empower a spell, such as Disintegrate, or can get back Wizard casts.
  8. Well, the -15 to defenses against blooded enemies probably would hurt the ability to keep even Enduring Dance up, I suppose.
  9. If you are focusing on Damage Over Time spells, then Sage is definitely better. If, however, you are more interested in direct damage spells (upfront damage), then Warlock can, under the right conditions (health < 50%, have Blooded, enough accuracy), do more damage. One of the big advantages of the Sage is Dance of Death + Enduring Dance upgrade, which adds accuracy in addition to wounds as long as it is up.
  10. Sorry for the double-post, but I just realized a really cool idea for a Bellower: Sasha's Singing Scimitar w/ Encore (get MAX phrases after empowering an invocation) + The Weyc's Wand... With that combo, you can use 2 powerful invocations, one right after another! The Weyc's Wand will not only boost the 2nd invocation's power level; it will also refresh recovery immediately! 2 Eld Nary's Curse, anyone? EDIT: In addition, I wonder if the first invocation's +Power level will be added to the +Power Level from the second invocation? If so, that would be really overpowered...
  11. Right on, I'll drop it to 10 and bump PER. I will consider this, but I don't see it on paper. Skald could be critting a fair amount with high accuracy and hit-to-crit conversion, his non-offensive invocations are just as expensive as the Troubadours and his offensive ones are way cheaper. In addition he does not lose linger for his phrases. On the other hand, the Troubadour does not need to make it his priority to crit as often as possible which does make things easier and more flexible. What do you consider to be "a fair amount", I wonder, and how have you determined this? I'm curious as to your calculations. If you are dead-set on Skald, you might consider the Streetfighter subclass of the rogue; cutting recovery in half is HUGE, and recovery limits how many attacks you can do. More attacks = more potential crits. Of course, Streetfighter doesn't really fit the Bard aesthetic. I suppose you could look at the guide on the build list called "The Cunning Duelist", as it might fit exactly what you're looking for. You might also look at the crossbow called the Scourge of Bezzello if you're willing to use a ranged weapon (won't generate phrases as Skald). Hope this helps.
  12. Don't forget about Blightheart's ability to add phrases if rolling a Bellower; it may not be the best damage option at times, but it could be a good way to finish enemies. EDIT: Might even make a Wildrhymer worthwhile, I suppose. EDIT2: Bellower w/ Blightheart + Beckoner = lots of phrases? Or just add "The Siren" (beckoner/beguiler) for summons & Brilliant inspiration to make the Bellower get crazy amounts of phrases? EDIT3: Can someone remind me whether Blightheart's Hymn of Decay (+1 Chanter phrase on kill) works with non-weapon kills? EDIT4: One could also take the skeleton chant and kill their own skellies when they are at low health, I suppose... add in the items that increase MIG when an "ally" falls, and you could have a powerful character...
  13. If you're playing on Path of the Damned (PotD), then I would recommend the Troubadour for the Chanter subclass, as crits will be rare. Generally speaking, you will be as fast as a Skald at delivering low-level offensive invocations EXCEPT for when the Skald gets a crit that happens to regenerate a phrase. In addition, you'll be faster at delivering non-offensive invocations like summons and the Healing invocation with the Burning upgrade.
  14. You could check out the guide for the Priest of Weal/Streetfighter Zealot build in the builds list. That one allows you to make your defense part of your offense and really take down foes.
  15. Just to be clear: Phantoms only get your gear, not your stats or any of your abilities (except the passive ones from yoir gear). So no Driving Flight for Phantoms. Living Illusions get everything afaik. Very cool. Sometimes they even summon Phantoms... But they are also dead very quickly. Best thing is that Living Illusions copies you AND your animal companion! You can also summon Kalakoth's Minor Blights and then Phantom/Living Illusions. The phantom will be stuck with the burn version. But that works with Ring of Focused Flame... Having an AoE burn blast attack with +22 ACC (if one handed) on a phantom (or even more on 6 Living Illusions) is kind of cool as well. Especially if you prepared with Combusting Wounds before. Also here Driving Flight is great as well. Will Barring Death's Door (BDD) stop the illusions from dying?
  16. When it comes to Blood Mage multiclasses, does anyone know yet exactly what affects Blood Sacrifice self-damage? For instance, if I wear equipment that does not buff MIG, but does a general damage buff, would that increase Blood Sacrifice self-damage?
  17. my one thought with that is that it's a little suboptimal, because the recovery bonus doesn't help spellcasting as much (because relatively speaking you spend so much time just casting instead of recovering). streetfighter works real well for martial-oriented builds or combined with explosives and scrolls, because a -50% recovery time when your action is mostly recovery is really great. a great streetfighter/caster i suspect will be casting spells that are "cheap" to use (e.g. enchantment school spells that feature 0 recovery and very fast cast, or spells with short cast times and longer recovery) because the opportunity cost of not just deathblows + sneak attacking all the time becomes really huge with a streetfighter. Those are fair points.
  18. If you're willing to consider rearranging your stats somewhat, might I suggest pairing the streetfighter with a Blood Mage? If not, feel free to ignore this post. With base might (or 8 might), high constitution, and a good healer companion, you can rapid-fire spells and bullets to great effect. In fact, Blood Sacrifice is a handy way of lowering your HP below 50%, especially if you're in the back of a party and not getting targeted generally. That being said, you might want to consider upping intelligence somewhat for such a build, especially if you plan to use a lot of timed debuffs.
