  1. Hrmm... since it seems that the souls get the same version of the armor that the user is wearing (upgrades and all), wouldn't it be more interesting to equip Effigy's Husk, Least Unstable Coil, and Cape of the Falling Star/Mantle of the Seven Bolts on a monk or monk multiclass (maybe The Fate Testarossa build?) and spam dichotomous souls as suicide bombers for all the "on knockout/unconscious" damage? Combined with Brilliant from a cipher or potentially from empowering an ability, as well as Dance of Death, this might be an interesting combo... EDIT: I suppose this depends on all of these “on-death” effects working together. I can try and test this.
  2. So Dichotomous Souls get accessories of the user? Interesting. Do they also get the armor of the user? I presume they don’t get the weapons of the user.
  3. That’s disappointing. I wonder if someone could mod it so that ANY illusion spell could occur, or at least any hostile illusion spell.
  4. For the Eye of Wael’s Illusive Spell enchantment, does anyone know if ANY illusion spell can happen, if it is only base spells that can be picked on level up for a wizard, or if it is an even smaller list? For example, could the Eye of Wael proc Concelhaut’s Crushing Doom? What about Freezing Rake on a multiclass wizard that normally can’t access tier 8 spells?
  5. While I appreciate your concern, I am aware of that already, and I have some ideas on how to deal with the accuracy issue. Still, that response does not answer my main question. Does anyone know the answer to my main question?
  6. Are there any enemy abilities that neither Writ or War nor Writ of Sorcery will disable? If so, what are they, and what enemies possess them? I am especially concerned about megaboss abilities.
  7. Let me see if I can clarify things. Does Lion’s Sprint’s accuracy bonus go away after an offensive chant (e.g. come, come soft winds of death) makes an attack roll on an enemy?
  8. Trying to remember… is Lion’s sprint not useful for a howler due to the accuracy bonus getting used on a chant and then going away if one is using an offensive chant?
  9. Goldpact Knight paladins do dislike aggressive actions; that being said, while Magran does favor aggressive actions, you could instead choose to maximize your Clever disposition, along with stoic and rational, and avoid aggressive actions. Priests don't suffer quite as much from not maxing both of their dispositions as paladins do, I think.
  10. For a tank who can deal damage, what about an Unbroken Fighter/Priest of Magran? You get plenty of healing to tank damage, and you can dish out plenty of retaliation effects to anyone who hits you, such as: (Greater) Fire Shield from Magran's Blessing Shield Flame Shield spell from Magranite Priest Avenging Storm from scroll or that one helm To top it all off, you can make your heals and retaliation effects last pretty much entire fights with Brilliant + Salvation of Time.
  11. Let me know how the barb does for you once you feel you've tried him out enough.
  12. Welcome! Two more things: priests get a nice selection of fire spells, especially Cleansing Flame, Storm of Holy Fire, And Shining Beacon (among others), so you could go with another priest subclass if you wanted, I suppose. Wael would be good to add to the sturdiness of the Shaman with its deflection buffs, but it would mean less critical hits, and thus less of a focus on retaliation damage (Magran gets flame shield, which also adds to retaliation). Berath would add a nice corrode damage spell to your repertoire, in case you want to vary elements more. Finally, there is a belt (forgot the name, think it’s in Neketaka) that makes it so you can use athletics twice per encounter and reduces weapon damage against you as you lose more health; this belt would be very good on this barb with its massive health pool. Also, consider taking Minor Avatar at 19th level as a buff to all stats and health, as well as weapon damage, and consider in addition to Salvation of Time picking up Spiritual Ally for endless Robust inspiration and a corrode cone spell that the summon has.
  13. Sorry for the double-post; just realized I didn't fully answer your question and I'm having trouble editing my post. If your focus is damage output only, then the build I'm working on might not be exactly what you have in mind; as shown in my previous post, the build I'm working on uses high health to tank to some degree, so it's not optimized for damage dealing only (that means that I wouldn't use the Berserker subclass; that being said, you can get Tenacious from the Priest side mid-game). Right now, the spread I'm thinking of for attributes with Berath's Blessing and a human is as follows: 15 STR, 21 CON, 8 DEX, 20 PER, 20 INT, 6 RES You could probably drop INT some to buff DEX given that Salvation of Time will help greatly with maintaining buffs; this would weaken your area of effects, but make you faster, resulting in more attacks of both the physical and spell variety. I just like to have all my characters have 20 INT for some reason. You could also probably get away with less CON; I'm maxing it in part because I want to maximize maximum health on this character for its role as a tank of sorts. One reason why I don't think Berserker is the right fit for this character, in addition to its tanking role and the availability of Tenacious from the Priest side, is that the 30% hit to crit Berserker gives is for melee attacks only, not spells or Spirit Tornado. Since this build I'm working on would more heavily focus on using spells and Spirit Tornado (holy grenade approach), Berserker isn't necessarily the best choice. Berserker is great for a melee damage dealer, risky as it is; done well, it might very well be a better damage dealer than this Shaman of Magran build I'm proposing. That being said, if you want to run Salvation of Time shenanigans for some of the really tough fights, this build I'm working on might be a good addition to your custom party. Still, a Brute is a fantastic melee character, especially given the power of the Fighter's Unbending ability. If you do go with the Brute option, definitely consider a Devoted with Morningstars; their fortitude-lowering ability pairs very well with the Barbarian's passive that makes you target fortitude instead of deflection if fortitude is lower.
  14. Depends on your style, I suppose. Barbarians do get a nice passive boost to melee damage when in range of 2+ enemies, yes; that being said, other passives can help with casting, such as Blooded. I'm actually working on an idea for a build kind of like the old "Untank" build from PoE 1 which relied on having a LOT of health and using crits on you to your advantage. While Deadfire unfortunately doesn't have anything the equivalent of the soulbound sword Steadfast, it does have Okura's Kettle (and a special hat for Rautai followers) and the Ragged Cloak for potential counterattacks when crit. If you get the shield "Lethandria's Devotion" on such a crit-prone character, you can reduce the extra damage crits do and have a small healing effect, which should add some survivability.
  15. For RED, what about a Shaman of Magran (Barbarian/Magran Priest)? With Brilliant, you can spam not only the Spirit Tornado, but also fire spells like Torrent of Flame, Ray of Fire, Fan of Flames, and more. That being said, this character might be more of a RED/WHITE character with Priest's buff spells and Salvation of Time.
  16. Sorry to double-post; tested Fleetbreaker - like Scourge of Bezzello, its enchantments (other than Bonus Crit Chance) appear to only work for the weapon itself.
  17. <a href="/File:Poe2_crossbow_exceptional_icon.png" class="image"><img alt="Poe2 crossbow exceptional icon.png" src="" decoding="async" width="100" height="100" /></a> The HTML code is showing in the list of crossbows; I think that's what Waski and Bosmer mean.
  18. Single-class does get some interesting abilities, especially if you go with custom companions. Take, for instance, the Driving Echoes ability: you can give a teammate +8 penetration, allowing their attacks (spells especially) to easily pen (e.g. Rot Skulls' AoE, fire spells against sturdy monsters, etc) , maybe even over-penetrate. That being said, it depends how you want to play your cipher; you can play it as mainly team support (e.g. Pain Block giving Robust, Ancestor's Memory giving Brilliant, Driving Echoes giving penetration, etc.), as a Raw damage specialist, as a debuffer, etc.
  19. I have proof now! See the images below (the crit was negated by Veil-Touched, though). Edit: You beat me to it XD!
  20. I was playing a Celebrant (Troubadour / Berath) human male and I was in the Engwithan Ruins on Port Maje. I checked my character, and the only source of hit-to-crit I could find was the crossbow I was wielding. This isn't that surprising given that I'm still on the starter island. Berath's Blessings include bonus skills, attributes, and 5,000 gold. Rings were Gaun's Pledge and that one Suppress Affliction ring you can find in town. No potions, drugs, consumables used. In short, I'm pretty darn sure it's the crossbow's hit to crit that made it happen. EDIT: I also remember checking the accuracy roll, and I did not get above 100; in fact, I think the target's defense was greater than my accuracy. EDIT2: Not surprising given that this was on PotD upscaled.
  21. I just got a hit-to-crit conversion on Thrice She Was Wronged; I checked my character, and the only item with hit-to-crit conversion is the crossbow I'm wielding (Bonus Crit Chance). Question is... is this something weird with Thrice She Was Wronged, or does it apply to everything? If it applies to everything, this could make crossbows an ideal weapon for TheLee's Disruptor Theurge and other crit-heavy builds. Thoughts? EDIT: This makes me wonder if Scourge of Bezzello's Whistling/Howling Bolts upgrade would also apply to spell crits, since it doesn't seem to specify that it must be weapon crits... EDIT2: Scourge of Bezzello's upgrade appears to be weapon-only.
  22. Interesting stuff. Quick question: Does the "Righteous Bash" chance to interrupt work with the retaliation effect of Magran's Blessing or only with regular attacks with it?
  23. Can someone confirm or deny that the deflection bonuses from Mask of the Weyc and the Great Escape Cloak stack nowadays?
  24. If you plan to make good use of the Duality modal (+X CON or INT, where X = number of wounds held), then I would not recommend the Shattered Pillar monk. Furthermore, with all the talents and the unique monk shield (I won't say more in case you don't want spoilers, although this is a spoilers forum section) you can gain plenty of wounds without trying to get wounds as a Shattered Pillar monk, ESPECIALLY since Shattered Pillar monk ONLY gains wounds on auto-attacks, not ability attacks. If you are playing in a party, the Helwalker can be quite good (you can get the maximum MIG of 35 with Helwalker bonus + Tenacious Blows). That being said, if you don't like the malus of the Helwalker, a normal monk or a Nalpazca (especially in a party) can be amazing.
