  1. Furyshaper is better for a caster MC, in my opinion. Both the Furyshaper wards available are great for casters, and you can always upgrade your strong inspiration to tenacious later in the game, if you get the Slayer's Claw axe.
  2. For Kind wayfarer/fury or shifter, I'd recommend the two weapon route, since Kind Wayfarer's FoD give you twice the healing when you dual wield. But if you decide to go with the Voulge, I'd recommend steel garrote/fury, focusing on lightning spells (for the stun), and hence the steel garrote passive healing when you hit them when they're stunned. This would be great on the lower difficulties, but if you play on PotD you'll really want to max PER for the crits (to proc static charge), since neither paladin or druid have good ways to boost accuracy. But what you can do is build up static charge stacks with regular attacks, and then proc it with FoD, for which you'll get bonus accuracy (+10, plus scaling with PLs), and another +10 if you wear the ring of focused flame, which you'll definitely want to do.
  3. Chanter MCs are always fun. However, if you are going for a loremaster, I'd recommend that you go with Bellower or Skald with a vanilla mage rather than a BM. The reason for this recommendation is with BM you can't empower attacks, so you'd not be able to use Sasha's Singing Scimitar to its full advantage. If you use the Grimoire of Vaprous Wizardry and Rekvu's Fractured Casque you'll have tons of spells to cast, as well as the renewble chanter invocations. However, if you want to be more melee oriented, I'd recommend a BM/soul blade hierophant. It's a lot of fun in my experience, and using soul annihilation with Citzal's lance is great.
  4. You would gain a wound and some health when berserker frenzy expires. But, as Boeroer explained, it wouldn't be very impactful since you can't shorten the duration of the negative effect of berserker frenzy with high RES, Clarity of Agony and Mohora wraps. The way forbidden fist builds typically work is you dramatically minimize hostile effects (including the FF curse) so that you suffer very little harm from them while gaining a wound & healing. With a proper build, you'll actually want to get afflicted (by walking into tanglefoot or web spells) since they overall benefit you. This however doesn't work with berserker frenzy. So it's probably not the best combo. A berserker/nalpazca ravager however is great. So long as you keep yourself drugged, you'll be overflowing with wounds. And the drugs can help mitigate the berserker's downsides; svef will prevent confusion, while white leaf with give you nice healing to help mitigate frenzy's self-damage.
  5. Is this the thread you're referring to, Not So Clever Hound? In it he suggests a berserker/tactician build, but doesn't go into any detail concerning it.
  6. Does the order really matter that much, so long as you save and reload between each drug? I got them all to stack in a recent game using a somewhat different order, namely (1) Coral Snuff, (2) Ripple Sponge, (3) Svef, (4) Taru Turu Chew, (5) Whiteleaf, (6) Mouth Char and (7) Dead Eye.
  7. I'd recommend Furyshaper/ancient. Both of the wards you get are great, and as an ancient you'll mainly be using beast/plant spells, many of which are DoT spells and hence do not need the added PEN from berserker frenzy. Just make sure to get iron will to mitigate the sharp penalty to will from furyshaper.
  8. I totally understand your paralysis. I have played many, many builds, and only have completed the game with one of them, single class monk. But I am playing a single class blood mage now and it is incredibly fun and powerful, and I plan on completing the game with it for a second time. SC is general is nice because you reach the higher level powers much earlier, and mage is particularly nice because you can rely on grimoires for spells, and save most of your ability points for passives. Multiclasses are very appealing, but I currently plan on playing them only when there is a really strong synergy between the two classes. As for priests, I've only played them multiclassed. Multiclassed with chanter, cipher or wizard are quite strong IMO.
  9. Yes. Both work with all weapons, including summoned weapons. Citzal's lance with the extra PEN and raw lash (if you're using Community Patch) is fantastic. Until you reach level 13 you can use Whispers of the Endless paths, which is a great for soul blades in general, but with Offensive Parry and your high defenses, you'll generate focus when enemies attack and miss you while casting spells or powers. Or you can cast Concelhaut's Draining Touch with the grimoire switching trick. It hits like a truck, heals you and weakens your enemy, and also targets will, which is really easy to lower with spells and powers.
  10. I'd probably wield Sasha's as well as the Lethandria's Devotion shield. Since you can't empower with a blood mage, you might consider going with a vanilla mage or another subclass. But regardless, both the scimitar and the shield are great if you are going to rely a lot on summons, since they they can boost their action speed (sasha's) as well as their defenses {lethandria's) and also heal them.
  11. You have the greatest thematic synergy with a beguiler/trickster, since both are connected in the game with Wael. Mindstalkers are also fun in general. As for an assassin MC, I prefer the assassin/soul blade combination, since soul annihilation from invisibility (with backstab) hits like a truck. Beguiler/steel garrote has nice synergy since both profit from hitting afflicted foes, and have many ways of dealing afflictions. Any of those three combos are fun to play IMO.
  12. I think a troubadour/blood mage would be a great deal of fun. You could summon hordes of undead, buff them with chants, and cast wizard spells freely, many of which fit the theme nicely. The summons would be a big plus for a solo run.
  13. This looks like a very fun build. While there are some great axes and flails that you can acquire a bit later in the game, IMO the Voulge and Willbreaker are probably the best weapons for a barbarian. And since you can get the former so early, 2-handed is probably the best way to go.
  14. That's a brilliant idea. I'd try it out, but I know from past experiments with Grave Calling that my graphics card isn't powerful enough to handle all of the chillfog procs.
  15. That would be a great combo as well! Chillfog+combusting wounds+mind blades would melt most mobs.
  16. I agree. But after casting a bunch of DOT spells, you'll always have the option to shift and switch to melee attacks, which adds some nice flexibility to the build.
  17. I think it would be viable solo. You'd probably want to go with bloodmage/beguiler, focusing on debuffs and self-buffs on the cipher side, along with disintegration, which would be very useful with bosses. You'd lack the summons on the chanter side, but could make up for it by charming and dominating instead. You'd probably want to follow the relatively tanky Blood mage solo build that Not So Clever Hound shared last year, The Bleeding Arcanist.
  18. I too only really use empower points when wielding sasha's. For the same reason, I almost never use consumables. As a result, I only really employ builds focusing on empowered attacks when playing a chanter.
  19. Troubadour/bloodmage would be fun. Bloodmage seems to fit nicely thematically, I think. If you go the druid route, don't choose ancient. The defense malus versus vessels definitely contradicts the necromancer theme.
  20. I agree with Haplok. Transcendents are powerful and a lot of fun to play, and my favorite combo is forbidden fist with soul blade (if you want to do more melee with cipher buffs) or ascendant if you want to focus more on casting cipher powers. But if you are not using mods beguiler is your best bet, for the reason Haplok noted.
  21. Have you considered steel garrote/blood mage? Blood mage brings great debuffs too, and also more defensive buffs than a cipher, making you tankier. If you chose this build, you might want to consider wielding Whispers of the Endless Paths with the offensive parry upgrade. While you're casting spells, enemies who attack you will often miss, triggering offensive parry, which will daze them and heal you. It's a strong multiclass combo with lots of great synergy.
  22. IMO Konstanten really needs a boost in both PER and INT. I like playing him as a howler, but he's really low in these stats (11 and 10) given his skald subclass.
  23. The Rumbling Boar build dumps RES; the idea with that build is that disable and kill foes quickly, and thus don't get hit too much, but enough to give you abundant wounds. And chanters are very powerful in POE2 as well. You could definitely do an all chanter party if you wanted, maybe with a solo chanter and then various chanter multiclasses.
