  1. I find the battles a tad on the easy side as they stand now. I am currently playing Normal mode and have used a mix of mindless attack, where my party takes a lot of damage to tactical attacks where my party is taking very limited damage. This is exactly as I hoped, the game requires tactics and smart use of spells like the Infinity engine games. Again, I'd say they're slightly on the easy side, I usually play the IE games on Normal too and felt they were more of a challenge, this includes my current playthrough of BG:EE. I will have to try going through the beta on Hard next which I have actually never done in an IE game.
  2. It would probably be a good idea for the coders to just check the save is made with the current version (ie: save version == game version). Would avoid false bug reports.
  3. Makes sense for a final release playthrough but one of the important things we are doing here is playtesting the combat.
  4. This still occurs in the character creation in Build v278. Seems to only be on the Morning Star for me. DxDiag.txt
  5. I think the amount of problems with the current release of the beta overshradowed any feedback that could come from it. With the next patch and in following weeks I'd expect the large issues to be taken care of and the feedback to become a lot more valuable.
  6. Is it because the hireling has no Grimoire for spells?
  7. It isn't exactly that easy, but we will send out notes that list some of the major fixes and some of the stuff we are still working on. Why don't you just use a bug tracker? That would allow you to almost completely bypass the patch notes, wouldn't it? We do use a bug tracker, but there are tons of fixes that go into the build everyday. We would have to go through and strip out the majority of fixes which may not be applicable to the beta. We are going to do that, but it won't be a comprehensive list, just the changes that we feel are most important for you guys to know. I can only imagine the time that would be wasted with having a producer wordsmith the changes that a programmer has written up for every ticket in the bug tracker.
  8. Didn't they already say that the current voice work is only temporary?
  9. I'm not too worried about this, I'll likely install BG and IWD portrait packs and the consistency will be all over the place.
  10. Writing elaborate patch notes takes quite a bit of time that can be spent else where actually fixing issues. I don't think we need them at this point in development.
  11. If it was in Assassin's Creed IV simulator, it should be in PoEt.
  12. Not really the same thing. I don't recall if this was available in all the original Infinity engine games but it is available in BG Enhanced Editions and is very useful.
  13. I would have preferred this as I preferred combat in Temple of Elemental Evil to Infinity engine games but I think that ship has sailed a long time ago. ToEE combat is the best turn based rpg combat ever I shared this opinion for the longest time, until I played D:OS. Pillars of Divinity?... Not to go off topic but I initially had this opinion during the first 10 hours of play D:OS but each combat encounter becomes this canned rock paper scissors with elements, ie: evil fire elementals conveniently standing next to a barrel of water.
  14. Just make sure to get the Circle of Eight mod before starting ToEE.

  16. I'll be hanging around in there when I can.
  17. Add into that there is nostalgia there since this project is supposed to be a continuation of a past franchise. If the music doesn't fit into that nostalgia people are not going to like it. For me personally, Baldur's Gate series had a great soundtrack but if I sit down and listen to each individual track, I am certainly going to skip over at least half the soundtrack because some of them are less notable but at the same time they set the tone well enough for when iI played the game. For example, Baldur's Gate - Down to the Sewers, it certainly sets the tone in-game but do I want to sit here listen to that song now? Absolutely not.
  18. In Project Eternity Update #12: Reddit Q&A with Tim Cain, Tim mentioned that there would be an option that would auto-pause when a character had a new ability or action they can do, basically when the characters next 'turn' starts. Currently we have a lot of pause options but there isn't really one equivalent to this one, which I think would be the most useful one there is. I am just throwing it out there because I don't want it to be missed as I find it extremely important. For reference at about 5:25 seconds : http://youtu.be/1Uyzap5FcgI?t=5m25s
  19. I haven't tried this but definitely think it should work as you described.
  20. I like what we have heard from the soundtrack. Opinions on them can are really just in the ear of the beholder. See what I did there?
  21. The Skill system in the first place is really the non-combat skills that he talked about, the Talents system as far as I can see is all combat based.
  22. If that is really how you feel then you should wait until the game is fully released. This is a beta version for testing only, and testing really requires a special mental patience that very few have. There is very little value in testing this current version until a hotfix with the main issues is released, even when that is released, there are still going to be quite a few other bugs that we were not able to find simply because the current issues leave us in a state that the game breaks before we find them. Good advice, I'm sure. But I won't be following it. I figured, look forward to reading more of your demands.
