What are you playing now?
Divinity: Original Sin and continue to play Crusader Kings 2.

Being locked into Steam because of beta participation
Wise decision. It seems that is more to do with the wide variety of definitions on what early access means and has rubbed a lot of people the wrong way.

What familiar types do you think wizards can get.
If I was to choose a familiar I would want a Succubus.

Polygon Preview Confirms No Romance Options
The better romance options in BG2 came from the modding community. I suspect the same will become true with PoE. Of course, you won't get an achievement for it then.

Issues with NPC/Item Surveys
Was Obsidian was sending feedback, thumbs up / down regarding NPC designs or possibly that was only for item designs?
-
Is there gonna be rag doll physics?
Hopefully they will not waste resources on adding rag doll physics. It was probably the $10m stretch goal :D

Issues with NPC/Item Surveys
I'm quite sure her name is Carte Blanchett. And yes, she will act as the hostess for the Lost Backer inn. Even more reason to lose youreslf at the Lost Backer Inn

Issues with NPC/Item Surveys
Good to hear we will at least be getting thumbs up feedback. I sent in my NPC back in early January. Regarding the inn backer, sounds like there might be an Inn of Broken Dreams

Issues with NPC/Item Surveys
Excellent, thank you !

Issues with NPC/Item Surveys
I am finishing up the character survey. The back story is 1250 characters. However, when I save the survey for later and return to it The backstory is cut off at 1000 characters. Possibly the database field is only 1000 characters?

Issues with NPC/Item Surveys
Glad to see this is now working. Also, a good read in the post from JE Sawyer. I suspect for NPCs their might be a lot of Godlikes :D

Obsidian's (rumoured) next kickstarter, what would you want to see?
Any of the above really. I mentioned in another thread, I'd like to see cyberpunk or steampunk, possibly the only continuing IP I can think of would be Arcanum if they somehow wrestled the license away from whomever has it. In all reality, I think they should have Tim Cain write different genres on a dart board and then throw darts.

InExile is plotting to ruin Torment by making it turn-based
I wonder if there had been a vote for Pillars of Eternity for turn based vs real time with pause what the figures would have been. I would have most certainly voted for turn based myself. While I love Infinity engine games, Temple of Elemental Evil has always been the very best D&D game because of it's excellent turn based combat. It was no surprise to me that Torment would be turn based, after all Wasteland 2 and combat in Torment was the worst part of the game.

New Kickstarter incoming
Here is to hoping for Arcanum 2 or spiritual successor to Arcanum. I would also be excited to see a cyberpunk game from Obsidian, Shadowrun was fun but too linear and Cyberpunk 2077 while it is going to be great will be a little too action oriented for me.
- Update #69: Pillars of Eternity
- New stretch goals for companions and wilderness areas?

Let's Talk About Easter Eggs ...
That sounds like a good idea to me.

Making the game support 1 handed (cursor only) play - disabilities
vril replied to Maf's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Characters Builds, Strategies & the Unity Engine (Spoiler Warning!)Should be doable. Infinity engines and I would think Fallout and ToEE should be playable with just one hand ( mouse ). I do this a lot because my right-hand gets tendinitis and I end up using my left hand and have no problem in these RPGs.

Update #10: Characteriztion with Chris Avellone
One thing I enjoy in RPGs is the opportunity for a relationship with a companion to go sour and not only will the companion leave the party, you should get the opportunity to confront / kill them. For instance, in Dragon Age: Origins there was an opportunity to kill off 2 companions when you defile Andraste's Ashes. Happy Birthday just remember that your soul birthday is not until October 1st :D

[Merged] Combat Friendly Fire
archers would need to be made noticeably stronger if they were adding such a drawback to them. I do not see archers needing to be noticeably stronger. A trained archer would not really have an issue with missing firing into a crowd, this would more come into effect for untrained archer or potentially if that trained archer has a critical miss. It all depends on the RP system that they implement as well.

Xcom
After playing the demo, this seems extremely accurate and I have no problem at all with that.
