  1. The worst part is that you can go and replace correct information with complete BS.
  2. With a dagger you can also get to quite high deflection values - don't necessarily need a shield. But the 20% on misses is just bad. Blade Turning works on 100% of all grazes/hits/crits while Riposte works only on 20% of all misses - so in theory this could be stacked I guess.
  3. It's just a regular (scaling) great sword that does burn damage instead of pierce damage. For that you invest an ability point, a spell use per encounter and a quite lengthy summoning time. THe only situation where it would be useful is if you meet enemies which are very vulnerable to fire but have very high AR against pierce and slash damage.
  4. With a paladin you can pick a passive ability at some point (PL 5 I believe) that removes the confusion completely once and for all.
  5. Actually every effect on kill is pretty great. Bloodlust gives you a stacking speed bonus (which are hard go get in Deadfire) and Blood Thirst resets recovery to 0. I plan on testing a Barb/whatever class has nice on-kill effects to maximize the effect and focus on that. Maybe paired with on-crit effects because the barb also has some nice passives for that. Paladin comes to mind with Inspiring Defeat (defenses stack). What else...? In PoE one of the most powerful melee builds was Barb with Bloodlust + Blood Thirst + Firebrand.
  6. Cool. We'll have to test. In PoE Tidefall's wounding didn't trigger Blood Thirst which could be a real bummer. Or maybe they fixed that with a patch and I didn't notice.
  7. I quit using GOG a long time ago and went back to Steam. The idea is great but in my case (mostly Linux user) the implemetation and the features are not up to date.
  8. I'm sorry to hear that. My sister in law has the same thing and it cuts me to the quick. Fortunately it doesn't happen too often. I wish for both of you that medicine can come up with a better treatment soon. Edit: same goes to Andraste.
  9. Cipher's whip does stack, yes. But it's only additive so you won't see much of a difference when backstabbing/assassinating. For auto-attacks it fine though. If you want 0 recovery after Backstab you can use an arquebus: with the modal you'll do a crit most of the time AND guns have no recovery but only reload. That means that you can immedialtey vanish into invisibility (Smoke Cloud) after your backstab/assassination. The lvl-9 ability would make sure you become invisible right after an attack - but that's not for multiclass. Something similar could be achieved by Blood Thirst (barb). But PL 7 - so pretty late as well. If you want great backstabs/assassinations as well as more sturdyness I would say that Bleak Walker is your best mate. Makes the rogue a lot sturdier and adds some nice lashes for the backstabs/assassinations. Devoted only gives you more crit damage which is not multiplicative. And you'll have plenty of bonus PEN when assassinating. Watch out with Deep Wounds! While it is a great passive it currently breaks invisibility when ticking (so stupid). I guess they will fix that if it's not already fixed in the final game.
  10. Everything that gives you multiplicative dmg bonuses is great for Assassin/whatever. That would be high MIG (e.g. Helwalker) and lashes basically (Priest of Berath, Bleak Walker, any monk with Lightning Strikes). I don't know if shifting breaks stealth, but if not then Fury with Wildstrike would also be a candidate. Remember that assassination (not Backstab) works from range and with spells and can be Devastating. So even Assassin/Nuker can be good - you don't need Backstab then. Also all abilities which scale damage with Power Level are great because it's also multiplicative. Look out for abilities/weapons with direct damage (no DoTs because the ticks break invisibility and don't work with assassination) that have high base damage and/or lashes.
  11. By the way: if Blood Thirst works anything like in PoE then Barbarian/Nuker will be a beastly combo. Not only can it cast faster due to Frenzy and Bloodlust but also nullify recovery on kill... IF Blood Thirst works as in PoE where it triggered on direct kills no matter the dmaage source (no DoT). That would allow for a nuke spammer...
  12. There is none. Unless you balance a class in a way that you have to frontload it because you can't come up with some good high level abilities...
  13. Did anybody check if Sneak Attack or even FoD and so on now scale with PL in the stream?
  14. Backstab works in a way that it favours heavy hitting attacks. Only the first attack roll out of stealth or invisib. will receive the bonus from Backstab (and Assassinate). That means that a full attack ability will only backstab/assassinate with the first strike. A blunderbuss is especially bad since only the first pellet will backstab/assassinate. Maybe Obsidian wants to put in a timer or so. A short time window after the first attack roll where you can still backstab. At the moment it favours single attacks with high base damage.
  15. What people are saying should be backed with source or else it's just hearsay. 20% sounds not right and while I believe SA got nerfed in the final game I am not 100% sure. I will try to watch the stream again and look up what the actual value is (if it is in there). Most people underestimate Crippling Strike I think. For 1 Guile it does a Full Attack that interrupts on hit (removing Concentration and still interrupting or removing 2 layers of Concentration - advantage over primary attacks like Knockdown), has a +2 PEN bonus and with Arterial Strike it has a very good DoT that is especially power- and helpful when you are moving a lot. Deep Wounds is much better than in PoE. I don't like that the rogue has so many active strike abilities and not so many good passives.
  16. I watched the stream just for char creation and if I'm not totally wrong then Sneak Attack got nerfed to 30%, but I'd have to doublecheck that. In beta4 it's 50%. I guess this is due to the MIG situation where dmg bonuses have more impact with higher MIG and this might feel too powerful...? Dual Wielding itself is still at 30% in beta4 and stream. It's just the additional two weapon style that went down from 20% (beta4) to 15% (stream).
  17. The narrator is only voiced in the prologue.
  18. The chance is 20%. In PoE it was 30% of grazes and 20% of misses. In my opinion it's not worth an ability point in its current state.
  19. Yes, that was mine. Riposte is crap again - after is was ok in PoE after some patches. Only works in 20% of misses. With Blade Turning you'll reflect all incoming melee damage and with Soul Mirror some ranged attacks as well.
  20. Dual wielding gives you a 30% speed bonus without any style. The style gives you additional 15% speed.
