  1. Given how I finished another completionist run of PoE just weeks before Deadfire's release - no, not right now
  2. No, you only have to 'buy' it first on GoG, for zero monies.
  3. Soo... is the installation of these teeny weeny DLCies super painfully slow via Galaxy for anyone else or just me? Manual installers take a fraction of the time. But then Galaxy doesn't acknowledge that a DLC is in fact installed, which annoys my ocd side.
  4. I'm looking forward to the balancing changes, but that doesn't stop me from playing the hell out of the game in the meantime.

I picked the default Ranger, but if I had to do it again, I think I would just use Ghost Hearted since the pet contributed nothing appreciable damage wise (I was using the bear, thinking it could take more than two hits, but it was worthless for longevity), and having to constantly worry about it dying and getting Bonded Grief, sucked. Also, I thought that I'd be able to make good use of the Knockdown combo to get +100% damage on attacks, but I don't believe I got it to work more than a single time. Bear couldn't prone jack. For Barbarian, it was just the standard. The main reason I took it was because: 1. 20% haste for most, if not all of any given fight and I didn't want to use the typical Monk/Ranger build, since that's already well established to be broken. 2. I didn't get any benefit from Carnage, but I did get to put Barbaric Smash to good use. It also synergized very well with the overpowered weapon I was using. Frostcaller. Plus, once I unlocked Driving Flight, it just got stupid. 3. Aside from the above two, it was all about the passives. Blood Thirst, Bloodlust, Bloody Slaughter, Wilder Hunter. Seeing how your MC so far is the only other one in here with 100k+ damage besides mine, it seems Barbarians aren't doing so bad as main damage dealers. Surprising that it even makes sense for ranged combat, but of course the passives you listed will always be useful.

Seeing how there is no Witch character so far, maybe I have to post mine... but it's more or less completely without gimmicks and special synergies and exploits of weird mechanical intricacies, so I'm almost ashamed to put it here But maybe using WoteP with soul annihilation counts as exploit of weird mechanics.
  7. Your main character was using ranged weapons, I assume? How well does this work with Barbarian abilities? And which subclasses did you use, if any?

  9. I actually like this concept. @OP: maybe something shows up when you hover your mouse over the current status effects next to your character portrait?
  10. Hm, the status effect says charmed, not dominated, that's a difference, right?
  11. I'm a bit surprised by the numbers here. Expected way higher total damage from the main characters overall (from my own experience with the game).
  12. Edit: looked it up - Witch main charakter: 188553 damage, 758 enemies defeated, 289 highest single target damage. Eder (Fighter) around 32000 (longest in party), highest companion damage Maia (Scout), approximately 65000 (in party for large parts of the game too).

  14. One thing I always found odd, already in Pillars 1 - why is there no silencing spell/ability to interrupt chanters' chanting? They simply cannot be stopped, which is the main reason why they are so strong. Everyone else gets interrupted, chanters simply chant on.
  15. Spot on OP, my feelings exactly. Factions definitely should get angry at the player at some point (before the final showdown of course).
  16. After completing the game, I don't seem to have regained any PoE1 abilities. Shame.
  17. The single most idiotic thing is that most onehanders have higher penetration than twohanders. It's so stupid it's not even funny.
  18. You forget that this is only the first, single target attack damage. It does the same damage again, at least to the primary target, and possibly to 2-3 more in the aoe. And it also applies all ability effects in the aoe, since the aoe is a full attack.
  19. isn't wtich really squishy? Quite. But atm the game is really easy, so it's absolutely no problem after early game when the party wide buffs from Paladin auras and Chanter chants kick in.
  20. You mean, other than the stacking boost to recovery on hit, up to -20% recovery, so it eventually matches dual wield-recovery rates while being able to attack multiple opponents? That sword is the best weapon in the game, bar none. And you can get it for 3000 gold as soon as you reach Neketaka. It's insane. It's still bugged afaik, so you can only get it if you put it in your game yourself. I'll just wait, my current character is a devoted fighter with longswords anyway. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Nope, it's there if you import a PoE1 save file. It's only bugged if you use the story generator. I've never had any problems getting it. Same.
  21. I love soul blade so much that I can't ever see me play a character without that class in it. Started anew as a Shattered Pillar/Soulblade now, but I can't see it replacing Witch as my favorite.

  23. No, KotOR II is great. I'll fight anyone throwing dirt at it So anyways, PoE2... I only can join in the chorus of confused voices in here. While I can't say I found any part of the plot inherently bad, a stale taste remains after the ending slides. Suffice to say, there is nothing I hate quite as much as retcons in series of games, books, ...anything. ME2 to Andromeda, Fallout 3 and 4... needless destruction of established lore makes my blood boil. Now, I think the jury is still out on Deadfire and Obsidian regerding retconning of PoE lore, and that's mainly due to the confusion the very short main plot leaves us with. But still some answers given in Deadfire are awfully close to making parts of PoE1's world and plot illogical and contradictory, which is exactly what retconning does.
