  2. No just to bring it outside to the ground. I am high up and didn't want to risk killing it. The female occupants of the house didn't want to share the balcony, said female occupant didn't want the shoe box back.

  3. Report from Avdiyivka frontline, Dmitri has in other tweet also a link to the source (if younknow Russian language). Interesting is, that it’s circulating on Russian telegrams a lot, also another interesting thing is a news, that UA destroyed troops deep in Donbas which were meant to reinforce the meat grinder, which was not reported so far by UA side.

  4. I have decided to play Arx Fatalis next, I have never completed it and I configured some recommended mods like Arx-libertatis which is more a game overhaul https://arx-libertatis.org/ It should be fun and I remember it has a unique magic casting system where you use Runes and you have to follow a pattern with the mouse .Further updates to follow

  5. Media are grumpy at the refereeing. Personally I agreed with just about every decision which is way more than usual and think the media are whining. Wasn't surprised Cane got a red, wasn't surprised Kolisi got a yellow. It was a close match, but I'd struggle to call it a good one partly due to the rain. ABs did a lot better than I expected at the start of the tournament and could easily have won with a bit of luck, but thems the breaks.

  6. Saw a praying mantis in person for the first time. It was on my balcony hanging upside down. When I got close with a shoe box and it turned its head towards me, I took a step back.

  9. Snowed in so I made a soup out of whatever I had. Potatoes, sausage, peppers, onions, garlic, celery, chicken and veggie broth, and spices. Added a little milk and lemon juice to finish. Turned out pretty great but sausage and potatoes so the deck was stacked in my favor.

  10. Finished Jedi Survivor. Yes, the port is still pretty horrific, and would advise waiting for deep, deep discount just on account of that, but even ignoring that I wasn't too impressed with the title. For context - in spite of it's faults, I really liked Fallen Order. I think youtuber, Monty Zander got it right calling it Lipstick on a Pig, but what a good lipstick it was. The sequel is very much the same - but more and bigger. And while Lipstick isn't much worse, I also feel there isn't more of it this time around, to cover the pig that's grew to be much, much bigger. That, as well there law of diminishing returns, made it much harder to look past game's poor aspects. So allegories aside: combat is still pretty ****. There are more stances, but I didn't feel they contributed much to gameplay. Platforming is still very stilted and scripted. I also found enviroment very difficult to read, and found myself relying on map a lot - those have been rather detrimental as most of the open world content revolves around collecting things. Having to rely on map to see where you can go, and later on where collectibles are (really some of them blend so much with the enviroment, even knowing something is there, I struggled to locate it) just doesn't make for an engaging game loop. The game in general felt more unfinished and janky than FO. Fortunately, story is still alright. Character writing and interactions are a highlight but while story/plot eventually get good it takes a long time and a lot of padding to get there. I also felt the game came near finding an interesting second arc for Cal, but I don't think it quite gets there. Too much time gets wasted on chasing McGuffins and one dimentional antagonists, to make enough space for actually good times. Action setpieces also felt more vapid this time around.

  11. I played Arx Fatalis many years ago. It's almost a great game. Almost. I'd write that Arkane flew too close to the sun, but it's a game set on a planet without a sun, soooo... The game has some interesting ideas not necessarily executed particularly well. Whether that's due to hardware limitations or developer inexperience or lack of time/resources I don't know. I remember it being jank as ****, and this is coming from a guy that goes out of his way to play jank games.

  12. I too have only ever seen one in person in the wild, and it was such a momentous occasion to me that I called all my coworkers outside to see it. One guy got too close and it flew at him chasing him a few parking spots.

  13. Halloween Ends (2022) - out with a whimper. The film tries some new angles with moving on and some dumb **** about getting infected by evil, but that can't save it from being boring. Many of the kills are too telegraphed and almost feel justified, with few exceptions the murders committed by the Shape very much have the stamp of just deserts on them. It just can't capture the feelings of terror that Halloweens (both the original and the 2018 sequel) and Halloween 2 did, and ends up being a confused mess in a bad way. Fargo (1996) - Ah gees. It's great, I adore small scale crime films without hypercompetent ant/protagonists and this delivers that beautifully. Even when getting into grim territory like triple homicides it's able to bounce back into a comedic tone that feels almost wholesome, which I can partially attribute to the midwestern accents that saturate the film.

  14. I got that game around the time it was released together with Morrowind. It crashed literally every ten minutes and Morrowind every thirty minutes. Guess which game of the two I then completely ignored until this very day

  16. SA beat NZ last night in the RWC final, 11-12. Another 1 point difference I thought the game was absolutely exciting and nail-biting and both teams demonstrated brilliance, both teams had opportunities to play the Rugby they love unlike the England vs SA game which was ugly I think overall SA played a better game but around kicking and tackling, we suffered in the lineouts and NZ dominated with the skill of there backline. The way they can pass the ball without " looking " always impresses me NZ was unlucky with the red card and but we got 2 yellow cards and dangerous tackles are dangerous tackles. I think the English referees overall did an excellent job at explaining things and most decisions considering the pressure of this final, no one is going to happy with every decision But NZ really lost because they missed a conversion and a penalty and we only scored points because of penalties so that tells me how effective the defense was for both teams. But end of the day amazing final and the game could have literally gone either way Players on the SA side who made the biggest difference for me were Pieter Steph du Toit with his incredible and important tackles and Pollard of course with his kicking France did an excellent job at hosting the RWC, it was very well organized and the stadiums were very well maintained. The firework display was beautiful at the end. Kudos to France for a well managed RWC I am hungover again this morning and if I knew I was going to be so thirsty this morning I would have drank more last night But end of the day it was a brilliant and exciting RWC and it exceeded my expectations with all the twists and turns on how the various countries advanced. Well done to SA for winning the final, they can be proud of their performance @Zoraptor whats the general NZ media consensus of the game, I thought NZ played a brilliant overall RWC and proved there critics wrong who had written them off in the beginning

  17. It was of Fantasy - one of the publicity shots of her and the floating head (had to crop out the floating head to make it work as an avatar). Sorry for the confusion. Should have added italics to House to be clear!

  18. I just realized this game is only a handful of days away from release: I played the demo 2 Next Fests ago and LOVED it. The only bummer is that the release is so close to The Talos Principle 2. Once TTP2 comes out all other games cease to exist until I 100% it. First world problems.

  20. I like Wizard summoned weapons, but I don't think Conjurer does anything particularly noteworthy with them to justify going as that subclass for that kind of build. Like I said in the post up the thread, the Conjuration PL bonus only translates into more duration for summoned weapons, which gives you some more seconds of uptime with your weapon and may save you from having to recast it again during longer fights. In practice, this bonus duration might not even be relevant for encounters beaten before your original summoned weapon wears off. If Wizard summoned weapons scaled with PL like Monk fists, I would think it more worthwhile to try to stack PL for them as a Conjurer, but as it is in the game currently, I am simply unexcited by additional duration being my only benefit in this application. The bigger issue for me is losing Illusion spells as a Conjurer, especially if I'm going as a more melee-focused build with summoned weapons because the Illusion school offers some very welcome defensive buffs. Again, it's not the end of the world for a frontline Conjurer without Illusions spells since you can get defensive buffs from the non-restricted Enchantment spells such as Llengrath's Safeguard or Citzal's Martial Power, plus they won't actually suffer the increased recovery penalty as non-Conjuration spells due to being instant cast anyways. However, these spells have awkward conditionals such as requiring you to drop to half health before triggering or preventing subsequent spellcasting. Meanwhile, Illusion spells like Wizard's Double, Mirrored Image, and Llengrath's Displaced Image provide straightforward and effective defensive buffs while also being available much sooner than the aforementioned Enchantment alternatives. You might not need these defensive bonuses if you instead go for ranged summoned weapons like Minor Blights or Blackbow, but even then you're still only getting bonus duration with these weapons as a Conjurer. The PL bonus is just not that impressive for Conjuration spells, and I feel like it doesn't nearly make up for the tradeoff of losing Illusion and Evocation spells when you go Conjurer subclass. I feel like you don't even look at the subclass PL bonus when going Conjurer, and just get creative like @Constentin Lévine's suggestion of cycling Conjure Familiar to get as many stat bonuses as possible. There's an opportunity cost of having to cast Conjure Familiar over and over again and needing to apply the Brilliant inspiration on the Conjurer to allow this, but at least it would be a stronger bonus compared to the subclass' innate Conjuration PL bonus.

  22. Spy X Family s2 episodes 1-3: Return of the Anya face. It's ok, but forgettable. I probably wouldn't keep up with the show of this was the introduction. I watched them last night. Looks like the movie drops later this year.

  23. WoT S2E8 On the positive side, it's far better than the previous season's finale, despite my multitude of complaints. On the negative side that's largely because of just how bad s1e8 was. Worst episode of the 8, though it's always hard to judge season finales fairly. Series negatives: number 1 by far is the persistent lack of care to detail and what changes actually mean going forward, plus the related issue of all the nonsensical drama. Nothing seems to have been learnt from GoT either, where that sort of thing ended up collapsing the series into a complete thematic and narrative mess. The OC additions are not compelling and time could have been far better spent elsewhere. They want to use iconic book moments but don't want to do the work to make them work. It's far too much the Egwene and Moiraine show. Positives: far better overall than last season despite that and I'd go so far as to say I more or less enjoyed most of it despite the fristration. Lanfear and Ishamael are good, though Lanfear is always exactly as 'evil' as the plot requires. The acting is pretty much all good, most of the sets are a vast improvement and it certainly doesn't look like Xena despite the massive budget most of the time, unlike S1. The scripting in terms of words said is also generally fine, it's just the context of them which is too often bad. They really, really, have to work on the plotting and planning, and maybe just maybe cut out some of the fanboying for pet characters. Just a tad, lest we get a million jokes about renaming the 3rd book The Egwene Reborn. Will I watch S3? Probably, at least if they give me another free trial period for it. Actually paying might be a stretch.

  24. Spy x Family 29 Another "bad" episode, divided into two parts. In the first one, Anya and her friends play cards to decide who gets a special dessert. The second part is about Yor helping Franky find a cat. At least we got something interesting in Anya's and Damian's relationship. Also: @Bartimaeus's prophecy about shocked faces is fulfilled and they reach an entirely new level, with Anya going full super sayajin. Seriously, I'm not even exaggerating, all that was left was for her hair to turn blond:
