  4. He brought it onto himself. Buying a high end character, not even trying to play the game first, and then going right into streaming it to the world while playing like an absolute noob... wtf did he expected would happen? I have never played any of the path of exile games and even I would have handled this better.

  5. It’s not an interview - just writing around some bullet points from Josh’s video, which they thankfully posted in “the article”.

  7. alas no. i completely forgot about helmet/godlike conflict. hmmm so no death godlike bonuses, but you would still be able to get +2 PL from potion and cheesily stack it with +1 PL from resting bonuses, so that's something. if you're willing to include eder with a berath blessing, you could add one more pet with a lash (amanita, +3% corrode lash to party)

  8. just to repeat - Recall Agony would probably be the biggest lift you can add on top. It would functionally be a 30% lash on top of all the damage you do, if i understand correctly. But at this point you might try power level stacking, because you would be boosting a part of your equation with a lower base (prestige + empower). Death Godlike at near death, with stone of power, with potion of ascendancy, possibly with one of the foods that gives you +PL (you'd have to save/reload or something to get it to turn into a passive), etc.

  9. Huh? I def. empowered it in the past - even before CP existed. I mean it's like Inner Death was made with Empowered Strikes in mind (or the other way round). But to be sure I tested it again 5 minutes ago. No mods, new char, new playthrough: Inner Death + Empower in the vanilla game works fine for me. See the little vid I made just now: Maybe this is your problem with Empower + Inner Death: one cannot empower any ability that got added with the console. Instead you have to level up manually and pick the ability that way. Then you can empower said ability (if it works with Empower in the first place). I just give the char in question enough XP to level up to 20. Then I set their class level to 19, do the last level-up manually and pick the ability I want to test with Empower. Yeah, I also eyed Vrer Chiora and Mouth Char. They should stack just fine bc. one is universal crit dmg and the other weapon dmg. Will test later...

  10. Vrer Chiora (food, +25% crit damage) Crucible Token (trinket, +15% Damage against the challenged enemy - dunno if stacks) Mouth Char (drug, +15% Damage dealt with weapons - dunno if stacks)

  11. Ah, I see... In vanilla you can't empower Inner Death, either.

  12. For the 1000+ dmg strike I used Empower + Empowered Strikes (and the relevant Empower passives) to guarantee a crit. This gives me the +300% dmg from Inner Death which does the heavy lifting - and the +100 PEN for Overpenetration from Empowered Strikes. And with Community Patch some dmg bonuses are a little bit higher. Let's see if I can remember all (didn't save the test character): Original base damage: 40-80 crush. additonal base damage: Prestige (+5%) Empower (+25%) sum: +30% base additive: Inner Death (+300% from crit) Might 35 (+75%) Overpenetration (+30%) Critical Hit (25%) Precognition - Tails, You Lose (+25%) Potent Empower (+20% CP/+15% vanilla) Improved Critical (+15% CP/+10% vanilla) High Harbinger's Robes - Accelerated Decay (+10%) Infamous Captain (+5%) Ajamuut's Stalking Cloak - Bushwack (+5%) sum: +510% additive CP/+500% vanilla lashes: Turning Wheel (+20% burn) Lightning Strikes (+15% shock) Horns of the Aurochs - Winter's Touch (+10% freeze) Hylea's Talons - Raking Grasp (+5% slash) Belt of Magran's Chosen - Linked in Flames (+3% burn) Fjord pet (+3% freeze) sum: +56% multiplicative I think that's it. Lashes had no issue with individual ARs in this test. It was obviously a good, high roll not too far from 80. I think Stone of Power's +1 PL would be a better choice than Precognition because the 5% added base would work nicely with the +475% dmg bonus then - and Precognition only works for the first 2 crits of combat. The cloak isn't really necessary but I wanted to try an be an Assassin without being one. Shared Flames and Aefyllath would be a really nice addition to a party with Inner Death (when CP is installed). If you guys have additional ideas to raise the dmg further please share. I guess there's consumables I could use - and there might be items that are better than what I used in this test.

  13. It's a bit weird, at some point a few years ago, it definitely seemed like they were downsizing resources for the game, with patches becoming sparser and less/smaller DLCs. Then they completely switched their approach, and the game now has two teams working for it, a "custodian" team that creates patches and balance updates (and not just small ones) for existing content, and a team that makes new content for DLCs. I'm not sure how they make money of it. I guess the DLCs sell enough, even after all these years. (I've certainly bought them all :p)

  16. Apparently only 10% of people got the steam achievement for reactivating the White Forge, which I guess means only around 10% of players completed The White March: Part 1. That's shocking if true and more than a little sad, Obsidian did a great job with the expansions and it's such a shame if most players never even got to see those areas. Josh Sawyer did an interview with a site called TheGamer just yesterday and was saying they found two thirds of people don't finish games they start. Considering a lot of the best content in games tends to be towards the end where you're encountering all the enemy types, have all the abilities and gear and are reaching the climaxes of all the story threads, I wonder what it must feel like to spend years working on these things and know most people aren't even getting to the best (and presumably the parts that took the most effort to make) parts of the game. https://www.thegamer.com/fallout-new-vegas-josh-sawyer-finishing-games-not-important-skyrim/

  17. When did (PC) blockbuster/AAA gaming become an association anyway. I mean, I'm sure there were ones that always had bigger budgets vs. others but I used to go to the store, there were 10-30 titles on shelves, I'd ponder if any were good, randomly pick something. Store shelf wise, it's not like there was 70k+ pc games existing at that point. Like, Myst was originally published by the same who published Mavis Beacon Typing. >.> I wasn't enough of a game-geek back then I guess to be aware of "AAA" gaming, they were just ... there, like picking a can of soup. Although magazines made you aware of popular-game developers. But yeah ... AAA today mostly means "attract as large an audience as possible for sales numbers", which for some reason is equated to mega development and marketing budgets. So they tend to become pretty generic, or just sequels of sequels. edit: and these days, remakes and reboots...

  18. you could effectively further boost the functionality with a con affliction on the target, and something like recall agony. i wonder if it hits a territory where you can one shot a troublesome boss of some sort. also lol if you had a chanter or furyshaper to get health restoration off damage, healing 150 health on a single hit would be insane.

  24. No, very unlikely. Which sucks. I don't think there are any Microsoft-published games on GOG whatsoever, same with Obsidian's games since the acquisition. (Post-MS-acquisition TOW was released on GOG but was published by Private Division.) Yeah I hated that too... check this out if you haven't: https://www.nexusmods.com/pillarsofeternity2/mods/469

  25. I spent a lot of time, for a while, on Path of Exile 1 (from the original beta period onward). Gave them a lot of cash (stashstashstash and pets). I haven't touched it in some years. I was mildly keeping an eye on PoE2, but from what I've seen I think I shall pass. That passive skilltree and their constant chr. resets (that applied even to non-seasonal/don't care about seasons, chrs) so you'd have to redo it (and no wholesale respec feature) - had enough of that routine. ================ Anyway, right now it's not "what I am playing" but "what I am downloading." If I didn't have fiber net, Indy is not a game I'd want to put up with to download. Even with fiber net, because Steam sometimes is 30-50% slower than our "potential max", it's still 30-ish minutes. WAHHH. Gimmie my full speed, Steam, you wankers. *me playing microscopic sad violin for spoiled, short-attention-span brains* ...of course I'm joking. Mostly I'm still worried about it installing/compiling/starting properly. Cross fingers.
