So maybe a year ago one of my upper back molars broke in half/off. But since I'm silly/stupid and almost never do the dentist thing, and there was no pain (I assume it "died" at some point, so it cracked), I didn't do anything about it. Then a lower back molar started to shift rotation and wiggle a bit. Then this week the gum above the broken upper molar finally had an infection. So today I had both removed. Dentistry has improved a lot in 17 years. No pain, fast. Those 3d images of your teeth they can do etc are pretty neat too. Other than those two teeth, everything else looked pretty good, weirdly enough. They have no idea why the one started wiggling. Per usual I'm complimented on having a mouth that never seems to produce tartar even after decades. After healing months I may get some implants. I explain all that because like many before me, as I lie half asleep in a chair as my jaw is tugged and pulled around, I kept asking myself: WHY do dentists/cleaners always yap at you and ask chatty questions while they have tools/fingers in your mouth - it's not like you can answer.2 points

I read somewhere that it's turned more in the Mass Effect direction, where you mostly control the main character and the party members don't contribute as much. Can't remember where I read it, so no idea how true. EDIT: Oh, it was mentioned in that article too, guess I didn't imagine it.1 point

They might have been looking for a replacement of St. Petersburgh Larian, which they shut down when the Russian kerfuffle started. Warsaw sounds like a decent place for a studio on a budget with a lot of talent to draw from, and it is close enough within the time zone to support their 24h development cycle. ex-CD Project folks are an obvious titles, but there are a lot of polish devs and would-be-devs out there. It also seems like CDPR folks are more than happy to leave on their own, considering the ammount of "by ex-CDPR devs" attacked to indie projects, so I wouldn't worry too much. If anything, big budget RPG competition, might made CDPR care a bit more about their employees.1 point

I wonder if this is a real development or not: https://www.reuters.com/world/europe/putin-wants-ukraine-ceasefire-current-frontlines-sources-say-2024-05-24/1 point

Azdeus, make sure they aren't just victims of budget cuts, using the same x-ray since November for all patients. LC, I take post-its with me to dentists, with pre written answers that I can hold up. It totally breaks their chattyness flow.1 point

https://wccftech.com/dragon-age-dreadwolf-has-everyone-at-bioware-really-happy-with-how-it-turned-out/ It's the #1 game in my Steam wishlist, so I want it to be good <fingers crossed>. Don't have much else in the way of what I want: a party-based fantasy RPG that is NOT turn-based combat.1 point

I think I put around 250 hours into WOTR so far. Completed it once, about halfway through the second play through. I have an unfortunate tendency to tunnel vision on a game that interests me until I feel burnt out on it. Then put it aside for 6-12 months, pick up my last save and rinse and repeat. That being said, the Lich does play somewhat differently in combat compared to my first Barbarian/Trickster/Legend game. Also, skipping the puzzles wherever possible, because they aren't fun after the first handful. Not a min/max player, so focusing on necromancy over flashier spells changes the balance of some encounters. Some easier, some harder, compared to brute force approaches. edit: later boss fights needs support spells more than anything anyway, at least that was my impressions from the first time1 point

Larian were one time working on one. Beware, a very young Swen Vincke inside. :d The travelling and camping system in both Pathfinder games is clearly inspired by the Realms Of Arkania games (the first two that had a travelling and camping system, that is). Realms Of Arkania = Dark Eye / Das Schwarze Auge.1 point

I gonna finish this Azata route and then call it a day. Pathfinder setting is overall decent enough. Rogue Trader does not interest me. Who knows, maybe Owlcat will be doing a Dark Eye game.1 point

Well, for all my frustrations, I've put over 80 hours into that WOTR save over the course of over two years (despite never finishing it). And Kingmaker I DID actually finish. In hindsight, that also benefited from a change of pace every once in a while. There's even some easy detective work in that chapter with the plague spreading, and you tasked to get to the source of it. Plus, the nature of the campaign means that enemy variety was a tad higher in Kingmaker. Whereas it is mostly Demons in WOTR (which also means a lot of enemies with higher resistance to spells,.... which has side effects as to combat variety in itself as well. Btw. Unlike any other enemy defensive stats, NONE of the enemy difficulty settings makes this scale. It's the same resistance on lower as well as harder). I mean, Owlcat's basic idea of encounters is mostly stat block vs buffs as is. Gone are the ideas of even ancient Icewind Dale 2 toying with the environment as a factor (barrels, goblin wardrums that when not destroyed would call for reinforcements, ambushes with archers protected /harder to reach because of walls). Owlcat CAN do setpiece (see Oleg's). However, most of the time, they copypaste an enemy stat block, and have you running into that over and over. edit: As to Larian, I've never finished DOS as well for similar reasons. The first map obviously had seen the most luvin' (Early Access). I still fondly remember the encounter with the bomb/s on the graveyard. But: As soon as the second map, you'd run into the same orcs for a while over and over. Their combat system may have been nice. Their encounter system outside a few unique encounters got progressively worse though. Plus, unlike BG3, DOS is a game with a heavy combat focus as well. Every path through every map is gatekept by an enemy. The alternatives to combat aren't there. So the game would rely far more on superior encounter design than BG3.1 point

Delicious in Dungeon 8 and 9 Somehow Laios didn't know his sister and Marcille went to school together, despite all the time the spent as a group in their adventures. I know they've been eating monsters since episode 1, but episode 9 is literally "if you can't beat them, eat drink them". Tensei Slime 55 The Crusaders being beaten by goblins was hilarious. This is an entirely different level from most other fantasy stories. Moonlit Fantasy 20 The plot just skyrocketed with the momentum from the previous episodes.1 point

Sorry about the necro, but I just accidentally came across this thread and I would like to chime in and say that there are definitely more ways to make Xoti/Maia romance happen. On my first playthrough I did not look for this outcome specifically and everything just happened naturally. I played a Goldpact Paladin choosing mostly Rational/Stoic dialogue options in dialogues. I also did not encourage any Watcher/Xoti romance stuff. In particular I did not have the two specific dialogues you mention (I spoke with Serafen on the deck of the Defiant, so Eder couldn't hear us) and I did not even have him in my party while speaking to Syri the Siren. I never picked that dialogue line or in any way pushed Xoti towards Maia before their romance happened. I did remove Eder from my party once I arrived in Neketaka and could add Pallegina and Maia to my team. In fact all this time I thought that Xoti/Maia romance was inevitable if you did not go out of your way to discourage it. Game ending spoiler alert:1 point

The x-rays were dated and I saw them side by side so there were minor differences in angle. And, while they are victims of budget cuts, it manifests in lengthy queues for non-emergency surgeries. Which means that I'll likely have to wait a loooong time for surgery0 points
