  1. While they are cutting off results of ****ty decisions, they should get rid of the focus on NFT nonsense as well

  2. Having played the North American beta last month I can confirm that it pulled out all the stops for Wuxia tropes (of course a heaping helping of Qinggong, but also martial arts manuals, Qi cultivation, and references to the Jianghu), of which I heartily approve. I also suspect the inclusion of golden swallows in this trailer are a reference to Cheng Pei Pei's character in <<Come Drink With Me>>.

  3. Yeah, if you dive down the short there are a bunch of funny channels.

  5. If you mean the Hinterlands, leaving it right after you have enough "points" (I think, it was the influence the Inquisition had on the key NPCs?) might be the best option. The area looks very lovely (with all those autumn forests and mountains), but aside from few side quests and the high dragon, it is leaning towards environmental storytelling, rather than more explicit narratives. Which is good in Souls-likes, not dialogue-heavy party-RPGs. While I did not dislike it, the large maps with little story impact per square meter were not the strength of the game. But at least I got an immortal horse. Better than Skyrim out of 10.

  6. The last update on the physical goods was on 21 March 2024. I suppose, it is understandable that physical items are more challenging to deliver, but it has been two years. Still, I probably will get the Masks DLC and Owlcat's next game few months post-release (unless backing them).

  7. Dragon Age: Inquisition - GOTY Edition is free on EGS. The EA App is still required, judging by the store page description. At this rate, if EA just released DAII and Inquisition (and the Mass Effect series) on GOG for full price, I would have purchased it just to avoid the damn DRM. Well, I still have the disc images (the games were released when the physical media were more popular) and the installation files, so might as well try to look for the "unofficial patches" online.

  9. One of those completely random encounters on YouTube... this Vietnamese woman and her German boyfriend (they're living in Germany) creates some sometimes hilarious video shorts on cultural differences

  10. I agree it was good. What annoys me the most is how blatantly they sometimes cheat, with monsters teleporting in mid combat and all that. There's no way you can prepare for that kind of stuff, and there's also practically no way the game mechanics would allow that. However, I did indeed enjoy both games, despite all their many flaws. @kanisatha, what's that shoddiness you mentioned?

  11. Well, it's D&D 5e. Tbf, 2e (BG1+2) wasn't particularly complex either. A lot of level ups boiled down to pushing a button, seeing your THAC0 come down and getting more hitpoints. That said, combat itself in BG3 is on the easier side. In parts because Larian have fiddled with D&D action economy. They've also removed the limit how many magic items a character can attune -- and those are plentiful and have The Power™. Still, in particular early on, combat is oft but one possible way of many. Depending on your character, various hostile NPCs may be neutral just by your pick in character race, etc. And even a low INT barbarian gets the opportunity to just intimidate foes out of engaging in combat every once in a while.

  12. My only fear for BG3, apart from the Larian aroma, is that the spreadsheets look a tad too basic. Tbf I have yet to play the game myself. For Owlcat games I fully agree they should cut them down by 1/3 and focus on encounters being more engaging. That being said, for such long games, if nothing else you always had the next level to look forward to and to keep you going.

  13. Hm, is it just my browser or do most of my amusing links of late suddenly stop working about 2-3 days after I post them?

  15. I have now reduced difficulty in Troubleshooter to Easy, down from Hard. I am not mentally prepared to figure out the min maxing required to finish DLC 2 on hard. Or normal for that matter. I may go down to story difficulty, since at 300 hours, I am only interested in seeing where the story ends

  16. My friends and I have just started a multiplayer game. I am on PS5, and my friends are on PS4 and PS5. Initially it worked fine, but them started crashing when I tried to load the game up. The crash happens after I have chosen my character. At first the crashes would happen a few times before it loaded up successfully. In the past two days the crashes are happening every time (I have made approximately 30 attempts). The error code is CE-108255-1. I have tried deleting all other saves, reinstalling the game and rebuilding my PS5 database from safe mode. All my other games work fine. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

  17. Has the new patch fixed any of your mentioned problems? I still can't load any of my saves to find out what the patch did.

  19. Hubby's been pretty depressed off and on. Goes up and down, he's trying to stay positive etc. But took a few long weekends, kinda mopes around the house or sits silent in my room on weekends, watching me PC for hours since he doesn't feel like doing anything else. >.> His sister will be moving back to the Bay Area soon - they plan to stay a while, then sell that house and retire in far south California. I really think we should go with them. It's sad tho, when 50% of why hubby doesn't want to retire is because ... his work's health insurance. Ours is currently so good (cost wise - pretty much zero for everything) that it feels like it'd be a mistake to not have it available as long as possible. Gotta look at things again, maybe there's ways around it.

  20. People who paid for physical items during the KS campaign are still waiting for their orders to be fulfilled. For months and months Owlcat kept issuing monthly promises that the items are "on the way" and that their "small size" was a big part of why they were having trouble getting those shipments done. Then, the monthly promises became perfunctory, literally the same message cut and pasted into a new monthly announcement. And now they have just simply stopped sending out messages altogether after many backers, including some superbackers, called them out and harshly criticized them. Instead of working on four new games, which itself is silly for a mid-level studio, they should drop one of those projects so they can provide basic, decent customer support for their KS backers.

  21. Having started out with fewer than 20 people, growth to 500 is crazy. And my guess is that most of those people are contractors and/or low quality people. Given how shoddily they have treated the backers of WotR who paid for physical items in the KS campaign, I am now rather disillusioned with Owlcat. It's why I have removed Rogue Trader from my Steam wishlist, effectively boycotting that game. They will need to win me back for the future.

  22. This just in: For anybody hoping that Owlcat would slow down and reverse their "quantity over quality" stance -- well, bad luck. Owlcat may have released three epics (plus DLC) within barely half a decade. Each of those making any BG game look like a dinner snack. But clearly that was not enough. Seems like they aim for the Guinness World records next. company comprises about 500 individuals. they are currently developing 4 games with 4 separate teams. development of two of these games started just recently. games are being created using Unity and Unreal Engine. company's primary focus lies in creating RPGs with rich narratives and complex mechanics. one game being an original IP. next games likely will feature full VO and better cutscenes
