  1. Goal nr. 1/2024 has been achieved January 29, 23:00 – My first finished game of 2024 has become Dark Souls: Remastered on PS4. I have reached the Dark Lord ending after almost 80 hours and 292 deaths, which I have accumulated, while trying to get every item in game, and fulfill all prerequisites for Platinum Trophy. And due to the personal challenge, I have also cleared the all DLC areas and bosses, which are not needed for it. At the end I had to finish Gwyn, Lord of Cinder in 1 on 1 fight, as I have failed Solaire's quest due to visit of Lost Izalith sooner, than required. This is the first time, that I have finished Soulsborne game with melee character build. The side-effect was, that I have died much less to trash mobs, but most of the boss fights were much more challenging.

  2. OK @Zahuaisready, @SenSx, I collected the bits. I only have the couple of remaining changes to do and I will upload French files with next BPM version (along with a couple of minor changes) EDIT : Ok, it is ready, but I will playtest it a bit. Final files :FR localized package.zip

  3. He has a lot of good arguments, how Putin might do it. The goal is not the all out war against NATO, but doing something, that would be very probable to make some big players to not respond to the invocation of Article 5, which if he could achieve, would make the NATO useless overnight.

  4. Pretty much what I do, since I also upload my screenshots to my own domain I haven't opened the Steam Screenshots window in very long time. Anyway, haven't really been feeling like playing much that really engages the brain, thankfully there's the kinda brain dead, but cinematic, nature of much of Star Citizen's currently available game loops, like cargo hauling (well, when not dodging (wannabe) pirates anyway)... Star Citizen regularly has a soft reset, where one of the things that resets is your starting location. Recently I've been using that opportunity to move around the Stanton-system and until the last reset (earlier this week), I was based out of Hurston (capital: Lorville), home of Hurston Dynamics. My favourite "large" combat ship: the Constellation Andromeda. Tanky, big pew pew, and missiles for daaaaays. Landing one of these elegantly is a bit of an art. Hitting the chin against the floor is a pretty real possibility with the landing gear that far back... Finally saved up for one of these: an Aegis Eclipse. Resulting in probably one of my favourite screenshots so far. My, so far, last addition to the fleet is a MISC Reliant Tana because it has a great "bubble" ****pit, while still being decently fast in atmosphere, which makes zipping around planets taking in the sights a pretty great experience. (and if that ship makes you think of some other ship in some other universe, the person that designed this apparently ended up moving to LucasFilm...)

  5. Yeah, lots of similar articles in Foreign Affairs and Foreign Policy as well. Main argument seems to be that as Russia and Putin get past their shock over how the war went at the beginning, and now see the war being successful for them (whether true or not), they are becoming more emboldened to push back against NATO, including renewing their core policy of trying to drive a wedge between Europe and the US.

  6. Alan Wake. Finished the main game, started the DLC. The story is nice, the technical aspects of the gameplay, where the MC cannot hit in melee, sprint for long, or dodge reliably (might be the "git gud" thing) could be better. I suppose, the MC wasn't working out, unlike the Control MC, who could sprint indefinitely. In terms of structure and pacing, Alan Wake feels tighter than Control, though losing all gathered weaponry at the start of each episode was unpleasant. The music was excellent. Slay the Princess. The developers were quite compelling in their post, thus, I purchased the game on GOG. The art style and the voice acting (which I kept on, because the Voices/characters had too similar fonts, except the Princess) were very expressive and fitting, while the length of each scene aligned perfectly with my attention span. The most important aspect for me was how much the game reacted to my choices and how many branching paths were there. After finishing the game, I can confirm that there were many more than I have experienced (checked an achievement guide) and I would like to try some of them.

  7. Funding of peacekeeper is not voluntary, as every Member State is legally obligated to pay their respective share towards peacekeeping. Unlike with UN refugee organosations where funding is voluntary and is mostly done by USA.

  8. My favorite gem from the comment section was: This thing was the epitome of "source: dude just trust me". The format is very close to the Extra Credits History videos, which are pretty well researched and put together. I also only got about 6 minutes in.

  10. Last year I built a 5700G-based system in a SilverStone Milo 10 case, half for the novelty of it. This was after finding that my NUC8, which features Iris graphics better than the NUCs that came after it, was still incapable of running fairly light games like Rogue Legacy 2 - a side-scrolling platformer. It was basically the best I could do in a case of that size, which has absolutely nil support for a standalone video card. Hell, in the "short" case configuration I'm using, most CPU stock coolers don't even fit. So yeah, I guess I would be the target market for something like this.

  11. giving our self a much needed rest from family after making jibarito for a troop. is a fair amount o' effort for a sandwich, so is a once-or-twice a year event, but is worth it. admitted we didn't think the meal through as we got young relatives visiting and they always hang out in our kitchen while am cooking. ordinary we avoid anything requiring a deep fry when kids is underfoot. that said, nobody suffered 3rd degree burns today, so am calling it a win. last night we had chicken vesuvio. (edit: we use yukon gold potatoes even though russets is traditional. yukon gold is a better braising potato. also, we hate when the peas in this dish is over cooked, so we add 'em near end of oven time.) the chicago inspired menu theme were coincidental. ... maybe we make brownies for our young cousins. am not much into baking, but is easy and the kids can help. also, as the brownie were invented in chicago... HA! Good Fun!

  12. maybe just a little bit different as peacekeepers remain members o' their original national military or police force even if the UN has operational control. *shrug* the following is not directed @Elerond is always good to wait for info, but the fact the UN ain't denying allegations and they has public condemned the actions o' more than a handful o' staffers should give a few obsidian board champions o' the oppressed pause. and again, we are contemplating the possibility that multiple UN personal were somehow embroiled in a terrorist attack... is a fair bit different than one-off acts o' unforgivable moral turpitude. the defense is that so far less than two dozen un staffers has been fired? serious? if more than a dozen un personnel were having organized sex slave rings servicing un peacekeepers, then maybe we are getting a bit closer to analogous and is pretty terrible regardless. so ask self if the current kerfuffle were genuine analogous but it involved the malfeasance o' uk diplomats, cia agents, catholic priests or some other group you is justifiable suspicious 'bout. would you be defending all the innocent cia agents who the cia did not immediate fire when the story went public? would you be defending the larger organization who fired the folks caught doing something wrong? is ok to admit the situation looks terrible. is ok to admit that given the lack o' un defense o' those staffers accused it is likely those folks did more than make mistakes or blunders. is ok to admit that oct 7 was pretty f'ing terrible and that if multiple unrwa employees were somehow involved... you folks do realize that if you admit the situation looks absolute fubar for the UN, it doesn't mean you need sudden support israel, right? when a similar situation arises and is handful o' bad israelis, US intelligence agents or new england patriots fans, are you gonna rush to defend? is a not zero chance some will recall and remind. HA! Good Fun!

  13. So Larian is Madonna and Black Isle was Whitney Houston? That analogy works for me! edit: Bioware is clearly Bobby Brown.

  14. No, what I'm saying is that net profit and not net sales/revenue is what matters. For example: Game A) 12X revenue, 10X cost Game B) 4X revenue, X cost Which game is the better deal for the developer? But even if you had: Game A) 20X revenue, 10X cost Game B) 2X revenue, 1X cost Does this mean every developer must only make Game A and never Game B?

  15. I mean, if it's a chain restaurant, and he didn't enjoy one chain, it's safe to say he isn't going to enjoy another. If you didn't enjoy the Divinity games, it's safe to say BG3 isn't going to change your mind.

  17. I think the more realistic take is that if Avowed does well then you get Avowed 2, if it does badly it's proof that the setting is bad and you don't get any more Pillars games at all. I really don't know how BG3 will effect the possibilities for other RPGs. Larian is in a near unique situation with its own very distinct style and prior success/ fanbase based largely on MP and intrinsic hype due to the D&D/ Baldur's Gate names. Obsidian can replicate some of those, but PoE3 wouldn't have a fraction of the hype that the Baldur's Gate name generated, and a lot lot less than Divinity/ Original Sin. You'd probably need an 'isometric' Fallout to replicate that hype.

  18. Dispersed Suffering from Frostfall also target will, and against skellies it is the surest way to increase hostile effects on him (6 skellies + thunderous report with frostfall equipped mean potentially 6*20% of the effect on enemies, + many lives skellies sacrified for the cause during the fight with a frostfall set).

  19. Not relevant anymore, I've made a mod to display all of this info directly in-game.

  20. When you look at the achievements labels in Grounded you realize the badges are created with a etched design as though they are meant to be boy scout/girl scout badges. I thought it would be a great idea to add a optional satchel to your character to show off the achievements you have accomplished. By completing all achievements the satchel would turn gold or have some sort of visual effect that would show that you completed all the of the achievements. This gives people a reason to complete achievements while also adding a very much asked for addition, customization options.

  21. You set your character background at character creation, but there's also the first conversation with Callisca. What you say ends up in your biography. Some people in the game will react to this - I'm not going to list those in this thread. Some backgrounds hide professions you wouldn't expect there. Now you can choose something you like the most without restarting. Maybe I should update the wiki. Aristocrat (all except The Living Lands) Artist (Old Valia) Clergyman (Aedyr) Colonist (Aedyr, Old Valia, The Living Lands) Dissident (Aedyr, Ixamitl Plains, Old Valia, Rauatai) Drifter (All) Explorer (Deadfire Archipelago, The Living Lands, The White That Wends) Hunter (All) Laborer (All) Mercenary (all but The White That Wends) Merchant (All) Mystic (The White That Wends) Philosopher (Ixamitl Plains) Raider (Deadfire Archipelago) Scholar (Ixamitl Plains, Rauatai) Scientist (The Living Lands) Slave (Aedyr, Deadfire Archipelago, Old Valia, Rauatai)

  22. Really tired of this line of thought, Ukraine is not NATO so it's a case of dealing with NATO supplied weapons versus dealing with NATO troops. Invading a part of Finland seems a pretty high risk test as they have to hope NATO decides driving them out is enough as opposed to wrecking tonnes of stuff. Assuming Finland alone can't stop them anyway. But any alarmism is justified if we can use the invasion. Good luck doing that for conscription as I see some articles talking about (conveniently by guys who won't serve). Just a lot of conditions need to occur for this to take place. Well that and some assume this is some game where Russia takes Ukraine fully and that's not going to hamper them in future.

  23. It's strange, but I'm 100% sure that with the current beta patch, the loot from Raedric's castle has changed. I no longer get the manipulation gloves; I always used to get them by day 4. Now, the 'famous loot table' that's floating around is completely off. I don't like having to intentionally sleep to get the gloves; I simply knew that by day 4 or 5, I'd get these gloves. Then I'd go to the castle when that day was near and arrive (with the journey) just in time to get them, so I didn't have to resort to the sleeping trick, which feels like cheating to me. Now, I don't know which day the gloves appear. And not only that, I no longer receive the ring and the piglet pet with a new game. Before, I would receive them, but now they don't appear in my inventory. That ring used to be sold in the caravan; the vendor there pays the best in the entire game. I used to leave the initial map with almost 2000 money, but that has also changed.

  24. The Deus Ex game was in pre-production for two years so it was more of a decision not to proceed, at this point (since that would require extra staff and Embracer simply cannot afford them).
