So. Much. Moving. I miss the days in college where I could pack all of my belongings into a compact car. Getting married and having kids comes with a lot of baggage. That being said, the new house is great. My fridge communicates with me now and can tell me when the kids leave the door open too long. I'm exhausted.4 points

have mentioned previous that the lion in winter is our favorite christmas movie. the film's intimate depiction o' sometimes strangers and loved ones exploring those ineffable familial bonds during the holidays is so similar to our childhood christmas memories that we cannot help but feel a shiver o' pure nostalgia when we rewatch. good times. good times. the soundtrack is also one o' john barry's best efforts, so festive, yes? have also mentioned previous am surprised that as we age, we increasing like barry's on her majesty's secret service. keeps going up our list o' favorite bond themes. HA! Good Fun!2 points

Did the MCM London Comic-Con this weekend. Originally with everything going on I didn't think I'd be able to attend, so I didn't volunteer to be a steward. Then last week everything clicked and I realised I could attend Friday and Saturday. Turned up, and was like "Wow, first time in 5 years as a tourist. What do I actually do?", felt weirdly on edge during the Friday. Checked in with the folks I know where I normally steward, catching up and all that with folks. They also had the WCS early rounds starting up (one of the World Cosplay championships), and Emma (the person who runs all of the Cosplay slice of things) saw me and did a "Can you help out tomorrow?" due to all the chaos. I agreed, and ended up doing 10am till some point after 7pm as an off the books steward over the course of Saturday (which I had already paid for a general ticket) Got invited to look into becoming actual Crew for future Cons. So we'll have to see about that. Now had that blah Monday back at work and a bout of the con-crud had me napping earlier.2 points

That's not what I meant, and definitely didn't want to apply that Larian isn't putting a lot of effort and new stuff into each release. BG3 is bigger, larger, more sprawling and better, than D:OS2. But it was building on and itirating on designs and concepts made in D:OS1&2. I am not sure how far can Larian push the same design forward in speculative BG4. And as I don't think Larian is a narratively driven studio, I don't think "new adventure using same systems" is something they would find worth pursuing.2 points

The tension rises as never before, not only in Ukraine... Israel fights Hamas. The Myanmar junta collapses across northern Shan state. The RSF is attacking with the help of Wagnerites in Sudan. Eastern Syria is ready to explode. Tuareg rebels take more ground in northern Mali, the GNU & LNA are moving in Libya. Then there is conquest of Nagorno-Karabakh, one new separatist group in Ethiopia after another, and there is rumoured military buildup on the Venezuela-Guyana border. And of course Yemen... Have I forgotten something? When was the last time, when there were so many conflicts around the globe at the same time? This will not end well, if Europe will hesitate to prepare better for the possible war, which Russia started on our soil by spreading disinformation as a part of their Hybrid Warfare against the Europe more than a decade ago...1 point

I would hazard a guess it's more "people who elected terrorists and openly celebrate their carnage" issue than "brown people with funny religions". Because fellow "brown people with funny religions" of Egypt keep their border with Gaza closed too for some reason...1 point

Heh, I don't actually know. Part of the reason I was grabbed was to handle a bunch of the cosplay stuff at the other side of the Con to enable the Cosplay crew and staff to focus on the WCS part. I was actually helping out with some leatherworking workshops before the shibari tutorial during the WCS events. Then after, everyone was just crashing for the end of the day rather than talking about it. I did want to see Tabitha Lions (ArtyFakes) rush build she'd done as a challenge. Produce a WCS entrance Cosplay in under a month.1 point

I have entered the post game content of the Star Ocean 5 for teh first time in current playthrough. The funny thing is, that you can unlock it, without beating the final boss all you need to do is to reach the last savepoint before final battle, and you automatically get into chapter 13 and unlock the post-game content. This allowed me to go little bit further with the equipment craftng for the trophy, as I was able to get some of the impossible to get items from the Ex Dungeon. I am over level 100 already, but I feel how much harder the game is on Universe difficulty compared to Galaxy. We’ll see how far I will be able to go into the Maze.1 point

I definitely agree about the pause and inventory management, and I'd say that besides the lack of a day/night system those are my biggest complaints about the game. But WotC routinely changes the lore in a way that doesn't work well with previous dnd things so I'm not particularly bothered by Larian doing it here (it also doesn't help that Forgotten Realms kinda sucks). The final choice in BG3 is mostly bad for some spoiler reasons, but the TL;DR is that it's not that much different than the big choice in BG2.1 point

love to see MTG concepts here you know, originally i had this issue with conjuration, but i think in practice you just play them out differently. summoned weapons all have reach or ranged, so the illusion magic is less critical (and you still get arcane veil for emergencies, though i'd rather just slicken or pull). i like illusion magic for non-reach martial/glass cannon builds. yeah, the PL bonus is kinda squandered on a lot of conjuration spells, and there is a rough anti-self-synergy where you can't benefit from familiars and also actually use some of your conjuration spells (i wish familiars were "free" summons). IME conjuration school is more about what schools you get overall, with a slight boost from your familiar - you retain access to spells like swift, slicken, walls, combusting wounds, pull of eora. i think the guaranteed at least +1 PL from your familiar across the board gives it an edge over a generic wizard if you have a specific "flavor" or "theme" that's in those schools. put another way, transmuter would be better at some really impactful spells, but you end up dropping enchantment, and swift is so good for a martially-oriented caster that i would never. enchantment gets you access to a lot of useful evocation spells, but you drop transmutation, so it's quite a trade-off. it's basically this level of back-and-forth that means i frequently end up liking conjurer anyway for certain caster builds, warts and all. though fassina's character really annoys me because her loremaster setup invests in summons for the first skill point, which--at least without a mod--you can't get rid of. just really excacerbates the anti-synergy of relying on your familiar.1 point

I don't why it would be moot. Game might sell, but it is still ****. If anything high sales would reinforce the narrative of BG3 shortcomings. Why it is impossible for a good game to sell well, it is also rather uncommon. While that is a conclusion a publisher might take, and they would totally rush a half-baked BG4 to cash in (like Dragon Age2, after DA1), I am not sure if Larian would take that route. Before that making BG3 might have been an odd choice, instead of making D:OS2. And D&D and BG IP definitely brought attention to the project, I am doubtful that people who enjoyed the game, enjoyed it because it was D&D and Forgotten Realms. If Larian were to make another super RPG (which according to Sven isn't going to happen) and would once again reuse D:OS2/BG3 formula one could argue that they should move to new IP to keeps things fresh. Sins are harder to forget 2nd time around, and I am sure all the new players that came to Larian would be less forgiving if they played the same game, with the same faults for a 2nd time. The only take away I would make, is that cRPG can have mass appeal, if they have enough budget behind them. But thats nothing I didn't knew about, and I still doubt it is good enough return for money for other publishers go into this direction. edit. I am being, of course, overly negative. BG3 is ok. Combat is passable, narrative is passable until late 3rd act. Visuals are impressive considering the scale, but lack in artistic intent and consistency. It's good enough time to warrant a playthrough, and a really good value for money. Your usual "good" AAA, a lot of flash, little substance: 3/51 point

I too have only ever seen one in person in the wild, and it was such a momentous occasion to me that I called all my coworkers outside to see it. One guy got too close and it flew at him chasing him a few parking spots.1 point

Looks like the perpetrator of the attack on the Finnish-Estonian gas pipepline has been identified... https://apnews.com/article/finland-estonia-china-vessel-baltic-sea-gas-pipeline-39334c9c565753c7e189c6efc302e43e "Anchor of Chinese container vessel caused damage to Balticconnector gas pipeline, Finnish police say"1 point

@Noqn thank you for answering my questions. Right-Clicking top most row of Abilities and Attacks displays only DataScriptEventComponent. Yes that was what I was looking for and it also add components which answers the first question. Exactly what I needed. I turned Wizard base subclasses into a selectable ability and this is the result: Base subclasses have 1 specialized and 2 opposed schools. You can mix and match specialized and opposed schools with this new system. First 5 greyed iconed ability are added as unlike attributes, you cannot spend less than the available points. The system functions using a single category, only if you do not pick 3 of the same school such as Conjuration, Specialized Conjuration and Opposed Conjuration. This is the reason for the need of additional categories. I am planning to do the same with Paladins and Priests, replace their base subclasses with more unique variants. Since I will be replacing subclasses with abilities (instead of a different subclass) for example Enchanter subclass with an ability, I assume I need the modify the following? Specifically Parameters = conditional.Data("hasAbility(this,"Specialized_Enchanter")? result = conditional with { Data = conditional.Data with { Parameters = conditional.Data.Parameters.SetItem(1, pair[1]) } }; Sorry, I am not that familiar with scripting and the lack of auto-completes. Is there any documentation that I can reference to? That answered my question. I made a subclass that adds new and modifies existing abilities. Since modifying abilities cannot be done through BaseProgressionTableAppend as well, there is no way to make it compatible with other mods without making patches. Thanks again for your help.1 point

I've actually started to take the train with my bike, which cuts it down to 10 miles each way, so that's been great. I am moving further down the tracks, but it won't change my commute time by much.1 point

We bought a house. Well, a townhome, but it's pretty nice. We have been renting for about 15 years, so it is a big deal. We just cleared to close, so sometime next week we will get the keys and start moving.1 point

Cool ideas, I was thinking the same thing with the butterfly, maybe makes a tier III armor that has a gliding set bonus so you wont need a dandelion tuff, and make it a ranged armor set. And to add more to your post, I was thinking about a Dragonfly boss. I haven’t thought about what it would drop, maybe close to what the butterfly set would be but better, could also introduce tier IV stuff with it. And also upgraded bandages with the Aloe Vera in the sandbox that have sizzle protection, I still don’t understand why that’s not already a thing.1 point

I haven't seen that film yet and nor was I aware of its existence until just now, but I'd like to make note here that this is an extremely rare example of a trailer that I liked and actually convinced me to watch the film it was showing. I'm pretty sure I described Fargo as being a "cute, feel-good film" when I watched it for the first time like a year ago, and that really wasn't a joke. Let's see... Well...close enough, .0 points
