  2. Funny part is, if 'west' wanted to ever invade Russia, there were plenty of good opportunities after soviet collapse, why it waited until Ukraine found gas deposits is baffling...

  3. I took my wife and daughter to see Beetlejuice at the Golden Gate Theater in San Francisco. It was fantastic. Then we went to a tapas restaurant in the back of a pawn shop. My daughter had to pawn her personal tajin shaker to get us in the door. It was a pretty great day in the city.

  4. Vertical Half Walls would be a great addition and is a no brainer in my opinion. It would help so much for building.

  5. I just got back from Christmas vacation down in southern Florida. I'm too lazy to cook and I'm not going back on the diet right away so I'm eating a Margherita pizza from Simonetti's and drinking beer.

  7. I did read through 6th edition if I remember correctly, I have read through all the Fantasy Flight pen and paper rule books though None of the campaign books though. But GW killed off that partnership ofcourse, because it was good stuff. As a fan of "if the emperor had a text to speech device" (If you don't know of it, you should look it up, it's... *Chefs kiss* Amazing) and other Warhammer fan works, I am legally obliged to say that GW sucks major ass. Easilly the equal of Disney and Take-Two in their dickishness. Heh, they're worse than Dark Angels, and that's saying alot One thing I really love using Alpha Legion for was as final adversaries in campaigns for Dark Heresy, they fit it to a T with building their cults. Well, White Scars wouldn't deploy heavy support squads either lorewise, gotta go fast! And skimmers, bikes and assault vehicles are too damn fragile nowadays for them to be worth the points

  8. @Fionavar @SChin, and whoever else it may concern. Yeah, no, it is reproducable, but it behaves so seemingly random that it is hard to figure out what the actual cause could be. Certain sets of words in quotations, irrespective of which quotation marks are used (both regular quotation marks and apostrophes break it), cause the post function to go on the fritz, but even then not always, it also has something to do with the words following a quotation. See, for instance, thanks to @Bartimaeus, this one does not go through: However, this does: My words were "complete stylistic clone of Dark" POST BREAKS HERE. It is also possible to post this: "1234 1234 123" "robert downey junior" "holy holy man" But not this: Which is apparently caused by beginning the quote with the word more and following it with a space: This one very reliably kills any and all posts it is put in, apparently irrespective of where it is placed in the text. So, yes, with more being a common keyword in command interpreters, this points more and more to overzealous input validation, or a security issue.

  9. I have a 6th or 7th edition set of rulebooks lying around, that I've never read. Last version I knew (and played, even if only twice) was 3rd edition, and that was so horrible that my gaming group dropped 40k like a hot potato at the time. Since then, I stopped playing 40k and just played Warhammer Fantasy for a number of years afterwards. Right up until GW killed off Warhammer fantasy, which was a sad day As for 3D printing, caution is advised. GW's lawyers are as bad, if not worse than Disney's lawyers, regularly scouring the internet. I have a bunch of generic scifi landscape bits and a few custom space marine compatible hands printed (one fist showing the middle finger at the enemy and one fist wielding a coffee cup, because I just thought it was just too hilarious) Stealing troops is the wrong word. What Alpha Legion does is infiltrate other legions, letting their own men act as if they were part of those legions, getting training, gear etc. Like a cuckoo (then returning "home" when the legion calls) It's quite telling, that in the chart of compatible allied units, they stand out as the one legion with no close friends (being a legion of spies, sneaks, assassins and saboteurs) They are known to make use of normal humans to infiltrate human societies and found cults that worship whatever the legion pretends to be. stirring up social unrest and causing entire societies and cultures to collapse without a single legionnaire ever setting foot on the planet. Fight smarter, not harder. There is no such thing as a "Devastator Squad" in Horus Heresy, but they have a close equivalent in Heavy Support squads, which can have 5-10 marines with a particular heavy weapon (say 10 lascannons or 10 heavy plasma cannons etc.). But White Scars don't really want that many guys on foot in the first place. They are all about skimmers, bikes and assault vehicles.

  11. Image reply because the forums will not let me post it as text for some reason without breaking: Have fun figuring this one out, @majestic. The apostrophes in the first sentence were originally quotation marks, and the brackets in the second sentence were originally parentheses, but it still doesn't post even after changing them.

  12. Thanks for mentioning it. I'll be resuming my pt soon and I think I'm close to that part. My next quest is to follow the beggar's advice and invade a certain tower in the abyss. Edit: @Sarex I suggest you have one of your spontaneous casters learn Dimension Door to make things easier in act 4. But it is not really necessary.

  14. Technically you'd need two of each main gun, and each of the carapace weapons, so you'd end up at 3700$ You can't know if you might want to use twinlinked Volcano cannons or twin linked Plasma Annihilators Not to mention the laser blasters or apocalypse missile pods! In Swedish crowns? About 2 months wages XD Sure, well they'd need the speed since as far as I know they don't field any devastators. Worst part though is that vehicles are ****ed in 9th edition from what I can tell. Bolters can take out a friggin Baneblade, I mean c'mon! Pfft, stealing my troops? Careful that I don't go full Creed on you and infiltrate a Warlord titan behind that inconspicous pile of rubble on your flank XD I'm pretty certain that GW would come down on you hard with accusations of child molestation for that. https://spikeybits.com/2021/05/games-workshop-opens-the-war-against-3d-artists.html

  15. Nah, glass cannon always and forever in every game. If everything you attack immediately dies, there's less opportunity for you to get hit in the first place and also you mow through the game much faster to boot, . Many years ago, I intended to play through the Dooms, but at this point, I'd be lucky if I ever make it through just the original. Signalis (2022). Genre-wise, it's basically the same as one of my favorite games Yuppie Psycho (2D isometric atmospheric horror exploration), but you play as a Soviet Russian lady android technician that crash landed on a colonized frozen planet where some kind of virus has apparently driven most of the other androids to a zombie-like state, and you need to find your counterpart that you arrived with, your human pilot. I've played a few hours of it and have quite enjoyed it and its many little details, but I don't have a good grasp for where the story is going yet.

  17. You naughty So the most important thing is to just play the game how you want. I won't make fun of you for playing on a low difficulty, because iirc even the developers play on easy mode rather than face the monster they created. Playing vanilla Unfair is pretty much only for sadomasochists, getting wiped out by ranged attackers who hit like a truck isn't fun for most people. As to the build, to start with I'd have knocked down Charisma to 19 and put the remaining points into Constitution and either Dexterity or Wisdom, or maybe take a hit in either Intelligence, Dexterity, or Wisdom to grab 16 Strength. You get an odd number of attribute increases so in the long run it makes more sense to take a small hit for your main attribute at first and go for more well rounded base stats. Heavy Armor builds don't really have a lot of support in the vanilla game, they will fall behind the unarmored monk dip tanks or animal companions in Ac and the speed malus hurts. Also, if you go mounted you first use the mount's AC, so your heavy armor bonus doesn't contribute to tankiness. To add a bit of insult, imo the unique Heavy Armor options are pretty underwhelming. The big problem with the Paladin is that it is one of two martial classes without access to Bonus Feats. This means Human is a great choice for that bonus feat (and the extra skill I guess), and that you don't want to take builds that are feat starved (no exotic weapons or twf). In general I'd say that Improved Initiative (especially in Turn-Based, so much that i'd rate it as near essential) and your Weapon Focus/Improved Critical are good choices. If you're going mounted there are a few options you'll want to pick up to help out your mount (if you have ranks in mobility?), and the Teamwork feats are always a good choice for melee. And if you have ranks in Persuasion I'd reccomend Dazzling Display and Dreadful Carnage, as demoralization is really good. Longsword isn't as good as scimitar or rapier in terms of base stats, but there are a lot of great longswords in the game so they're a solid choice. I believe there are enough so that if you take Seelah and a sekrit companion* you'll still have some good uniques to spare. In general the weapon or armor enhancement bonus can be buffed by magic weapon (greater) andmagical vestments (?), so don't pay as much attention to the enhancement bonus as to weapon properties and unique abilities. The big exception is weapons with a DC effect, you can count on those being worse than they sound. But really, I'd just play the game in a way that you enjoy. It's a game, it's supposed to be fun. If you want to be miserable just watch NuTrek or Sailor Moon Crystal. *

  18. Hi! For both spells the duration will not change (it is determined when you cast the spell). Relentless Storm is a pulsing spell while Insect Plage is a Damage over Time (DoT) spell that has so called "ticks"- both behave differently: Relentless Storm when you lose the bonus PL: the pulses of the storm all do individual attack rolls vs. the enemies' defense, so they will lose ACC and damage bonus from the lost PLs immediately. If you regain the bonus PL (for example ending the Spiritshift) they will regain the bonus damage and accuracy. Insect Plage when you lose the bonus PL: the ticks will lose the bonus damage. But since the spell only does one attack roll at casting time and then applies the "status effect: damage over time" the loss of the PL bonus will have no effect on the accuracy. If you regan the PLs the damage per tick will go up again. Tl;dr: Relentless Storm will lose daamage & accuracy per pulse, Insect Plague will only lose damage per tick. Spells that only do one attack roll at casting time and then apply a CC effect with a duration (see Nature's Mark or Sunbeam for example) will not suffer from the PL loss at all.

  19. Escaflowne...the movie, again. Last time I watched this, it was fresh off of having watched the show. I thought I'd try again, now having put a significant amount of time in between. Nope: with the exception of maybe two sequences, it's difficult not to feel like practically everything in this film is either lame, rushed, or botched in some manner. The two sequences that are alright are when Hitomi meets Merle in the stable and we have two characters talk like actual human beings for the first time in the film, and then when Hitomi and Van go to the tavern and talk about the cat sisters and the ancient song...and the latter one really only works if you remember the poor cat sisters from the show. Besides that, this movie's a big fat lotta nothing. O.K., I will also give a pass to Van very offhandedly carving a rock mouse for Merle as well as Merle singing with the other cat children, but that's it.
