Woah Sony is not holding back at all. PlayStation Experience 2016  so far has been quite fap worthy.

It was great. Yakuza 0, Yakuza Kiwami, Nioh, Persona 5, Ni No Kuni 2, Tales of Berseria and more all in 2017. it'll be a crazy (good) year.

If Nioh delivers i won't even need anything else for months. edit: maybe even until RDR 2 arrives   :ninja:

"It was tough because we learned a lesson that there was no way to really know ahead of time, because who had created a trilogy spanning story with choices that mattered throughout it? Nobody. And so we were the first. As much as some people say they loved the ending, we also know that it wasn't what some people were looking for. We misstepped there,"

I'm glad they're taking a break. They released four games (three if we don't count Scholar of the First Sin) in the span of two years, and we're going to get another Dark Souls III DLC in early 2017. Time to take a little longer and release a new concept.

Remember Mechwarrior online?

Seems they didn't completely kill off the franchise.

This youtube comment is pretty spot on:

Well, the 3 games they're working on right now apparently aren't far enough to be shown to public. One of them is Armored Core though. Not really something the west is interested in.

MWO was pretty good actually. very fun to play with friends, because the maps were rather large, with numerous customization options for your mechs, and almost no pay-to-win bullcrap. I'd be all over it if it had more content, but it wasn't progressing fast enough for me.

Yes I want a mechwarrior game. Got 5 mins into the mechwarrior online tutorial mission and realised it was ****. Let's have a strong single player campaign this time.

If you didn't even get out of the tutorial before deciding it's ****, then I don't know what having a SP campaign would change for you.

I'm like a fine wine taster after all these years. I only need to gargle a game for a few seconds and spit it back out to tell if it's any good.

Man, everybody knows, that you have to invest hundreds hours of gameplay, to be able to have valid oppinion, if the game is **** or not! Now go back to the tutorial campaign and don't come back, before you replay it for 10,000th time!

wine tasters with more expertise tend to take more time than does the n00b.  the practiced wine taster realizes a fine vintage will often bloom on the palate whereas the weekend wine aficionado who hits a half dozen napa wineries on a weekend will gargle and spit... or maybe not spit.

regardless, is not analogous.  saw the opening credits o' a movie and realized it weren't your thing 'cause you is a seasoned film critic?

yeah, am baffled by the folks who claim you need play an entire game before judging.  is asinine to invest hours, or dozens of hours, into a pursuit one is clear not enjoying.  that being said, tutorials is often providing near 0 useful gameplay from which to judge a game. many good games with rudimentary or terrible tutorials.

'course if issues is controls and interface, then tutorial is likely more than enough from which to judge.

regardless, a real wine-taster would gargle and spit 'pon gorgon for his temerity.

HA! Good Fun!

More along the lines of "If the core gameplay isn't compelling, what difference would adding a story campaign make, or why do you even want to play a mech game?"

It's more about investing too little time into games you wish to try and then proclaiming you dislike them is a bit of a self-fulfilling prophecy. Of course you won't like them when you say you do just to prove yourself right, but with just so little time invested into a game, chances are you'll dislike it just because you've had a hangover or any number of other completely unrelated reasons.

At the end of the day tho, if your definition of a good game is "If it doesn't grab me during first 10 minutes, it's worthless." then why not, after all there's an entire market built around such an approach.

To be honest, I really can't imagine why they couldn't just add a basic ai to MWO and add some kind of offline- / coop-mode. Throw in some tanks that are more or less static anyway and done. If we look back at the old MW3/MW4 missions, it really wasn't something super special. Go here, kill that, go there, escort something, etc. They really could have done the same with the MWO engine, I am sure.

Hell, just sell it as "offline addon mission pack" or whatever, instead of these stupid hero / gold mechs. Would have made people happy and they get some more money out of it.

5 or 10 minutes might be too short of a time, I guess it varies from person to person and game to game.  That said, if a game can't motivate someone to play it within an hour, hour and a half at most, I consider that game a failure.  I don't have the time, nor the patience, to waste 5 hours on a game in hopes that it gets better eventually, I suspect I'm not the only one that feels that way.

Never had a game put me off in 5 mins since SoF2. If it can do that I probably could have been put off by previews :p

Usually I will sink a couple of hours into a game if I start it. Gives enough ammo to bash it in the worst case
