@ComradeYellowYou’re in a desert walking along in the sand when all of the sudden you look down, and you see a tortoise, it’s crawling toward you. You reach down, you flip the tortoise over on its back. The tortoise lays on its back, its belly baking in the hot sun, beating its legs trying to turn itself over, but it can’t, not without your help. But you’re not helping. Why is that?

Because I, too, am a tortoise.

Right? RIGHT?

can someone translate this to me please?

Sure.  Since 1945 the American government and their European lacky's have been pro actively arming far right groups across the USSR to beat the Soviets back.  1945-1953 was the peak period of this especially in Ukraine. This current war is just a modern example of prior post war conduct by the U.S.A.

It's not really complicated.  A grade schooler could spell it out for you.  People just don't wanna listen to both sides of the story.  The Soviets weren't perfect by any stretch but all parties are guilty of bad conduct.

still don't know who is bound to defeat. anyway, are you saying that America and England which fought WW2 against nazis were since end of WW2 proactively funding nazis? Or is anyone who wanted national suverenity 'far right wing'? Was Prague spring 'far right wing' action?

America was funding nazis even before and during ww2, not to mention the ones they welcomed after. It's all about interest.

They've also demonstrably funded so called 'islamofascists' whenever it was convenient, then been surprised at the consequences. Most of the School of the Americas militias get described as 'right wing' instead of nazis, but that's mostly because the west doesn't want to associate with the term nazis, not because their ideology was different.

Yes, but in essence it told US to pound sand and not to try threaten sanctions

I am always amused when people read diplomat speak. It's specifically designed so that people can interpret it to support whatever view they have.

Chinese FM: "We told the US that it's a big doody head, they dress funny and their mother told me they have a very small winky when I was over last night. Please, bring on the sanctions you pathetic bag of suet"

is something that will never be said, even if it were thought.

I guess it depends on how much they are being wooed to join NATO.  But now, well, I guess they are being used a bit - who made the joke about the US fighting to the last Ukrainian ?

Me. "Fight militarily to the last Ukrainian, fight economically to the last Euro".

But then Sergei Lavrov stole it, the plagiarist. Who would have thought he read these forums?

EDIT: Unfortunatelly there are also more worrysome news from Mariupol

The whole situation in Mariupol is way worse than the Ukrainians claim. It's the one place where there's a lot of pro Russian footage due to the DPR troops, and their videos have been getting geolocated closer and closer to the city centre from the east. That hospital is also well behind the 'official' Ukrainian front lines on the western side. The defenders have also attempted a break out two days ago where they claimed to have retaken Volnovakha (though that claim wasn't even accepted by pro Ukrainians)

America was 'funding' everyone before WW2 including soviets. What do you mean by 'welcomed after' is again something I totally don't understand

lol, that was taking scientists to work for US yeah, they were not funding them because they were nazis, or to promote nazism. Thats crucial point. Anyway you didn't responded to any question I asked you so I think our conversation can be closed

Sarex already beat me with operation paperclip, but there's also everything from supporting dictators and coups like Pinochet to police being infiltrated by white supremacists to congressmen going to white nationalist conferences. One way or another, the US does kick a lot of money to reactionaries.

nb4 these aren't real nazis but sparkling white supremacists

It would not have been fine, as I think it's quite apparent now that Russia cannot - nor does it want to, or ever wanted in the first place - play nice with its neighbours. And judging by recent "NATO or no NATO" polls, Finland have not yet forgotten Talvisota as well.

On slightly more bittersweet news, here's the ballsiest woman of Russia. Fingers crossed KGB filth do not disappear her.

It looks like she was charged for hooliganism and only fined

Clearly their was too much international attention on her arrest, the UN human rights commission even  got involved. Good to know the Ruskies didnt want to martyr her and draw more negative attention to the train wreck of Putins War

No. The only US started pumping money (and equipment) into the Soviet Union when it became useful to do so to keep the Germans bleeding out in the East. In fact, one of the main reasons why Roosevelt attempted to restore diplomatic relations with the USSR pre-war was so the latter would resume Tsarist-era debt payments to the US. Another was to have the Soviets act as a sort of counterweight to Japan in the Pacific.

"realism v. liberalism"

LOL, you guys do understand that the word "liberalism" when used in academic (i.e. political science/international relations) discussions is completely different from that same word used in US domestic politics, right? In other words: liberal/realist, versus liberal/conservative, where those two "liberals" do not at all mean the same thing.
