  1. I just installed Grounded, and am unable to launch the game. After clicking Play in Steam, I get a black screen with the attached error, and then it crashes back to Steam. I have verfied files, I have uninstalled and reinstalled. I have updated my graphics drivers. I have put "-d3d11" in the launch options in Steam. None of that seems to help. I am running Windows 10. I have 32 MB of RAM and an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 graphics card. I appreciate any help you can give me! Thanks!
  2. Multiplayer, Shared world. My Friend (Xbox) and me (PC): We have just lost all our lvl 9 armor (Helm, Harness, Legwraps) and shields. Particularly, i have lost Left Elf Charm and last weapon i have equipped: Pinch Whacker. Game crashed when we were killed by mantis. When we re-entered the game, we spawned on the bed without armor and equipment. Before dying, we had free slots in our backpack; We have setted: Auto-save Interval 10 min and 5 auto-saves. My friend, who is the host of the world on xbox, could select only one save (Corresponding to our death). We still have other weapons and stuff we had in our backpack that were not equipped. No problem with the armor, we re-upgraded them all over again, but what can i do with the Pinch Whacker and Left Elf Charm? Lost forever?
  3. PC, Steam Single-player (tried both offline and online modes) When I try to start a New Game, the application crashes on the loading screen after naming the yard world. Steps to reproduce:
  4. 3 times in a row now when I investigate the Old Battleground on the south-western part of the Isle of Tikawara (after shocking the creature away from the southern-most event) I get a crash. I saved after shocking the creature, loaded, and investigated the Old Battleground again and didn't get a crash. Could also have been a fluke that I didn't crash cus of that. 2018-05-18_175348.zip
  5. Hey, so I've been playing with my friends online and they live across the world from me. Usually this isn't a big issue when it comes to playing online games, but we've started to get a lot of lag and crash issues with standard worlds and the shared worlds no matter who hosts it. At this point, it's unplayable for us, so I was just hoping that someone would know how to fix this issue or if there will ever be a fix for this issue? We were hoping the shared worlds might fix something when it came out, but I think it just made it worse. Thanks
  6. okay so i got this game recently and have so far spend 100 minutes trying to make this game run. i used to have it on the gamepass version and there it worked all fine tho the steam version keeps crashing after like 2 minutes or 20 minutes of playing. i tried to turn down graphic settings, keep everything updated, reinstalled the driver, run it on directx 11 and so on. what can i still do to make this game somehow work because it seems really odd for the gamepass version to work all fine but the steam version being so unstable for me
  7. Hi, I acquired Pillars of Eternity recently through EPIC GAMES, and the game works fine, until I open the map. I can create the character, play a little, however, when I open the map the game crashes. Its not aways, but its frequently. The fartest I have gone in the game is in the following map just right after Calisca dies. I can open the map with no problems right at the start of the following map, but if I explore a little and open it, the game crashes. I have been searching a fix for it, updating drivers, making the game run as administrator, disabling fullscreen optimizations, changing resolutions, setting the affinity via task manager (specifying the number of cores and threads), reinstalling it, launching the game without Epic Games Laucher, repair it, etc. Here is a save-file (I hope I got the right one, its just after I trigger the event with the waterskin in the beginning), if I load it, and open the map, the game crashes with a unity error every time. Hopefully its something simple, heard a lot of good stuff about this game.   8. CONSTANT RANDOM CRASHES -- An Unplayable Game Hello Obsidian. I am revising this post because the "bug" I originally wrote about is much, much worse than I originally thought. I am getting constant random crashes. They occur 100% of the time. They make the game completely unplayable. If the opening PoE1 recap isn't skipped, the game will freeze/crash before the introduction cinematic (narrated by Eder) can play. If I skip the recap, the intro movie plays (Deadfire has not yet crashed mid-intro) and the first area--the In Between--loads and the game appears playable and stable. However it will always freeze/crash before the Watcher/Soul character makes it all the way to the Adra Pillar at the far right of the screen. Often the audio will cut-out, or seem to, a few moments prior to the freeze/crash. Exactly one time an audio line played to the end after the game froze, however. I have attempted everything I can possibly do on my end to diagnose and/or workaround the problem, including but not limited to: Windows compatibility mode (Win7, Win8, even WinXP) settings. Administrator privileges off/on. Countless possible Deadfire configurations--windowed, fullscreen, every quality preset, every available resolution, multiple vfx enabled/disabled combination. The gamut. Steam did, of course, verify the integrity of the game cache. I also redownloaded the game, multiple times, after manually purging it from my system (not a fun thing to do when you suffer from bandwidth caps) Oh, and I've also tried running the game off of an SSD, off an HDD, from the default Steam install directory and from a unique Steam install directory. I was able to get the game to run off of an old laptop, with an integrated GPU, albeit very poorly (10fps are far from optimal; combat is impossible) that doesn't even come close to the minimum recommended specs... but it doesn't crash. Using Steam cloud saves to load saves from the laptop to my PC (in the starting island, the world map and inside the cave) and... you guessed it, Deadfire still crashes on me, usually a few seconds after loading up the area. Sometimes I have time to move my party, but the game usually crashes before anyone can make a it a half-dozen steps. To be perfectly honest, I've been a PC gamer for a very long time and I haven't had this much trouble with a game since I bought a copy of Daikatana out a bargain bin for $0.99, and that game was quickly re-purposed into a Frisbee. My PC specs are as follows: 3.55ghz quad-core i5 CPU 16gb memory 2gb HD6870 GPU Windows 10 x64 (Note that this is a PC that ran Pillars of Eternity perfectly. And also note, as I've proved, that Deadfire is capable of running on a toaster.) My working theory is that this may be a compatibility problem between whichever version of Unity Deadfire is using and my GPU drivers, but only because ATI drivers are typically the cause of my headaches (whenever I upgrade, I'm going nVidia and never touching ATI again). But at the same time, the game does load and appear to render properly, so I have no idea. No ideas, just lots of frustration. I will request moderators lock/delete the original thread. .... EDIT1 I am experiencing greatly improved stability after patch 1.02. I can now play the game for 20 minutes--sometimes longer--before seeing a crash! And, now, when the game crashes a window pops up informing me of the creation of the output log, which is handy. Every time I try to pick up the water skin in the intro scene my game crashes and drops me in the desktop, corrupting the save file that was used to try to pick up the water skin. any assistance would be awesome as I was looking forward to playing the game. I have tried two different new games so far to see if it was a one time thing and I lowered my frames to 30 to see if it was my computer.   10. I've been playing for a few days. At first everything was very smooth. Then game started to lag, and now starting late yesterday, it shuts my computer off out of the blue. Just bam - no power. It sounds like a similar issue from the first game: https://forums.obsidian.net/topic/72006-shuts-down-computer/page-1 It doesn't seem to be an overheating issue - it recently shut the computer down as soon as I loaded the game; other times I can play for a couple of hours or more. Forum isn't letting me upload the save game file, but I'm attaching the output log and specs. Editing to add: Now it's doing it as soon as I load the game and click on something, every time.   11. Every time I leave the Stellar Bay area, the game crashes! Not when I leave the gates, but a good 200 meters away from the town in any direction. I have tried restarting my PC, capping my frames to 60, doing other missions and coming back, but nothing has worked! The main quest is outside of Stellar Bay right now, so I cannot get to it either... The game closes immediately, no lasting black screen or anything. I am on the Radio Free Monarch quest, and am on the Speak to the Broker objective. Any suggestions on how to fix the crashes?
  12. here's everything my PC was doing at the time on the crash. one thing i have learned is every time it crashes im going into or out of the players menu. (SCAB) most crashes come from changing the SCAB theme and opening and closing SCAB too quick. as for ingame settings its set to full screen 1920/1080. quality medium. shadows off. blur off. vsync off. frame rate cap 120.

Occasionally while playing the game (in multiplayer as the client, not host, in my case), upon exiting the inventory, craft menu, map, etc. I will recieve a graphics driver crash error that will either crash the game or, in some cases, my entire PC and require a restart. I can't exactly get screenshots of the crash, nor can it reliably be recreated per se, but it happens roughly every 1 in 3 times I exit the menu. (This has happened one time upon launching the game, but not again) The host and I updating our graphics drivers, as the error suggested, did nothing to fix the issue. Has anyone else experienced this? If so, any workarounds yet? *Update* I theorize this may be an issue with directx 12. I use an AMD Radeon RX 580 and have an AMD Ryzen 5 2600 Six-Core processor. Dx 12 is notoriously awful with AMD softwares, but because I use the Xbox App and am playing the game with the gamepass, I'm unsure of how to fix this issue unless it may possibly be something in the game (I was not having this issue at all playing the game in multiplayer as the client player 2 days ago). As of right now this error is making my game unplayable, which sucks because I adore both the game and Obsidian as a company. If anyone finds a workaround for making the game run in dx 11, I'd love to hear it so I can play the game again.
  14. I’m having a problem recycling and destroying log pallets while playing on Xbox One. Every time I’m about to finish recycling a log pallet or destroying It with a hammer, my game crashes. This has happened to me every time I have tried to do either of these things, to the point where I’m not going to try destroying this log pallet again. Contemplating just starting a new save altogether with this in mind. I saw this a couple of times on the forums but not on the known bug list so I’m putting it here. I hope this is an easy fix
  15. Hello, play on xbox one. At the moment it is impossible to access some parts of the map due to the grouping of larvae, when approaching the game is extremely slow and you are unable to move. It is not because of the settings, I have tested it in the lowest possible and the problem persists. Does anyone know what to do?
  16. My game crash when killing any animal, have tried reinstalling the game and update my geforce. the only think that works is going back to a save that is very old, the for last saves of which three is auto save the same thing happens.
  17. Hello. I'm playing multiplayer with a friend currently, and enjoying the game so far. We've had no major issues until today when we installed the 0.1.1 patch. It seems today that the game crashes on the host every time we kill an insect; gnat, ant, spider, doesn't matter which one. It always crashes when we land the killing blow. When the game crashes, the application terminates on the host (no error message) and the other players just disconnect and are brought back to the lobby. Hope this issue is resolved quickly. The game is very entertaining otherwise. Thanks in advance. EDIT: A solution was found, courtesy of TheStartleToad: It seems the quest is missing a reference to the insect you're supposed to kill, which i'm going to assume triggers a nullreference when killing an insect and it checks the quests to see if it was one of the needed ones.
  18. Hello, Fantastically fun game! Ever since mining the mint I've now had the game crash whenever I get into a fight and swing any weapon or tool at an enemy. I've tried downing all graphics turning off blurs and render scales to now avail. Playing on a multiplayer as host running Intel i9 3.6Ghz 16gbram Nvidia rtx 2070 update: after further testing new saves do not crash*and also it doesn't crash as long as i do not move* while i swing, only when i swing while moving forward or side to side. Update #2: Just realized there was a patch today that is likely the culprit and not anything to do with game progression as only just today have I experienced the issue and now have realized there was a patch. Final update! - haha I'm bad at science. it is only when i Kill an enemy that the game crashes. I can swing willy nilly but on the killing blow swing, game crashes no error message.

Hey, I stopped playing for a week, and when I tried to play again the game is crashing when clicking on "Play" on Steam Library. - I tried launching from .exe and from Nvidia Experience, same error. - tried validating local files in steam - Tried re-installing from scratch - tried cleaning regedit "pillars" entries. crash.dmp error.log output_log.txt
  21. If I visit the island and then I come back to Tikawara, then I get the crash systematically. The problem seems to be related to a audio file. AkSoundEngine.dll caused an Access Violation (0xc0000005) in module AkSoundEngine.dll at 0033:3a598695. I have attached the dump, the log and the error.   22. Hello, Please, fix the game, its always CE-34878-0 crash error. Most often it happens then you are at fight. Im playin in turn based mode. And i did reinstall the game, then i reinstall it to external hard drive, and then i made initialization for my ps4 pro deliting all data, but nothing helps! And i dont have the same crash in other games for my ps. I just dont want to tell about the longest loading screans on my console like im loading The Witcher 3 huge 3d map, instead of 2d map with minimal graphics and its loading even then i enter in the smallest area in it.   23. I hope this is not just more of the same. I’ve seen lots of posts about crashes on Tartarus, however I think that either my issue is more specific (and different), or maybe I can provide more information that might help sort it out. As far as I can tell, this is not related to the “Chairman room” crashes, as I cannot get to that point in the game. First of all, I’m playing on an X Box One X (OS version 10.0.19041.2493) and I have The Outer Worlds version 1.3.0.470. I don’t know if it matters, but I am playing with an Elite controller. I have played through the game several times and had no issues before. This is the first time I’ve tried an “evil” play through. I won’t run though every choice I’ve made up until the point where it crashes, but I have killed every human I have encountered in the game. The only companion I have with me is SAM. However, it doesn’t seem to matter whether I take him with me or not, the game crashes either way. Upon exiting my ship on Tartarus, the game will play until I either manually save or I reach an auto save (either due to time passed or exiting the docks). That save file is then corrupt. I have reloaded a previous save several times, attempting to change elements that might be affecting it (bring SAM or not, changing my armor/weapons, etc.), but have yet to find a method that works. I don’t know what is causing the crash, but it is directly related to saving. I have sent this issue to Private Division. Has anyone else encountered this issue? Has anyone been able to find a work around for this?

  25. Hello, First of all, thanks for designing such a good game. It is great! If I were playing it on PC or Mac probably I would love it. I wish I could say the same thing for its PS4 version. It is horrible. I bet you are already aware of it. So my question is simple, are you planning to improve it? (BTW, I am playing it on PS4. Not PS4 Pro. Not PS4 Pro + SSD upgrade. Simple, Vanilla, PS4.) If you are not aware of the problems, these are the major pain points I am experiencing: Slow, very slow, loading times: It gets even worse in Neketaka. I saw some other entries about it but I don't see any comment on when (or if) it will be fixed. Lags, frequently lags: Just cast an Essential Phantom spell and see it yourself. Or at midnight wait until morning. Or go to a water side with some reflections. Or ... Crashes: It crashes regularly. Sometimes it semi-crashes (exits to main screen) and sometimes it crashes completely. Semi-crashes are happening because it cannot load a map which is a transient issue and when I start the game again it will be able to load. the game. I don't have any idea why It crashes completely. I am trying to send a feedback from PS4 but I am not sure if you are getting it or not. Bugs, bugs everywhere: Even in a simple team management screen. Sometimes it doesn't get my team selection. Sometimes it does get my team selection, removes a character from the team but same character stuck to same location on every map. Fun, isn't it! I am not even expecting you to go into detailed bugs like certain scripted interactions keeps playing same sound file over and over again until you restart your game. No. I am just expecting most used features to be worked as expected. At this level, game is almost not playable. I like this kind of games but if I knew it was this state I wouldn't buy it in the first place. When I realise its state after I played it couple of hours, I considered returning it but PS4 store didn't accept returns for digital copies. Before I bought it, I read it was slow but I wasn't expecting this slow to be honest. I wish you had spent same amount of time for PC version and deliver in similar qualities. So my question is simple, are you planning to improve it? If yes, when? If no, why? As I said, it is very nice game! I wish to be able to play it (ideally multiple times) without getting annoyed by the loading screens, lags, bugs or crashes.
