  1. No real sign of how the survey was conducted or what the sample size was. What we do know is that the percentage of people identifying themselves as trolls was very, very small (5% of respondants). So were they people trolling the polling? While I imagine some people who troll are horrible people, I'm not sure this study really finds anything out about the nature of anonymous online interactions (negative or positive).
  2. Reportedly, the actress signed for three films, the theory being they are Batman/Superman (aka MoS2), Justice League, then a solo WW film. I watched THE FALCON'S ADVENTURE (1946) the last of the Tom Conway Falcon films. Not really a "who-dunnit?" so much as a "how is the Falcon going to catch them?" after the first 20 minutes or so. Not the best in the series but not the worst. Also watched Hammer's THE GORGON (1964) somewhat of an odd film - the basic idea has interest, but the truth is they never pan out the idea very well seeming to be unable to figure out what they want the film to be. And they try to make things mysterious when there's exactly one character in the movie who could be the possessed monster. And who thought Christopher Lee needed a droopy mustache to play a professor?
  3. Missy's was a little more strict in the enforcement of "da rules" (as few as there were) so...more Codexian free for all then?
  4. Changed mine too when I got the email.
  5. The second half was abysmal enough to make me forget the fun I had in the beginning.
  6. Jade Empire predated Dragon Age II, so technically DA2 was the "getting worse" bit... And IIRC you could get a threesome with Zeveran and Isabella or Isabella and "hardened" companion in DA1 too couldn't you?
  7. When we're counting the type of computer game rpg's (as opposed to jRPGs or console rpgs) Lionheart certainly ranks up there with the dissapointments. Awesome setting, really liked the ideas behind it and I remember discussing it on the old BIS forums and being excited. And Barcelona - while not perfect - was a fun city. But the actual gameplay was awful and that's what you're stuck with when you run out of Barcelona quests.
  8. Winterwho now?
  9. Isn't it the case that anything verbally defined aloud as a bromance stops being a bromance and is just awkward? So I think they're still good.
  10. Sounds good to me. I've always said I wanted interesting, reactive characters whether that included romance or not. I'd rather them not do them than do them poorly (I know some people believe they can never be done anything other than poorly but haven't really subscribed to that line of thought personally).
  11. I felt like I was about to fall watching them climb.
  12. They're still talking Carol "Captain Marvel" Danvers for the Avengers in the rumor mill. I watched FIRST MEN IN THE MOON (1964) an adaption of the HG Wells story. It was fun, but I felt the framing sequence took some of the oomph out of the story and they spent too long on Earth. Then I watched 20 MILLION MILES TO EARTH (1957) which is one of the few Ray Harryhausen films I'd never seen. The effects work is great, seeing William Hopper (TV's Paul Drake on PERRY MASON) as the lead was a hoot (not a position he was in a lot). And the scientific implausibilities and general ridiculousness was entertaining.
  13. This thread had me going And then I read the posting dates and was all
  14. You can sort out the completed ones. Add a search criteria for only live projects.
  15. Supposedly Costas is suffering from an eye infection. I thought the delayed coverage of the Opening Ceremonies to be weak. Lots of dead air and inane comments. You'd think if they had to tape delay air it they'd actually make sure that we could get the best commentary (or no commentary).
  16. I've wondered about trying the series. Huge fan of the original movie (and enjoyed for what they some of the previous derivative works EXCEPT the remake which was just wrong-headed IMO).
  17. Finished CARBON GREY. Got a bit too metafictionally for me in the end. Don't get me wrong, I did enjoy it but I feel the series didn't make the most of its idea (almost being a travelog for a longer story, in many respects) and the end - while set up properly - would have had a better impact if the story had played out longer, IMO. Read the latest POPEYE collection which is always fun. Also read the first collection of the Occultist - a fun magic hero vs demons/undead/wizards series. And caught up with all my monthly comics reading. Currently going through DC's CREATURE COMMANDOS collection. One of the stories I was surprised that it managed to get past the censors of the time (including, as it did, children brainwashed by a Hitler double into loving only him, the children being given super-strength through science, the children killing their parents, fighting the Creature Commandos (also products of whacked-out science) only to have their brainwashing crack, turn and kill their Nazi re-programers and fake Hitler before exploding into fleshy masses due to the instability of the science that made them super-strong). Crazy stuff.
  18. I always heard the missing part as "where women grown and men plunder", but I don't really trust my own ears. Pretty sure the lyrics are: ♪ Do you come from a land down under / Where women glow and men plunder / Can't you hear, can't you hear the thunder / You better run, you better take cover. ♫ That's the first chorus. The second chorus goes like this: ♪ I come from a land down under / Where beer does flow and men chunder / Can't you hear, can't you hear the thunder / You better run, you better take cover. ♫ In this case, chunder means vomit if I recall correctly. Man...been so long since I heard the song, I didn't remember the second chorus was different. Guess its a good thing it didn't come on recently with me singing along - would have led to funny looks.
  19. When he created his stage name (real name Eric Bishop, IIRC), Foxx made his last name a tribute to Redd Foxx. Redd Foxx's name (real name John Sandford) came from his early billings as "Chicago Red" (due to his reddish hair) and from baseball player Jimmie Foxx. Jimmie Foxx came by his surname naturally, being born to farmers Dell and Mattie Foxx in Maryland. ***** For my purposes, I watched THE LEGO MOVIE (2014) which was a lot of fun. The one sequence (if you've seen it) came as close to maudlin as I'd want without actually ruining the movie. Then I watched DETECTIVE DEE AND THE MYSTERY OF THE PHANTOM FLAME (2010) which I thought was pretty good; the action/fights were well done and it was a true mystery with clues that could be figured out (I guessed the mystery - yay me!).

  21. Mamoru Samuragochi (who was credited for music on the Dual Shock version of RESIDENT EVIL and OMNIMUSHI: WARLORDS) considered by some to be Japan's Beethoven has announced that he actually had a ghost writer write his music as he was too deaf to do more than suggest themes. The ghost writer came forward (apparently distressed that their music was being used by one of Japan's figure skaters) and said that not only did Samuragochi hire him to compose music, but that Samuragochi can't compose music himself. Oh and that Samuragochi isn't actually deaf. http://www.nytimes.com/2014/02/07/arts/music/renowned-japanese-composer-mamoru-samuragochi-admits-fraud.html?_r=1 http://ftw.usatoday.com/2014/02/winter-olympics-japan-figure-skating-composer-daisuke-takahashi/
  22. Yeah I thought it was okay. I saw in the theaters. Wasn't a "buy on DVD" but I enjoyed it.
  23. I imagine Misty Knight and Colleen Wing would be more likely to be supporting characters in the Netflix Daredevil/Jessica Jones/Iron Fist/Luke Cage/The Defenders series.
  24. Ah I mis-read your sentence. And yeah Taskmaster would work in this show.
  25. They've introduced at least 4 comic book characters that I know of (Franklin "Graviton" Hall, Donnie "Blizzard" Gill, SHIELD Agent Victoria Hand and now a version of Deathlok) in the series. I enjoyed this episode, but then I've enjoyed the series general - with some quibbles - so far.
