Countdown to Eternity!
lightblade75 replied to Mikey Dowling's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Announcements & News
I would like to know the total and final numbers: How many people did back PoE during Kickstarter AND afterwards on the website? How much money did you get in total? (including Paypal). How many books are already ordered (the both guidebooks available on Amazon)? How many people pre-ordered the game via Amazon, GOG and Steam already? -
Update #90: Shipping and Strategy Guide
lightblade75 replied to BAdler's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Announcements & News
I hoped we will get something better than a notepad. A notepad has no value to me as a collector. I hoped for 20-sided dice or something...- 330 replies

PoE Guidebook by DarkHorse
lightblade75 replied to C2B's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Only by now I notice this now old thread. Yesterday I bought both books via Amazon. I went for the 140 USD Pledge for the collectors edition box + 10 for the playing cards and 20 for the soundtrack CD + 20 for shipping to Germany (=190 USD) plus rd. about 60 USD for both books. Thats a total of 250 USD and a lot of money for just one game with collectors content. I hope Obsidian gets some money from the books and I hope its worh while. -
Update #90: Shipping and Strategy Guide
lightblade75 replied to BAdler's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Announcements & News
I also would like to get the making of DVD. This would not cost more shipping if this disc would be shipped together with the game disk(s). I do not see any reason for now, not to create a making of DVD. For me as a collector I do not like the download version of the making of. So please, Obsidian, consider creating such a DVD. (What about a poll for this?)- 330 replies

Update #90: Shipping and Strategy Guide
lightblade75 replied to BAdler's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Announcements & News
It is confusing. The Guidebook Volume 1 (by Dark Horse) is the same as the 'Collector's Book' from the Kickstarter. The Collectors Edition Guide (by Prima) is a hardcover version of the Digital Strategy guide from the Kickstarter. AFAIK, the other 'book' from the Kickstarter, the almanac, is digital only. Ah I see, so it was a right decision for me to order both books, as I want to have both. In this case my collectors edition has a total amount of 190 USD plus rd. about 60 USD = 250 USD in total. A lot of money for just one game. Anyway, thank you for your explanation. It would be cool if the Almanac would be also available in printed paper.- 330 replies

Update #90: Shipping and Strategy Guide
lightblade75 replied to BAdler's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Announcements & News
Regarding the books: I pledged 140 $ (for the collectors boxed edition) and bought some additions like the soundtrack on CD and the card game (deck of playing cards) and shipping to europe for a total amount of 190 USD. But as far as I know every book in this tier is only digital (except the game manual). I preordered the "Guidebook Volume I" 120 Pages by Dark Horse books via Amazon (around 14,50 EUR) and The Collectors Edition Guide, 400 Pages (around 40 EUR) also via Amazon. Where is the difference between those guides? Are those books the printed version of the digital ones? I find this a little bit confusing.... Does OE get some funds from ordering these books?- 330 replies

Update #90: Shipping and Strategy Guide
lightblade75 replied to BAdler's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Announcements & News
As I am a collector of cRPGs that have been released during the last three decades I know what the difference between a "shrink wrapped" (collectors) edition and not wrapped game box is. Just take a look at those rare Ultima I or Ultima II shrink wrapped game boxes you can seldom find on ebay. The difference is often 200 or more EUR if it is still shrink wrapped. The price a game can attain e. g. on ebay depends not only if the box is in mint condition. Regarding the games of old it seems that if the game has been a hit (e. g. 85% rating or higher) back in the days and is well known then it can attain a much higher price. Lets see how high the rating frome game testers over europe and USA will be for PoE....- 330 replies

Backer Reward Shipment Poll
lightblade75 replied to BAdler's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Announcements & News
Small adition: the extra shipping costs for some discs are not so high, compared with the ones for the whole box with contents like t-shirts or card games, etc. IMHO these "few" bucks do not make any change to the quality or the extend of the game. I am sure the publisher will pay a part of these shipping costs. -
Backer Reward Shipment Poll
lightblade75 replied to BAdler's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Announcements & News
I voted for option #1: It is a good idea to protect the game against illegal copies during the shippment period. Of course this will delay the pirating of the game only for a few days but with a little luck long enough until every backer gets his copy first. (Steamkey, e. g.). Some weeks before we talked about getting or not getting the "making of...-DVD". Regarding the outcome of this poll (for disc shippment) this could be a good chance to produce the "making of... DVD" and ship it together with the game disc(s). In this case there will be no excuse for not getting the "making of... DVD" instead of a "making of... download". This DVD would be the better choice than any kind of notepad or what ever should replace this DVD. -
Hey Devs, a big thanks for this. I already thought we would not get a new build for X-Mas. Great that I was wrong. This seems to have a lot of changes and a lot of things to check out. I am curious. Thanks a lot and a Merry X-Mas to all of you. And nice and relaxing hollidays.
-
I dunno. It kinda sounds like they know there may not be a new build before the X-Mas Holidays, but that it's still possible, if not probable, that there could be. Just sounds to me like they're not omniscient. Which is good. I don't trust those omniscient development teams. "Wait... you know what stretch goals to pick to get to 4 million? YOU KNEW ABOUT ALL THESE BUGS BEFORE YOU STARTED CODING?! O_O!" Maybe you're right. Hopefully. We will see. Time is running out... Would be great if BAdler would give us a new update of the progress of a new build....
-
Or maybe we get a really good video backer update? How about Josh being dressed up like Santa.... LOL
-
"... it may not be doable..." That really sounds like you already know that there will not be a new beta build for the X-Mas Holidays. I can't help but feel a little bit disappointed. A new backer build would be an easy "X-Mas present" for all the backers with having mostly one or two weeks off. Anyway: A nice and relaxing X-Mas to all of you.
-
Thanks for the update. This looks and feels like a big improvement so far. BUT: Still the flav text in German language is missing while clicking on the "magnifying spots". When will those texts be implementet? I think they should already be translated? I really would appreciate an answer to his.

Damn. How I hate this. No it is a quarter past six in the morning on Wednesday here in Germany and no update at all. I hope we will get the update today and a further and last update this year in December before X-Mas.

New dev tracker
lightblade75 replied to Rumsteak's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Hey Rumsteak, nice tracker! Thanks a lot. -
I think there are not so many people interested in weapons such as chains or whips. Even a scythe is not the type of weapon most people would like to choose. So this would be only work for nothing imho.

For the German languge: This is quite a nice translation and reads very well and afaik with no big mistakes. I could not find any bugs in the German translation so far. Only thing is that the flavour texts you get while clicking the "magnifying spots" are still missing in German.

I realy hope the new build will be with less bugs than 333 is. After this new build to come soon: Will there be a last new build for this year in December? If so, please make this a real enjoyable one, so it will be a lot of fun playing and testing this during X-Mas vacation. ) Or maybe a new area to explore: this could be your X-Mas present to the backers.... LOL
-
I hope next build will show a BIG step in the right direction...

I would like to see the grass and the trees animated, but as far as I know the backgrounds are only 2D and therefore will not be animated? I don't think we will see grass and trees animated.

First of all I would like to see that PoE will be a great game. When this is achieved (and Obsidian has not made the same mistakes like InXile in Wasteland 2 ) I would like to see a Kickstarter for a Pillars of Eternity 2 or likewise, with better grafics, etc. (new Unity engine).
