The Grey Sleeper

Damn. The Grey Sleeper or Tall Grass for barbarian. -
Well it depends on what sort of paladin you make. If it's support/aura type of pala then Int should be higher. If it's 2H type of pala then then Might will be nice. If it's 1h+shield you can leave might at 10-12 and raise Int/Res to make more use of your abilities + scrolls. You don't have to have all but you can make many different things with him. Personally I think INT due to existance on Scrolls and abilities gained from Items is the best stat in the game so unless it's not good for some class I always try to raise it. Might Switch Eder for Pallegina due to her higher int and play her like him but with better effect:D

Duh, I got there at lvl 5 and most mights then at POTD were very challenging. Levelled to 7 in the process but was still behind curve so I went doing Od Nua got to 9 and got back there now. Gonna see how it is. Also what level of difficulty? if POTD then well, you can always go Ironman and activate Death on first time to 0 health. Or just go Triple Crown. Makes things suddenly more "challenging".

Frenzy can be cast, you just need to be close to enemies My barb along with my Wiz is pretty much MVP. Very tanky and very damaging. Definitely worth having (especially with Tall Grass pike). You also don't need all stats. Some will raise naturally through items. He also doesn't need dex. Might, Con, Int and you're set tbh. I use Fire Godlike barb with 2H with Soldier Weapon Focus, using Tall Grass pike atm. At the beginning I raised Might as high as possible, same with con, then sub ~2 from per and res or con iirc and put in int what was left. I can post some screenshots later as not I kinda can't but he is awesome still in 2.0.1 Frenzy is enough for attack speed and other than that you can use +25% and +50% attack speed potions that with some survi last entire fights. Dex/Per is overrated for barb but don't go below 8. Int > Dex as it lets you cover more area with carnage, Barb Strike and also make Frenzy last longer as well as Knockdowns from Tall Grass. It also is 10x better than dex when you give him some Lore and make him cast spells like Paralyze (bigger area and duration) or pretty much anything else. Might, Con, Int > rest by far. My barb with gear has ~21-22 Might, ~20 Con and 19 Int with gear+buff from rest in Caed Nua (my master white march armor is 12/12 so only got 1 int on it ) ~11-12 per and 10 res with 10 dex. I also gave him a ring that increases dmg done to Soul Vessels and Spirits by 20% since these I find the most annoying of all. A word of warning, for the first 3 levels (on POTD) he isn't too strong but then picks up and obliterates stuff. Later on Blind on enemies + Tall Grass + carnage aoe crits are nice combo for knockdowns in huge area (barbarian strike + tall grass is also effective)

Role of fighter?
Killyox replied to Real Rahl's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Tbh I use eder with items that give a lot of skills like armor that gives that druid lightning spell + another that gives crushing waves etc. That + spell scrolls and I got a durable frontline fighter with decent dmg with stuff to do thanks to skill-items + scrolls. They are as good as you make them. -
In my experience, in Path of the Damned at least, some fights are incredibly hard if you don't buff your accuracy and defenses. Priests are great. They have some of the best spells in the game (though not more than other casters). Here are some of them: Crowns for the Faithful Shields for the Faithful Devotions of the Faithful Salvation of Time Champion's Boon Prayer against X I think the facts you don't use buffs and that you find crowd control effects to always hit are somehow related. Paladins are... well, they have some pretty good buffs, actually. They're one of the better warrior classes, in my opinion. Ultimately, they just get overshadowed by the casters, though. But that definitely includes Priests. It's true that in the harder difficulties you have to use crowd control. You also have to use movement, buffs (at least in my experience), and damaging attacks. Though crowd control is by far the flashiest thing you do, it's not very useful without a healthy dose of damage, and you can't use it if you're dead. Priests also have some amazing offensive spells

You're joking? Oblivion was magnitudes better in so many ways than Morrowind, not all of them graphically. Heresy! Really, though. Oblivion was a great game, but it greatly changed a number of game mechanics that had until that point been staples of TES franchise. They're both good games, but Morrowind is the far, far superior "Elder Scrolls" game - at least for those of us who grew up with Daggerfall. Pre-oblivion TES games had extremely counterintuitive systems. -
My NPC barb actually surpassed my wizard dmg wise. Tall Grass + carnage and high int is deadly tbh. When you blind enemies they also get critted a lot from carnage. Mine is also fire godlike so always some fire dmg aoe when he gets sub 50% (which he doesn't get to often actually atm). I usually give him +50% attack speed potions and sometimes use them but mostly aren't needed. For me Barb is my main tank and main dps pretty much Also retaliation potions

I just make them work. All of them, no matter how bad companion stats are. It's harder on POTD that way but then characters are more believable to me and beating a game + WM on POTD is just a nice bonus when not min-maxing. -
There is a lot of cheesing. Like Ulmar and Shining hand monks/priests/paladins. at lvl 7 they outright devastated me and I had to split them a couple of times. With barbarian of mine whenever he hit and aoed monks each monk would proc his aoe dmg and obliterate my eder within seconds ;p They also had lvl 14 talents like ice and fire copies and so on. Meh. Killed them all but it felt somewhat like cheating. I won't even go to cragholdt before 12

Wizard vs Cipher
Killyox replied to Myrten's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
Wizard Lots of spells on demand with many effect. When you run out of spells you can always resort to Phantom (which has crazy accuracy and does a lot of Blast dmg) + Kalkoth's Minor Blights + Blast. My wizard with this does more aoe dmg than my barb I constantly see 25-40 hits from wiz with kalkoth's aoe and then each hit procs blasts + 25-40 aoe hits from phantom (basic one). Vastly pref Wizard now. Not even using cipher in my party. So yeah, weapon damage Wizard > Cipher. Dangerous Implement, Blast, Penetrating Blast, Kalkolth's Minor Blights, Essential Phantom. You can autoattack the hell out of enemies if need be and you are down to no spells. These 2 are my spells that I always have when I think I will need a lot more impact over a long period of time. Kalkoths lasts for me 90+ seconds. Phantom lasts whole fight. I also got wand that has 10% chance of applying Burning Wounds in aoe and since blast and kalkoth's are all aoe that 10% chance pretty much always takes place so enemies take DOt fire dmg and since I aoe with wiz and phantom + barb it ramps up really fast. Wiz is simply better. Cipher better accuracy ? I don't think so. My wiz is also a trapper One trap I put down outdamaged everything I have ever done XDD but I wrote about it in another thread. Wizard also has some unique dialogs iirc. I expect more dialogs if I ever get to Concelhaut -
Is it me or is it the only trap with +15 or +25 (can't remember exactly now) accuracy instead of being minus for such a high level? My Wizard with 9 mechanics (+27 acc) and a magic belt +15 trap acc had thi baby hitting with 158 Acc. Basically this thing allowed me to have a fight with With my party how it was on lvl 5-6 POTD with Eder, Sagani, Durance, PC, Barb NPC, Zahua it was pretty impossible due to This trap gave me fighting chance and it went from impossible to win to quite challenging at that lvl with that party comp (i have no pure tank char ) Is this intended to have plus accuracy instead of minus ?
