XP is also a non-factor and like I pointed out, you can shoot their sails and then board which results in enough xp to rank most crew to 3-4 stars in under a handful of battles. By endgame coin is meaningless, yes. But early game having an extra 30k by not investing in a junk is quite handy to equip choice kit.

Depends on your build, but there are some really strong hats in the game. There is a helm that gives massive recovery reduction for using a 2h (falcon helm) and another helm that makes you immune to interrupts. Me personally, I'll take hats + fighting spirit over any godlike in 99% of cases. Aloth comes with Thaos' headdress if he's Leaden Key chief, which is really good. Seferan gifts you a dapper crit conversion hat. The queen drops +10 acc crown, looks sweet.

If you shoot out their sails, then board you get decent xp and more loot. You definitely get more loot boarding though Also, a Dhow with full speed upgrades will be in boarding range after 2-4 full sails. That's my goto at this point, ship combat does nothing for more me after the first playthrough. If you want proof, my first playthrough I sank Bounty - Biakara and missed out on this item, which did not drop: https://pillarsofeternity.gamepedia.com/Lance_of_the_Midwood_Stag In a subsequent playthrough I boarded that bounty and looted the unique pike.

You can't properly beta test when the build is consistently 3 months behind the dev. Not to mention, and I called this, people were crying because their half-naked party was wiping to the Titan in beta. People were posting how it was 'impossible' (when it wasn't). It's no real surprise that POTD at release turned into an outright Attack Move simulator.

Your argument basically boils down to the game is too easy. You can't just handwave the utility of chants, which are extremely useful even if you have other chanters in the party. Even ignoring the FREE invocations Tek gets as multi-class, Self/AOE Brilliant trumps anything power level 8 or 9 Druid adds to the encounter.

I don't really mind it, but it became pointless after mid game. Eventually the seas were empty aside from some merchants. IMO, ship encounters should have been handled with the SKILL system which would lead to different outcomes, but of course you would keep boarding fights in the event the two crews couldn't come to another compromise. Would easily trade ship combat for a 6th party member (in terms of the man hours I'm sure ship combat costed Obsidian). 6 member party, which was a staple feature of the genre this series is based on

well, its not hard to find items with resistance to intellect afflictions, so confusion issue becomes irrelevant, or multiclassing with fighter, there is a passive for that Have you tested this? I think this confusion is hardcoded. I gave my Berserker both immunity and resistance to intellect afflictions via various sources and noticed that he was still carnaging my allies... I personally have tested it plenty. There are numerous ways to make sure confusion never pops on frenzy. Post a pic of your combat log if you need clarification
