  1. That 5% was nearly 85-90% during the 80s, 90s & 2000s. I highly doubt they "fell on their face", since most if not all our glorious childhood memories came from those ages. Plus they used to sell like hell during those years.
  2. Blame World of Warcraft for all the bloody mess they created in the MMORPG genre. We all knew that Tabula Rasa was planning to appeal a wide sector of the WOW community, since most of Garriott's ideas for the final project were cut off. I think most game designers really just suck, and I think there's a reason why. Lack of education and a lack of extra-design skills are plaguing many of the so called "designers" and the industry at large. Creativity requires going outside the NORM and doing something that will draw in audiences or even put them for a ride. Instead game developers use the most mundane, over-repeated stuff on earth. Your story-lines suck. Your graphics are disgustingly old and ugly-looking. Your limitations on what a player can do inside a game is baffling. You offer very little to no room for growth and expansion, but want both players and games to follow this mundane line called "normality". Bring back Garriott's Virtues, mix it with some craziness from Mr. Moulyneux, add a mathematical equation from Stevo Barcia and bring in some guns from the lands of Romero and Perry. It'll most likely taste like the wine from the Golden Age of computer gaming.
  3. Sid Meier's Civ series and Alpha Centauri are nothing compared to Steve Barcia's Master of Orion I/II/III and Master of Magic. For those of you looking for a decent successor of MOO, I would recommend Star Dock's Galactic Civilization II. Oh I forgot to mention the best game on the computer platform, Dark Earth (Those of you who haven't played this hidden gem, should really give it a try). What about Blade : The Edge of Darkness? Spanish Software! Uhmm, what else... Oh yes, the Heroes of Might and Magic series, with the exception of Ubisoft's Heroes V and Black Hole's Heroes VI. Xcom Trilogy & M.A.X Mechanized Assault & Exploration shouldn't be forgotten.
  4. If you're tired of playing the same cookie cutter games that lack accomplishments, true friendships, epic battles, and a sense of free will: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/portalarium/shroud-of-the-avatar-forsaken-virtues-0 http://www.shroudoftheavatar.com/ More important than the name though, is the philosophy behind the design. The Portalarium team has set out to build a solid and robust incarnation of Ultima Online that embodies all the things we loved about the early UO, a virtual world more interactive than Ultima VII itself and an even more compelling story than IV-VII. Generally speaking, we might get an upgraded version of UO, with the possibility to play offline. If things go as smooth as they seem, there will be no reason to play or even release future MMORPGs. This title alone will suffice.
  5. Remove the save/load crap & add permadeath + full loot. Otherwise it won't work. The primary impact of failure in a game is to increase the significance of player decisions concerning life-and-death. Without permanent death there is less incentive for the player to consider in-game failure seriously. Severe consequences could intensify the sense of failure derived from their characters. Acts of heroism and bravery should only be accessible to the brave stereotypes, most likely people who roleplay as paladins, warriors, sorcerers, etc... While the most cautious individuals would adopt a rogue-like/wizard character. I never understood "Luck" as one of the seven primary statistics of Fallout without permadeath. I mean, sure you always die in a gruesome way in Fallout, but what's the point of having Luck if I can easily reload my previous state? Wouldn't "Luck" be more important if permadeath and full loot were present in the actual game? If you're not gonna accept the risk of large penalties associated with failure, then don't even think about this at all. Some people might come up with the divergent story path reason, BULL. We don't want multiple story lines, we want IMMERSION. Xcom & Ultima are good examples of what I'm talking about. In Xcom we had a save/load feature, but the game wasn't even designed for that at all. In fact, most of the players who ENJOYED Xcom never made use of this during their game sessions. The fact of failing a mission was a joyful and painful experience, both great feelings for both were serving a roleplaying purpose. Taking insane risks to fulfill your mission and succeed was the most pleasent experience a player could ever have.
  6. Much like Loghain from Dragon Age. For a roleplaying Paladin who served the Maker, I really appreciated sparing his life, for I was nothing more than a mere servant, not a justicer. This clearly increased the roleplaying experience in every single aspect for me. And just to make things better, he offers his services in return for redemption!! What a friggin awesome game! I gotta say, If you really want to roleplay as a Paladin, head for Dragon Age, you'll be completely amazed with the possible choices they give you for our favourite and lovable class. Or Perhaps Throne of Bhaal, offering you an alliance with your murderous brother Sarevok. Who would have thought, eh? So no, I don't agree with you. In recent history, Kings have been brought to the doors of madness by demons who agitated their terrestrial passions. Some perished, others didn't. An Angel might appear at the final moment to destroy the vile creatures who haunt your soul. Before becoming a Saint, Paul persecuted every single Christian. Who would have thought that a "jewish" roman citizen would become the miserable trash that he was as a Saint.
  7. KOTOR 3? Are you serious?! The Old Republic era sucked. Period. Revan sucked. Period. Gameplay sucked. Period. You would have thought that Bioware and Obsidian could create something new, instead they rehashed the same scenario. Rebels vs Imperials/Sith, Darth Vader wannabe (Revan), Jedi Order?!... Time for a new refreshing start. A new game that will take a more mature, gritty direction compared to the past. Empire Strikes Back & Revenge of the Sith aren't the best movies for nothing.
  8. **** skill system and repetitive combat. I could never progress that far due to how crappy I found the skill system to be. It's a shame since I loved the world design, quest design and music. Everything else clicked well together. Now that I think of it, Divinity 2 suffered from an equally lame skill system and had the same strengths as well. OP, any mediocre first person rpg from the 90's is ten times better than Legend of Grimlock. There has to be some hidden old gem you haven't tried yet.
  9. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ujovrBvdr_c http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EmyUvcKwZjQ XD Really how fawkin drunk have the inhabitant of the earth become on the wine of these false idols?
  10. Women are not allowed to speak out in a temple, but must place themselves in submission. - Saint Paul One of the chosen who was blessed with Fire.
  11. Did you just say we need more people like Peter Molyneux? Now I really have heard everything. Syndicate Wars, Dungeon Keeper I & II, Populous, Black & White I & II, Theme Hospital, Theme Park, Fable I... No, I hardly think you've heard anything at all.
  12. My stomach.. it... Hurts badly.... 5 days fasting, 6th & 7th day eating like a pig... Monday arrives with suffering... Friday 12:10, still suffering.... I will not commit the same mistake again... Arghhh!
  13. Kids. Would be awesome to have some kid around in the group.
  14. The difference between insanity and genius is measured by success. The problem is, Osvir is such a Peter Molyneux wannabe, that the full extent of his brilliance can never be translated into one game. I really miss these kind of people in the video game industry.
  15. I don't remember correctly, could enemies harm you while performing a final finishing move in Warhammer 40000 Dawn of War I/II? Battle should proceed as normal, giving enemies the possibility to damage/kill you during a finishing move.
  16. He's a simpleton, wouldn't last a day without his stepfather. In fact, all Hell breaks loose after you murder his stepfather. Nobody needs a 100 million dollar budget. Darklands delivers Osvir's idea quite well, and it's a 1992 game. Blame the developers for linear game design. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MxLgFbNPB9s
  17. Vatican City. The city of seven hills will be destroyed by the terrible Judge.
  18. You people shouldn't celebrate anything at all, especially if you're Christian. Just watching people singing for joy in these days, while the King of Men along with all the Prophets/Saints suffered/died horribly, makes me sick. You'll have plenty of time to celebrate if you end up in Heaven, until then you should cry every single day. May the Father and Son forgive us all.
  19. I would rather ask something different. Have I really lost my chance at getting a decent boxed version? Since Project Eternity pays homage to the great Infinity Engine games of the past, we SHOULD get a decent boxed version. I'm talking about those huge cereal boxes. Hell, not only were the manuals gigantic, some games even included a 200 page novella to set up the backstory! Nowadays all you get is a DVD and a piece of paper that says "Read the .pdf manual in the DVD".
  20. Hear me brothers, I will say a few words I received from the Holy Spirit. DO NOT MAKE FUN OF THEM, for they are not MINE! Wherefore I say unto you, All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men: but the blasphemy against the Holy Spirit shall not be forgiven. I will say them in Castilian, since most of you still carry the punishment of בָּבֶל.. You will make use of terrestrial wisdom to seek the true significance of these words. NO LO ENTENDéIS, TODOS Perecerán! AMEN. My time will come soon brothers. The chalice of blood is almost filled. Head to the mountains and fast for 39 days brothers, follow the example of Christ. Make God/Christ your only pillar of support. Farewell brothers. Close this thread moderator, I've speaken enough already. I will not prepare more bread with rotten flour, instead I'll prepare the best flour I have, so I can invite you to my house to eat with me.
  21. Pressure is friction. No air, no friction. Pressure is force per unit area. P=F/A, and without air, you can't have any heat generating from that pressure. Heat is needed for fusion, the whole principle is based on this to fuse the atoms, to get extreme heat for the fusion, the atoms must collide with extreme force, that collision can only be brought upon by contact, when the atoms touch this is friction, and this friction can only ignite with the presents of oxygen.
  22. If I'm going to prove that science is wrong I must used their theories and assertions. Temperature on Mars = 70 ºF -- Temperature on Venus = 872.6 ºF -- Earth is in between - VENUS: 108,200,000 km from Sun - EARTH: 149,600,000 km from Sun - MARS: 227,940,000 km from Sun www.nineplanets.org MARS — Temperature: 21 ºC = 70 ºF VENUS — Temperature: 467 ºC = 872.6 ºF www.daviddarling.info Earth being roughly between these two Greek Gods would share an in-between-temperature. Really how fawkin drunk have the inhabitant of the earth become on the wine of these false idols?
  23. The Sun doesn't have hydrogen gas or liquid in it, the Sun doesn't fuse atoms to create energy either, its God's light. How do the atoms fuse, with no friction, there's no friction in outter space, how do they heat up to fuse? Don't even think about gravity, with no air you still have no friction, you need an atmosphere for friction (air). Friction, heat generated friction, extreme heat, without it, there can be no fusing of atoms, upon the colliding atoms there is contact, it is that contact that is friction. No friction, no fusion, no science, no theory, get your money back from the schools.
  24. Same place Nasa filmed the Moon Landing. Check and mate. There is nowhere near enough room in that basement for an X-wing. Check mate? Or...
