You may not lose all your progress in 1 depending on how you do it. There are talents that you could get through quests that they might let you keep. Gift from the Machine, the gods boons from the endgame, etc. We'll see whether they strip literally everything. Also, before the Xoti goal, presumably if you'd not recruited the original 3, there wouldn't even have been a full party's worth of companions in Deadfire.

Mac OS X: No Capes/Cloaks
CottonWolf replied to Lasweetlife's question in Pillars of Eternity: Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
It's weird, because during the beta, cloaks were working fine on macs. -

Plans for expansion?
CottonWolf replied to Triga's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
According to the recent codex interview, there might actually be plans for two expansions, but if that's the case, we have no info at all about the second one. -
I was going to go with a pale elf barbarian, but now I'm thinking: Maleifia Female Wild Orlan Bleak Walker Slave Old Vailia Build around Bleak Path/Inspiring Triumph, doing high power hits (Flames of Devotion, Envenomed Strike) to take down weakened enemies then using that to debuff enemies and buff allies.

Armours in the beta - it's a jungle out there
CottonWolf replied to IndiraLightfoot's topic in Backer Beta Discussion
Exactly. I try to avoid metagaming, but if you have a quest to kill a dragon, you don't go in wearing the flammable fur armour you wear the rest of the time. Maybe you even splash out on some fire resist potions too. -

Issue: It was noted previously (http://forums.obsidian.net/topic/70288-435-talent-envenomed-strike/) that the tooltip for Envenomed Strike does not explain how much damage the attack does. The tooltip has since been edited, but this has still not been fixed. Expected behaviour: Some idea of the amount of raw damage inflicted should be given.

Backer Beta Build 480 Portraits
CottonWolf replied to InsaneCommander's topic in Backer Beta Discussion
To be serious for a moment I don't get a "paladin" vibe when I look at this helmet. It's pretty Bleak Walker-y. But yeah, the new portraits made me switch the character I was going to play completely. The female wild orlan one is just too good not to use. Seriously good work, whoever drew that. -
Character creation: Move culture before stats
CottonWolf replied to Headbomb's question in Backer Beta Bugs and Support
Yeah, Veevoir's idea seems solid, probably too late for release at this point though. -
[480] Invisible Medreth - buggy Escape ability

Yeah, same thing just happened to me, I was about to report it. (On Mac) -
Who do you expect to bring along on your first play through?
CottonWolf replied to wanderon's topic in Backer Beta Discussion
I'm either going Pale Elf barbarian (INT/DEX/PER) or Wild Orlan melee wizard (MIG/CON/INT) focusing on protective spells and touch magic, as my main. Then I'll roll with: Companion fighter spec'd for all out defence Companion chanter with a gun in the back row for buffs and summons Companion druid for heals Companion ranger for direct damage Companion cipher for crowd control *Subject to change if any of the above party members turn out to require impaling with extreme prejudice -
I don't hate Joe or anything, but you're talking about the guy who complained endlessly because in Alpha Protocol he kept missing when shooting with a pistol from long distance without realising it was a shor/medium range weapon and that the shooting mechanics relied heavily on stats.... Maybe he has improved since then, though. There's also a good argument to be made that the shooting mechanics in AP were terrible and the presentation of the game gave completely the wrong impression about how much player ability factored in. I thought that the reactivity in that game made it great, I'll never knock someone for criticising the gameplay, it's a pretty much justified complaint.
