It's not like they walked out on Interplay and went straight to EA, there were much darker times there in between. On the contrary, ice turns me on. As to Bioware and EA, meh. Between JE and ME, it was pretty clear that they were going in a different direction than the D&D games. I seriously doubt that EA forced them to make their games more actiony or dumbed down. EA does make them well through Origin though.

I don't like the idea of getting less points because of the difficulty setting. IMO, it is too similar to HP and Damage bloat for monsters(but in reverse), which is something I loathe about some difficulty settings. I want to feel challenged because the enemies use good tactics and have a range of abilities, not spend my time whittling away at a dude with insane health. Not to mention it doesn't take into account changing the difficulty setting.

That is the influence of the patriarchy empowering you. As you advance in level, you can use it to turn women and lay on hands.

I don't think we govern Josh's private life just yet. Ok, snarkiness aside I don't get the problem so feel free to ignore my post. Anyway, as fearrabit mentioned Josh doesn't have access from home to his work account here. Thats why he doesn't post here during times he isn't at the office. Generally I wouldn't expect a full answer on the problem till later last week. For the same reason that it was posted on friday and its the weekend. I think most are somewhat put off by that his preferred forum to discuss PoE outside of work is behind a paywall. I can understand why he doesn't want to spend his weekends doing work stuff, but it can be a bit frustrating to hear about tidbits secondhand and not being able to easily find them without forking over 10bux.

In general, I find Pathfinder fairly easy to explain....until you factor in the various combat maneuvers, bonus spells per day, and certain class mechanics. IMO, PoE has some stuff that is unintuitive, like interrupt and engagement, but once those are properly explained and proper feedback is given things should be easy to understand. When a group of people I play Pathfinder with looked through 2e AD&D, they were baffled. So for the uninitiated, PoE will probably be a lot easier to understand than BG.

What about NWN?

Super Smash Bros is getting a release for the 3DS, might have to pick it up. I remember being confused by Marvel vs. Capcom 2 because a lot of the Marvel characters did weird **** they couldn't do in the comics.

Indeed. It still needs some tweaking, but is such an improvement over the D&D bard. I haven't played a Chanter yet(limited time due to stupid stuff like working towards a degree and work), but improving what is generally a ****ty class isn't really saying much. From what I've read, PoE's Chanter is much cooler lore wise than the D&D Bard and looks to be mechanically much more useful and unique. Damn, I may have to play one now.

Ok good. I like the Cipher the best from a conceptual point. However, it needs a lot of tweaking, both in terms of abilities and base stats. IMO it's stats should be tweaked to allow it to be more role-ready for gish/soulknife/psychic warrior stuff, which seems to me what the concept of the class is. As it is now, I think it's a bit too close to pure caster.

He's saying that he played BG 1 solo to get has much XP has possible, yet unless you are using an XP uncapper, you reach max level fast and stop gaining XP doing it that way. 1. I thought using uncapped XP was standard in most non-vanilla installations of BG? 2. At this point, the horse has been killed, raised as undead, had its negative energy purged, remains devowered by a pack of worgs, pooped out by the worgs, transformed into a poop monster by magic, been destroyed, and is now being torn apart at the atomic level.
