Real Hoverboard Kickstarter
Really? Because I was thinking more along the lines of bullet train, which IIRC works on the same concept. Huh? Well hopefully the bullet train is more economical than its alternative: aircraft. Otherwise it's wasting spending billions of yen on construction and support costs. But if so, then there is a valid reason for the bullet train to exist. Not so the hover toy. It will require construction overhead just to make the toy usable, and the potential users already have skate boards with free parks nearby.

Paranoia RPG -- "Paranoia is a roleplaying game set in a darkly humorous future. In Paranoia, a well-meaning but deranged computer desperately protects the citizens of an underground warren from all sorts of real and imagined enemies. You play one of The Computer's elite agents. Your job is to search out and destroy the enemies of The Computer. Your worst fear is that The Computer will discover that you are one of these enemies." Succeeding at £33,356 with 39 days to go.

Chaos Chronicles resurrected? Resurfaces on Steam as "Century of Chaos"
I had a sneaking suspicion that it was a subtle manipulation intended solely to create a buzz and check for consumer interest, so I'm waiting until I hear more substantial news before I believe it.

RANDOM VIDEO GAME NEWS
I think there is a place for casual mode in gaming. Some people who once played computer games to excess now have much less free time because of a career, never-ending home repair, car problems, supporting a family, &c. They probably want to experience an enjoyable visual adventure without all the time-consuming grinding.

Torment: Tides of Numero Uno
Personally I'm not crazy about George Ziets. The guy has nothing to do with Torment (he wasn't on the P:ST development team) and the way he gloated about inXile scratching RTwP combat in TToN really, really made me mad. Bummer for you then. *shrug* I'm fine with either turn-based or RTwP, which just gives me more freedom of choice... To each their own, I guess.

Medusa's Labyrinth is underway. "Medusa’s Labyrinth is a first person horror game set in ancient Greece. The game combines the horror of Amnesia with the sneaking and archery of Thief. The player will have to carefully pick their path through the dark hallways on Temple Island, through catacombs and amphitheatres to solve the mysteries that lurk within the labyrinthine garden at the peak: Hesperides." They're shooting for kr2,500,000, which translates to US$345,000.

Real Hoverboard Kickstarter
It might be all right for amusement parks and/or specially built rinks. But then it becomes a chicken-and-the-egg marketing problem, with normal skate boards holding a massive advantage.

I wonder what prompted that decision. Sometimes it can just be about career advancement. Staying in one company for two long can limit your opportunities. At least that seems to be the modern trend....

Next Obsidian Kickstarter
Is there a market for an Arcanum-inspired game? Besides a small but dedicated following, I haven't seen much interest. Perhaps the sales of T:ToN will provide a hint, as that seems to be somewhat similarly eclectic mix of sci-fi and fantasy. There's also the Shadowrun Returns series, which I suppose is likewise related as it includes fantasy in a technological setting.

Huge BG fan only just now discovered Pillars
It was widely covered by various video gaming news sites--at that time it was dubbed Project Eternity.

Weapon Specialization issue
There would be more incentive to diversify your weapon skills if the specialization benefits tended to cancel each other out. For example, if your character has a specialization in short swords and so does your opponent, you should be able to counter your opponent's attacks with equal proficiency. I.e. the specializations should cancel each other out.

I'd like to run my own den of stinking decency on an asteroid base; attracting all of the recently reformed galactic scum and villainy to build a trading post selling holographic dream vacations and strange alien pets as souvenirs. Plus a transport line to bring the paying customers to my exotically-decorated domecile, and a refurbished star destroyer to deter the psychodrug-riddled bands of ravaging pirate brigands infesting the region. Oh, and a fully automated factory for building a line of sexy geishabots too... and a hipster galactic radio station with a freeky wierd jock spinning the tunes. All in the name of interstellar freedom and democracy.

RANDOM VIDEO GAME NEWS
Am I the only one who thinks the entire Bayonetta thing is just 100% pure stupid. From frakked up proportions to pistol high-heels to pretty much everything. It's the kind of stupid that I'd normally laugh at, except it's too stupid to do even that. Isn't Bayonetta a French product? I think the explanation is that they have different tastes than we do. Jerry Lewis, for example. Although Asterix was pretty good for its time.

Darklands inspiration?
Yes, that skill increase method probably works better with a single character game like TES; for a party-based system like PoE or W2 you pretty much need a synergistic approach to skills.
-
Darklands inspiration?
Well, given that we're only getting five skills, that won't be reproduced in PoE either. Unless it is somehow being implemented via talents...
